Our dinner at Alias was one of the best meals we've had in the US. We dined as a party of four celebrating a dear friends birthday and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff was professional, cordial and very knowledgeable about the dishes served and the wines and cocktails poured. The ambiance is comfortable and modern with plenty of space between tables so you can easily have conversation. Chef Stephen and General Manager Kelly are creative and thoughtful about every detail - from the courses they serve to the ingredients they use, to the plateware and glassware - every aspect of the evening is obviously well thought out... and they are both friendly, kind and attentive to their guests. Dinner at Alias is easily on par with any of the Michelin restaurants in the DMV and we're looking forward to many more meals at this jewel of a restaurant. read more

We had heard 2-3 reviews from friends that had visited Alias in the past couple months. Their reviews weren't great but we thought we'd try it for ourselves anyway. We also heard that the original chef was no longer there. The location of the restaurant threw us off. At first the location seemed very industrial so we weren't sure we were going in the right direction. Upon arrival there was a brewery and small retail/strip center property adjacent to the building where Alias was located. Our reservations were for 7 pm on Valentines Day. For some reason we received an email asking us to arrive at 6:45 pm. We arrived at 6:45 pm and were seated. Space seemed to be a little cold with concrete floor and ceiling open to steel support joists and painted black. The lighting was too bright. We were seated promptly and given menus and water. Male customer sitting next to us starting talking on his cell phone. His wife told him "this is a nice restaurant" so you need to walk away. They were reasonably dressed except the wife was wearing flip flops. During dinner this same couple wouldn't eat the 1st course "ceviche" because they didn't like raw fish. They also didn't eat much of the tuna even after it was cooked well done for them. So a little disconcerting that other customers weren't very flexible on what they would eat. Wait staff was a little slow taking our initial order. There aren't many decisions to make. Either the winter menu or the vegetarian menu. In the middle of our table was a glass that looked like a mixed drink but we thought, maybe, it was supposed to be a fancy candle that wasn't lit. We ignored it but it was finally removed later when we inquired about what it was. It was, indeed, an Old Fashioned that was left on the table before we were seated. The playlist for music needs work. A lot of Bee Gees and Carpenters. For a nice dinner, especially on Valentines Day, I would have liked to hear some nice jazz music or some classic music from Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble etc. Molly (I believe that was her name) was very personable and explained most of our courses in adequate detail. I also had the wine pairing which was nice and the sommelier was informative. First course was a ceviche which was good. Were given cute forks for the ceviche but because of the skinny shape we both found them a little difficult to use. 2nd course was a "soup" that was like a beef broth with stringy pieces of meat in it. (not impressed). The other courses were ok but not great. I was a little thrown off by the description of the dessert but it was good not great. Coffee was ordered but came too soon before dessert. Wait staff should also be instructed on which side they are supposed to remove plates and silverware and which side on which they are to serve courses. I realize that given the location in Vint Hill and Warrenton finding capable wait staff can be a problem. We paid over $600 for a meal for 2 with 1 wine pairing and 1 glass of wine. This included a 22% gratuity. I'd like to see Alias succeed but they've got some work to do. Too many better restaurants around so I can't recommend Alias at this time. read more

Marvelous! Great food; great wine pairing; wonderful ambiance and chef and wait staff; experience well worth the cost. We will be back!

Absolutely amazing experience! Beautifully quaint dining room which was equally intimate and communal, We showed up at 6:30 for a pre-dinner cocktail. The chef popped out with an amuse bouche and an explanation of the menu. We then enjoyed 5 courses of stunningly prepared and presented food with perfect wine pairings. Our meal was amazing! The combination of flavors and textures provided us with a delicious and very pleasing experience. We highly recommend dining at Alias. There is simply nothing that compares. read more

I'm giving Alias one star for effort. They are nice people. The food does not come close to what is expected with a restaurant at this expectation based on reviews and the very high price. It started when I tried to order a standard Negroni (1 part gin, 1 part sweet vermouth, 1 part Campari) which is a very simple recipe and the server had something else in mind. I got a single malt on the rocks to play it safe. Each course looked like it was prepared to be great - but consistently disappointed. Did we hit a bad night or bad menu here? Maybe. I am writing this review as a caveat to people making a reservation at Alias that the other ratings are way overstated compared to our experience. read more

I have been to a plethora of fine dining establishments and this one definitely falls under the "nothing to see here category". The food was fine but nothing wow'd me enough to justify the price-tag of a dinner for two (440$). We left hungry and confused at how they justify charging that much based on "ingredients" when all the ingredients, even though they're outsourced, are extremely affordable. The value you get for the amount you pay is not appropriate in my opinion. I would also like to put out there that I had this meal paid for me so it's not as if I'm writing this review as someone who just spend 400$ on a meal they weren't satisfied, but rather i'm writing this as a foodie who is confused why people are raving and raging about a place that didn't hit that "magic" benchmark for me? *we all have opinions so if this just happens to be your favorite restaurant there's a good possibility i'm crazy and i don't know anything i'm talking about* read more

Nice place but as expected it was overpriced and under-portioned for a brunch. Food was OK, but nothing great. Service was good but when asked a question about a menu item description the waitress didn't know what it was either? For a $74.00 breakfast for two (one of which was a child) it was disappointing... we'll probably still try the dinner on a special occasion but it was underwhelming to say the least... read more

We had been here before with the previous executive chef and had the most amazing dining experience that we couldn't stop raving about, so we decided to visit again thinking we would be awed like the first time. We were very disappointed to learn of the original chef's departure after we were seated but were hopeful that the new chef would deliver another unique and unforgettable experience. Sadly, the meal was just fine dining ordinary and not exceptional, and certainly wasn't worth the increased price. The service was still great and the staff including the new chef was incredibly pleasant and accommodating, but the talent that could have put it on the map is gone and it's no longer unique with the exception of its location. read more

To say the experience at Alias was incredible is really an understatement! The attention to detail before you even walk in the door was impeccable. The space is cozy, inviting, and thoughtfully organized. Having the opportunity to sit at the chef's counter was a real treat! Being able to witness firsthand the true art that goes into each plate is awe inspiring. The food was absolutely spectacular, each bite was packed full of flavor and highlighted the freshest seasonal ingredients from local farms. With an emphasis on sourcing from local farms and supporting the community, Alias is the perfect addition to the area. Alias is the gem that Warrenton so desperately has been missing. read more

Lovely dinner! Nice quiet pace. Food was interesting and imaginative, looking forward to going back.

Had an amazing experience at Alias. Having something like this as an option in Warrenton is a breath of fresh air. You could sense the drive and eagerness of young chef and his crew, who were knowledgeable of all aspects of our meal, from the wine to the herbs in the dishes. My favorite part of our meal was the complexity of the broths. They made each broth so uniquely, with a full body of flavor, that made me wanting more. We left very satisfied with extra dishes not even listed on the menu. We are definitely excited to try the next menu. read more

Yes! Make your reservations and get to this place before there's a three month waitlist! This little gem is an amazing culinary experience. The chef is producing absolutely top-notch food on par with the best any big city has to offer, tucked into a cozy, small eatery in Vint Hill. The service is impeccable, the sommelier knowledgeable and overall vibe is relaxed but on-point. We opted to sit at the "chef's counter" and thoroughly enjoyed watching the creation of something both gorgeous and delicious! Highly recommend. read more

Great atmosphere, fantastic service, food was superb, can't wait to come back again. Will recommend Alias to all our friends.

Wow...Had the most amazing dinner at Alias in Vint Hill (Warrenton, VA). Young chef, Stephen, and his wife, Kelly, have created an amazing gastronomic dining experience with wine pairing and taste sensations beyond anything I've ever had before. I recommend if you're in the area, esp. for a special occasion, include them in your plans. read more

Incredible value for a tasting menu. The wine pairing was spot on and certainly worth the splurge. The enthusiasm from the entire staff made the evening magical. They made gf bread for my friend who has a sensitivity to gluten and made sure she could partake in the entire experience. Lastly, I will be lusting after the bread course for months to come. A little gem nestled here in Nova. read more

Really an experience more than a dinner! We were greeted right away as we arrived, with the menu printed with our name on it. Lots of little samples of different things. For example, an oyster and a small cup of strawberry gazpacho to start. The meal was well paced with several small surprises interspersed with the courses printed on the menu. Not everything was a home run (we felt some items were over salted) but enjoyed them anyways with their interesting presentations. We were there for a total of 3 hours, so plan accordingly! Because one of us is vegetarian, which means we often can't attend fixed menu restaurants, we really appreciated that there was a vegetarian option. Lastly, we sat at the table as opposed to the bar. But if we were to return, we'd try sitting up there to view the workings of the chefs. read more

REALLY GOOD food. The drinks were good. Small restaurant. Staff were friendly. Was around $500 including tip for two.

Perfect from start to finish. The food was amazing and the wine pairings were flawless. Kudos to the team!

This is a promising new restaurant that has the potential to be great once they work out some kinks. Let's start with the pros: The food was creative and tasty. Seasonal dishes that are well-balanced and full of flavor. Not one course was a "skip", although I will say that I enjoyed the dessert course perhaps the least of all of them. The wine list and wine pairings were excellent and had some really nice "risky" options. I enjoy trying new things and I really liked that the sommelier paired a Mexican wine - which I had never tried before - with one of the courses. All of the pairings really enhanced my enjoyment of the food. If you prefer to order a bottle, their wine list has some really nice options and seems pretty well-priced. They include a fixed service charge, which I like - no doing math at the end trying to figure out the final price. And it makes sure their servers get paid a living wage. The ambiance is fine, and it's cool to see the chef putting final touches on dishes out in the open. I see some people complaining in other reviews about feeling cramped but I felt like we had a good amount of space between our table and others. I am not a small person and generally my test is if I can comfortably exit a banquette without feeling like my rearend is in the space of neighboring diners and this setup passed that test. Now, the cons: There is still some coordination to be worked out. First, they offer a vegetarian menu, which is great, but they serve their amuse bouche options for the evening before they ask which menu you are having. My friend is veg and both amuses that we were served had fish, which she doesn't eat. This is easily fixed by either making all your amuse bouche options vegetarian or asking folks' dining preferences beforehand. Second, with the way their service is set up they have only one seating per night with 30 people being served at the same time. They need to figure out a way to time this so that food comes out for everyone promptly. Nearly every dish they served us was a little cold by the time we received it. In the same vein, they ask you to arrive at 645 for the 700 seating, and service didn't actually start until 715. That meant we were sitting there with no food, no wine, nothing but water for 30 minutes. That got a bit old. Starting wine service or offering some bread would go a long way to help with this. read more

Phenomenal! We will definitely be back. The variety of flavors are a culinary delight and the service is excellent. Recommend adding the wine pairing; at the last minute we decided to go with it, and we are really glad we did. The ambiance is welcoming, and even though we did not experience the chef's table, the servers explained each dish thoroughly. BTW, Chef Steven also did some of the serving and was extremely approachable. My work affords me the opportunity to experience many of the world's restaurants. Alias is among the best. read more

Clean efficient and timely moving services all at a very competitive price I've use these folks repeatedly and I'm pleased each time of use

Dining at Alias was a WOW experience for us. What a fabulous new restaurant! We were fortunate to sit at the chefs counter and observe Chef Stephen in action. It was a treat to see the detail and precision of how each course came together. He clearly masters both the science and art of the culinary world. The entire staff was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Beautiful ambiance. We are thrilled this passionate young couple has brought this extraordinary level of dining to this community. Alias has quickly become the best restaurant in Warrenton and the surrounding area. The food, ambiance, and service is unmatched. I was able to make the drive out from DC for a beautiful evening with my family, and I would drive the distance to visit again and again and again. The chef was able to cater to my dietary restrictions, and even had non-alcoholic bubbly on tap! I have only ever felt this level of attention to detail at restaurants akin to The Inn at Little Washington (3 Michelin stars). Every course that was presented was not only delicious in ways my taste buds had never conceived of , but also expertly plated. I will definitely be back! read more

Food was delicious but service needs improvement. At the price point of $800.00 per evening, service needs to be impecable. There was no acknowledgment of food allergies; little explanation of dishes or how to eat. No consideration from customers perspective. The hostess and chef were arrogant in ignoring these aspects and some, if not most, customers after seating. read more

My partner and I came here on a whim after wine tasting at Vint Hill. They were open for brunch on Sunday and we were just happy to find something close by. Little did we realize we were stepping into a brand new, super fancy brunch spot. Immediately we were greeted by friendly and accommodating staff, who made sure we had a relaxing and pleasant meal. The menu was small but everything on it looked delicious. We shared a mimosa and then ordered the Alibi burger and the bacon and chives waffle with crème fraîche. The waffle was delicious and was the perfect amount of food-it was comforting and refreshing, and definitely hit the spot. But there is nothing that can top that burger. The short rib patties were perfectly cooked and mouth watering. The sunny side up egg was cooked to perfection and the bacon was incredible. Even the potato wedges on the side were fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant and I am itching to get back to try the dinner tasting menu! read more

The space is nice and some of the food was nice. I would not even be writing this except for the fact that I wrote a private message to the owners through Resy and received no response. So now it goes on Yelp. What will keep us from returning was openly rude service. Twice I received a curt response from our waiter, once when I asked to order a cocktail and again when I asked when the cocktail would be coming as we had been waiting quite a while, had already received food, my husband had already been served his wine, and still I sat there with no cocktail. The second curt response from the waiter included an actual dirty look, and he turned on his heel and walked away. This is shocking to me - I've never experienced such a thing, let alone at a very expensive place that we had driven over an hour for, to celebrate a special occasion. Both times I spoke to the server politely and with a smile - I always do, to be a nice person and also because, having worked in hospitality many years ago, I understand that grumpy customers are no fun. So this was simply unacceptable, as is the lack of response from the management to my private communication. (On the plus side, the drink I struggled to receive was delicious). read more
