    Beer flight

A hidden gem! We found this place while looking for somewhere stop on a car trip. We certainly got lucky! Dog-friendly craft beer haven off the beaten path. The farm atmosphere is relaxing, and there was a food truck for a late lunch. You can check their Instagram for food truck schedules. We ordered a couple flights so we could try as many of their beers as possible - one of the best saisons ever! If you're familiar with North Carolina beers, the flavors and vibe are similar to Fonta Flora (esp at Whippoorwill Farm). The next time we head this way, we'll definitely be back.

You've got to love a farm brewery. This is the vision of Kevin Powers who is a native of Canton/Akron Ohio who has found his niche in the growing of hops & barley on the local farm and the brewing of some fine craft beers. My friend Jim B and I have been talking about stopping in for several weeks since they opened so we made it on this Thursday evening. The gravel parking lot was packed, there was a Mercedes SUV, a Lexus SUV, a Chevy Colorado, a 69 VW bug an Audi Q5, a few Fords and several other imports...the parking lot was packed...really? On a Thursday evening? Well it is the heart of summer and well...we do get thirsty..and we do like I craft beers don't we? An interesting cross section of rural Fauquier County on this warm summer evening The vibe here is very local and family oriented. There are outside picnic tables with corn hole and several acres of farm land planted with everything from heirloom tomatoes to hops, barley, corn and wild flowers. You can even get some fresh duck eggs! A nice rural change of pace from what you might find in Prince William County. Very relaxed and easy with the locals coming and going like this place has been here forever. I tried the Blackberry Saison which was exceptional, the most recent brew that was not even on the menu board. Then I went with the Homeland Spelt which was quite delicious. A must try when you are in the area. An easy on/off from Route 28 at Casanova Rd in the heart of rural Fauquier County.

My friend David and I popped in on a Friday evening to try out Powers Farm & Brewery for the first time. We met Kevin and and Melody - the owners. Super nice folks. We both ordered a full tasting flight (7 Ales in total): Lemongrass Pils (5.0% ABV) Passion Flower Saison (5.1% ABV) Sooner Pale Ale (6.1% ABV) Black IPA (5.9% ABV) Lemon Balm Wit (5.3% ABV) Spelt Bier De Garde (7.5% ABV) Session IPA (5.3% ABV) Some really good beers here - as well as a few misses. Whenever we visit a new craft brewery - we try to taste everything - even if it is a style that we'd not normally order a pint. In this case - I found that the Lemongrass Pils, the Passionflower Saison, the Lemon Balm Wit, and the Spelt Bier De Garde - are the styles I typically don't drink - but these were all well executed from a style perspective - very tasty, very drinkable beers - in short, they were very good. I felt like the Sooner Pale Ale and Black IPA fell kind of flat. We had a fun discussion with Kevin - the beer maker about this. The Pale Ale was their first attempt - so I am guessing that their will be changes and improvements to these brews. The Black IPA - needed more hops. And a better name than "Black IPA." The Session IPA was a little better - but not one of my favorites. The brewery has just opened, nice space, very nice people. I am looking forward to coming back and seeing how things progress! #PowersFarmandBrewery

Nice out of the way brewery that serves an assortment of beers made with ingredients grown on the farm. I'm not talking about hops - think blueberries, elderberries, lemongrass - you name it. Don't knock it until you've tried it! They are only the second place in Virginia I know does this (Back Road being the other). The tap room isn't fancy, but it didn't matter as nearly everybody wanted to sit outdoors anyway and bask in the nice weather and scenery. My server was friendly and knowledgeable (I think she's one of the owners), and brought me up to speed on their philosophy of making their beer as 'home grown' as possible. They were home brewers for 10 years, and farmers for even longer. Powers is a home brewery, taken to the next level! What I tried: Lemongrass Pilsner: Yep, definitely a lemongrass flavor to it. Pretty good Blackberry Pilsner: Peach colored, strong blackberry notes. Bier Spelt: Brand of beer I'm not familiar with. Good, but different. Achilles Yarrow Porter: Favorite of the bunch. Kolsh Elderflower: Not bad; nothing special in my notes either way.

This is an amazing place! It's worth the extra few minutes off the highway to go here. We stopped here after a weekend camping and hiking and it was perfect. It helped that the weather was glorious, but they have great beer with a wide selection, and food trucks rotate. When we were there, it was a taco truck. Lots of room to roam around. Bring the dogs, play some cornhole, watch the chickens. Local and lovely!

Beers were delicious. We tried IPA, hibiscus, lemongrass and one other with plum notes that were all good. The farm was spacious, many picnic tables and even a fire pit. Dog friendly outdoor and indoor. The food truck outside was good since this is away from any markets. Can't wait to come back when it's warmer!

Left: Butternut Brown Ale, Right: Cold Mood IPA.

This is my favorite brewery in the area! The beer is amazing and they have a wide selection (Lemongrass Pils is my favorite). Also a variety of food trucks are always on side. The service is superior and everyone is so friendly (something so rare in NOVA ) Not to mention it's so quiet and out of the way of all the noise of the city! Definitely recommend.

Had a great time at Powers Farm & Brewery. All 6 of the beers they had on tap were wonderful. The staff was very nice and helpful. Plenty of parking and seating (both outside and in). They also had cornhole and was kid and dog friendly. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area. They do growler fills to go. A+!

We were here earlier than usual (10:30 am, don't judge me for drinking before noon!!!) and we're the only customers. It's uniquely located at a camp ground, but parking is a bit limited. The tasting room is small but has amble seating. There was a piano in the tasting room and no one was at the tasting room when we entered. My daughter who is a beginner pianist, wanted to play. Since there were no signs on the piano that forbid people touching, she went ahead and played. Then an older gentleman came in and told us in a stern tone that the piano is not for playing. He was not friendly at all and even after we apologized and ordered a flight for sampling, he still was not engaging. I'm not sure if he is the brew master or just someone works for the campsite store, but he didn't seem too happy to be there. We had the 2 stouts, an Amber, and pilsner on tap for our flight. They were all just OK. We didn't want to order more because his attitude and the sense that we were not welcomed there... Which was too bad because it was a nice space with plenty of outdoor seating, a playground in the back for kids to play while parents enjoy some refreshing beer. We will most likely not go back again given the cold-shoulder treatment.

Food was not it, we had the pulled pork nachos- the chip/pulled pork ratio was not good, barely any meat, flavor was ok-ish. And also ordered a hamburger because you can't go wrong with a hamburger- well we were wrong! The bread tasted stale and the patty was flavorless, the french fries were over salted, we took two bites and couldn't finish it. Biggest complaint was that the service was unfriendly. The host was a bit rude and didn't seem thrilled to seat us. She told us we had an hour to get in and out since they had a reservation. This last time I waited to review since we were so disappointed. We do not think we will be back. Licorice Pizza has won on all aspects. This visit I ordered the pizza that looked great on the table near us. It was not crowded but has probably 6-7 tables and all but 2 had been served. My husband ordered a chicken dish. His order came out without my pizza so he was waiting to eat w/ me. About five minutes went by and he had taken a bite or two and I said please eat. We asked the waiter as he walked by when the pizza would be out. He said oh just a few minutes. He disappeared and we didn't see him another 10 minutes, went by. Finally, I caught his attention as he was walking by and said do you have any idea about my pizza? It's been about 15 minutes and my husband was almost done with his meal. It took another eight minutes for my pizza to come out. It didn't seem very fresh. I think he just totally forgot. Service has been a problem and it's such a great building. And the beers are wonderful, but you have to have the whole enchilada as they say there are other restaurants in Warrenton as well as close surrounding areas that you have to give great service. It's not acceptable that one person eats the other person watches them eat and then one is done and now you get your meal. That is not OK. I've been in the restaurant business years before customer service makes a huge difference. I hope they can find better staff or if it's management problems they can train.

I was looking for good beer for a local gathering, and searched through several breweries. I was interested in the options here that are diverse, yet small and curated. The Turtlenecks & Blazers is what I'll return for - a deceptively easy to drink 6.6%. The pronounced hops and slight fruitiness are one of the better IPAs I've had recently. It doesn't veer into dank bitterness or overboard with citrus, while also not being a flat boring middle-of-the-road IPA. A great pour, and I was disappointed there wasn't any canned when I got there. The only thing I'd improve is the seating, which is a personal impression.
