I found this place through yelp and decided to give it a try since my glasses were scratched insanely bad and hey, I might as well use my vision insurance somewhere. I called ahead of time, they speak both Chinese and English very fluently and the person who picked up the phone was extremely nice... and let's face it, in Alhambra, courtesy is hard to find, especially since I don't speak Chinese very well (essentially just English). I came in and met Simon, who was extremely helpful. Not only did he introduce me to both premium and more "cost effective" frames; but he showed me some peripherals just because peripherals are cool! I went in for my eye exam, it went well, and finally had to choose some frames and other things concerning the lenses. I already said this, but I'll say it again, Simon was very helpful. There are a few things I usually get with my lenses, and he told me his honest opinion about certain "perks" that I usually get, and how some of them aren't usually worth it... and he managed to do that without me feeling like I was being looked down upon or anything, I was totally at ease with him. I haven't met any one who has brought out as many frames or went through as many explanations as he did with whatever questions I had. Anyways, in the end, I picked out my frames and my lenses, and now I'm waiting for my brand new pair to be read for pick up! A really great place with helpful staff, I highly recommend this place. I called today, a Saturday, around 10am to make an appointment because of some of the reviews and because it covers vsp members and I read on here saying that the weekends get busy; there was only 1 person waiting ahead of us and the lady sounded nice so I assumed this place would live up to its 5 star yelp status. We went in and followed some of the tips about the location and yeah it was kind of hard to spot but not as difficult as others have mentioned. Like some other reviews, I can understand why some people think that the doctor doesn't seem like he enjoys his job because he seems to rush, but hey - I just think he wants to do the task and be done with it, doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy it. Anyway the doctor was cool and did the job so plus one star for him, I would come again for an exam, but picking out glasses was another story. The lady at the counter (there were 2 ladies, but we only interacted with one) that was helping us pick out glasses (I didn't ask for her name and, frankly, I didn't care) was so rude. We (My boyfriend and I) didn't mention our budget and we were looking for Calvin Klien brand glasses,which we mentioned when we walked in and they told us they don't have so we opted for other brands, and when we did find a frame we liked it was way out of our budget, and after we found out the total of everything we told the lady we didn't want it and that we wanted cheaper ones and when we did that she asked how much cash we brought (we didn't tell her because it's none of her business and who the hell asks that to a customer anyway) instead of how much our budget was and then she let out a loud sigh, excuse you lady - we were just about to give in to buy those expensive ass frames because the cheaper ones didn't look or feel as good, and after that we mentioned again that we were looking for a certain brand because the insurance covers most of it, she clearly did not understand what we were talking about and laughed in our faces. That was the last straw, that lady needs to learn some manners, that fool just lost some customers. We expected so much more from this place because of the reviews but we won't be coming back because of the negativity and attitude you gave us, we're out. read more

When I first walked into the optometrist, I was thrown off by all the Chinese characters and the out dated green decor. Though it was disheartening, I was quickly helped by Simon. He was courteous and straightforward with their selection. I gave him my budget limit and he showed my an array of glasses. I was afraid I would have to deal with a sales person, but he didn't try to sell me any glasses that I didn't want. My trip to the office was a little over an hour and it included an eye exam and the selection of the glasses. I was afraid it would have been a hassle, but the trip was a lot more enjoyable. I decided to come here for my prescription glasses based on the reviews on Yelp and distance from my house. First, I called them to make sure if my glasses will be ready within a week. Based on my prescription, they said for sure, they can do it. As soon as I entered the stores, I saw lots and lots of glasses frames and two Chinese ladies behind the counter. They showed me different types of frames and also recommended me which one is good and popular. But they were not pushy. I took me a while to choose one glasses frame that I feel comfortable wearing, but both ladies are very patient and nice until the end. I am not sure about pricing, but in my opinion, they are pretty reasonable. Just remember to ask them to give you discount. I got my glasses after 3 days later. They adjusted the frame and nosepiece for me right away. The glasses fit me prefect, and I am very satisfied and happy with the whole experience. Came here because I live down the street and they also accept my insurance. Can't be anymore convenient than that! I had an appointment and went in on a Monday and they weren't busy at all. They were able to help me right away. A lady named Dora helped me pick out my frames after my eye exam. She showed me a range of frames, from cheap to designer and they weren't pushy about trying to sell me expensive stuff either (that was good). After picking out my frames, I was told they would be ready in about a week, which was fine. I eneded up getting a phone call Thursday evening, that same week, to pick up my glasses. All I can say is great speed, service, and quality! Keep in mind that the store is closed on Wednesday and the optometrist is only in on certain days, so be sure to call ahead of time! read more

Like other Yelpers said previously, this place is very efficient and cost effective. Due to our ill-preparedness, my husband discovered that he only has two days worth of contact lenses on Sunday. We randomly chose this place on Yelp, soon to learn that it was a great decision. Despite that it was on a Labor Day weekend, the services very quick and informative. In less than 30 minutes, we got eye exams for both of us, contact lenses, and placed orders to replace frame lenses. I came to this place with friends that needed glasses but I ended up getting a pair of my own! The doctor is super nice and is very good at what he does. Simon is the BEST, he's so chill and will help you with whatever you need. The other ladies that work there are also super nice and helpful as well. They even helped me out with my insurance I had a pair of sunglasses that I needed to get tightened and they tightened it for me with no hesitation, even though I didn't purchase them at their the store.
