So my friend Alfredo feeds me, my brother, and my boys probably about 10-15 times per week. The man stays consistent with his sandwiches, pasta, salads everything. Everyone needs to try my sandwich. Go to him and ask for the Jason special. Some prosciutto, fried chicken, fresh mozzarella, tomato, cooked spinach, pesto....ridiculous. I honestly don't understand the rave reviews. Delivery was fast but my tuna sub literally had maybe a tablespoon of tuna in a large sub roll. Was also not great Italian tuna salad. My friend's shrimp scampi was quite small and arrived with 2 shrimp. The meatballs were obviously not homemade and probably courtesy of Costco. I called the restaurant to tell them that there was hardly any tuna in my sub and the guy just yelled at me, saying that the tuna salad was not made with mayo and that I should read the menu (Duh! That's not what I called about), and then said that he had just made it and their portions are small. Really wish I had taken a photo as we thought this was a joke. read more

I really like this place and it's super cheap BUT since it's ran by one guy, they aren't always open. I would give this place a solid 4 stars but I've walked there numerous times during their normal business hours and he was closed! However, if you do happen to catch them open the pizza is great and the meatballs are a must!! You can definitely tell he makes everything homemade! This is a tiny place with a few eat-in tables. They do a healthy takeout business (see grubhub). The owner is a 1st generation Italian-American. He learned the restaurant trade in the old country. This is REAL Italian food...fantastic. Great flavors, homemade pasta if you want it. Lots of choices. Something as simple as a house salad....usually it's a hard pink tomato and some shredded lettuce at this price point. NO, nice fresh red tomatoes, hand prepped lettuce, wonderfully light traditional Italian oil/vinegar/spices dressing. This is a one-man-show, so don't order 20 meals and complain if it takes 45 minutes. He's doing it all himself and putting his love into it. Give it a try. Enjoy. read more

We live in Brighton and regularly order from here. It is a great hole-in-the-wall. Its run by one guy who does everything which is kind of awesome and everything I've ever gotten from here has been delicious. Authentic and delicious! I found this gem three years ago when I moved to Allston. The food is AMAZING. Between my boy friend and I we have tried just about everything on the menu and let me tell you we have NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL. The food is fresh, home made and affordable- what more can you ask for? The gentleman working (Mr. Alfredo?) is very nice- kinda hard to understand with his thick accent- but it adds to the 'feel' of the restaurant. This place has very, very good pizza. The kind of stuff that I've been looking for for a while now. The crust is not too thin but not too thick, and the bread/cheese/sauce ratio is just right. It even has the telltale visual sign of a good pizza: big air bubbles, which means they don't put oil in the dough just to make it easier to handle. Plus, I like the guy behind the counter. I think it's really more like 3.75 stars, but we'll round up. Alfredo was very nice. My friend and I got a pizza and garlic bread. We felt that the crust and the sauce were quite good, as was ricotta as an extra topping. We felt like the over all cheese was so-so, and we definitely wanted more mushrooms. The garlic bread was really good though, and I'm glad someone mentioned it in their review cuz otherwise i wouldn't have known to ask for it. Overall, it was solid, but it didn't blow me away like I was hoping. I'll definitely go back to try some of their pasta dishes though. read more

There's not really anything about Alfredo's that hasn't already been said, so I'll just reiterate some key points: - The food is seriously the best "red-sauce Italian" I have ever had. Seriously. Get the gnocchi and you can die a happy person. - I've only gotten delivery, but they get to my apartment inside 30 minutes with food so piping hot that I can't even eat it for the next 10. YUM. - Service is super-friendly. I pretty much always have to give directions to my apartment cause it's confusing, but the guy on the phone apologizes profusely for not understanding immediately. - The little old(er) man who delivers is adorable and nice and always get a big tip. - CHEAP. Best place to take out in Allston!! Hand's down, this place freaking rocks! Alfredo is a really nice guy and his cooking if off the chain. It is literally just him - and his Dad used to do the delivery. You can eat in and bring your own wine... Did it once and ate at the table outside. Felt like I was some old guy in the south of Italia. Alfredo has weird hours and now a $15 min for delivery... Still I sometimes can't believe how good his cooking is for the price, or just period. It's really good. I recommend asking for extra bread cause he only give 2 or 3 pieces with a dinner. I have have the penne arribiata and gnocchi al peso and the rose sauce with the cheese tortilini. I love great hole in the walls. I was working and craving pasta. I've been to Carlos but my latest visit to them left me disappointed so I decided to give Alfredo's a try. Looking at all the rave reviews I was like "I gotta try me some of this!" So I called for pick up and a man with a lovely italian accent answered. I asked for the chicken carbonara and at first I said with linguine but he said he made pasta from scratch! How could I pass on that?! This guy is a one man show and he does it well. I have to thank all the YELPers for helping me find this place. I was going through a Italian/pizza craving a few months back and used Yelp as a resource to finding some new places to try. This is one of my fav places to go to when I'm craving Italian - the lobster ravioli is super-tasty thanks to the rich creamy tomato-based sauce it's covered in. The place is pretty small. I usually come with one other friend and I feel like the two of us fill the place up. And we aren't morbidly obese or anything. It's just super-tiny. I suppose you could fit a cozy group of 4-6 in there. Oh, my only warning is that it is Closed on Sundays! read more

Guys. This place is super cheap for what you get. While your pasta may be a bit overcooked, who CARES for a huge plate for $10? I was a bit surprised to find my pesto sauce was a cream pesto rather than an oil, but that's okay - it was still yummy. The place is tiny with only a few tables - but it's still a great experience. You get bread and oil, the staple of any respectable Italian restaurant. And Orangina. Anyplace that offers Orangina automatically gets a thumbs up. I love Alfredos. It's a 1 minute walk and it is honestly the best Italian take out food I've had in Allston if you're not counting Carlos. Alfredo & I go way back now, he pretty much sasses every time I go there since 90% of the time I order a side of meatballs with the chicken parm dinner or the chicken ceaser salad, which are my favorites. That said, I've tried a bit of everything else at some point to the other pasta dishes, sandwiches, calzones & pizza. The pizza there is really friggin good and flies under the radar around these parts. I'd never really be tempted to get delivery since it's basically Alfredo and his driver with the small blue car and newsie hat. It's an ideal pick up location though. Can't recommend it enough. Pricing is fair and the portions are good. The sauces are pretty tough to beat. One word of advice is not to think about using a credit/debit card unless you're dropping $25 or $30. Alfredo hates cards. He hates them to the extent that he will let you walk out without paying and just put your name on this list. Happened to me once, and I defiantly wanted to go back. I always love rooting for the hole in the wall places, because they are the one's that consistently surprise me for the better! Italian eateries certainly range from small and simple to large and eloquent; I find that somewhere in the middle is where you end up getting the most consistent and delicious food. I've had great dishes in the North End since i've been here, and I've had some mediocre ones. Frankly I go there now not on the sole hope of possibly getting a mouth-watering dish, but for the atmosphere and top-shelf booze. Frankly my best experiences with italian dishes have been in my own house or at home in general by family-run restaurants in a normal sized town. What i have yet to find up here, however, is a place that consistently serves good italian food not in a fancy setting (since i haven't gotten that anyways, i could just say good italian food) Well I found Alfredo's; and i am very thankful i did! I was told of this place twice, once for the consistent pizza (have yet to try), and another for the pasta. Well one night I was not in the mood to cook my own pasta and was out of sauce anyways, so i took a chance and ordered chicken linguini alfredo with garlic bread for delivery. The food came relatively fast, and the bill was downright cheap! Great prices, good delivery...now all i needed was the food to taste good. Go figure; it was indeed satisfactory. The dish wasn't the best i've ever had, but to be fair I have a love afar with the alfredo dish back in my home town. On its own merits, it was pretty darn good! Pasta was cooked perfectly, the chicken was delicious, and the sauce itself was just flavorful enough to be noticed and enjoyed. The Bread, om the bread....it must be a consistent thing here in Boston's italian community because it is godlike. I may just order the bread used for making garlic bread without any of the fixings, and still pay for it! This is the best place in the entire world. It's an actual hole in the wall, that I never noticed until I actively searched for it. Alfredo is super friendly, and cooks like a god. I want to try everything on the menu, but I'm such a big fan of the pesto gnocchi that I rarely deviate from ordering it. My boyfriend is a big fan of the seafood pasta, and usually orders that when it's Alfredo's night. The garlic bread is also delicious. It's really inexpensive, and I love the delivery option. So I went here with the family after a phone call to see if they had eat-in eating and was told yes. As I pull up I noticed just a couple of table there and thought hmmmm welp were here lets go in, so as we entered we were greeted by the owner himself (who I was calling Alfredo Alfredo) who was pleasant, after a couple of minutes we were ready to order we ordered the cavatelli pesto garlic with chicken which is home made cavatellis and was amazing 2up, cheese ravioli with a light pink sauce another 2up just the right amount and lastly linguini with meatballs all were just amazing this guy has a hidden gem here people. First you call and order with the wonderful man who is always there and always answers the phone. I love how the same two guys are always there and friendly. Then you hang up and it seems as though the food has magically appeared at your door. It only took about 20 minutes for delivery-- which is a rare quality in Allston delivery. Then you open your bag and inside you find large servings of delicious pasta and italian yummys. I usually get a chicken cutlet dinner. The chicken is always really thick and juicy with a nice breading. Most places serve really thin pieces of chicken. I like my chicken to have some girth. Alfredo gives me this. The salad dressing that comes with the salad is AMAZING. It is a great creamy Italian dressing. I want to buy a bottle of it. The slices of bread are a bit small, but all the pasta and salad make up for that! Finally, all is well after I finish a delicious Alfredo's dinner. I am now hungry just thinking about it. read more

Alfredo's is the best sub joint in Allston by a long shot. I would even go as far to say as its better than my old favorite sub place, Dino's (which i ate at just as frequently as this place when i lived in the North End). The caprese sub is what i usually get, and out of the ~30 or so times I've eaten it, the bread has always been fresh, and the tomatoes have always been ripe. I've tried their pizza as well, and its also very good, as is the chicken parmesan sub... and the super parma with chicken (also a sub)? holy crap. It is okay for a pizza place around this area, but fails to compare to some of the better ones I have been to. The Mediterranean pizza did not come with fresh basil or really a good amount of mozzarella which was disappointing given the price. It was essentially a cheese pizza with tomatoes on it. The pizza was standard with no flavor, even in the toppings and the ravioli was very dry ( Tasted frozen and reheated ). Reasonably priced, its okay for a snack but don't wonders. read more

I'll grab a sub or calzone from Alfredo's every week. Always great for lunch. A decent selection of dinner items; authentic and amazing tasting Italian food. Most of the salads aren't worth the price but don't let that discourage you from trying the subs, calzones, or pasta dishes. The owner is a really friendly guy... Rain was driving down and we didn't feel like leaving the house, so delivery it was. the delivery person (Alfredo?!?!) was soaked- but still very friendly and timely. i had the pesto tortellini, which was absolutely delicious. soaked up the extra sauce with cheesy garlic bread, YUM! friend had a meatball sub, which was perfectly presented (toasted crunchy roll, melted cheese, yummy sauce, meatballs sliced) but could have been improved with better meatballs. they were not bad, just could have used a little more flavor. i'd do it all again... and will read more

I will never order from here again. I got delivery and received the completely wrong order of pasta. When I called to tell them about the mistake, they demanded that I wrap up the pasta and deliver it back to them in order to get the pasta I originally ordered.
