Just finished returning from Alex's for dinner with my family. We are Greek food fans & were very interested in going here for dinner. The food was fantastic & the wait staff were very friendly/accommodating. We started off with a platter which had pita bread & three "sauces", one being hummus. All top notch & could have eaten that as a meal. Three of us ordered the gyro platter while I choose the sampler platter. The sampler platter was excellent & provided many options. Falafel, gyro meat, grilled chicken, pickled beets, Greek salad, etc... More than enough. No one went home hungry, everyone went home satisfied. We'll definitely be back the next time we are in town. read more

Not bad. Caveat: I grew up in Queens and lived on Long Island for several years - home of insanely good Greek, Mediterranean and Italian food. So, this review is from the perspective of a big-time Greek-food snob. It seems that this place recently opened up - perhaps a new identity from one of the other existing Greek places in town? Not sure of the story...but they're definitely trying to cater to the college crowd with variety: Greek, Italian, burgers and wings (makes sense). The atmosphere is a little weird - just feels like a recently renovated bar or pizza place. The decor is minimalist and it gets loud in there when just a couple of tables are full. OK - the food: Everything seemed fresh - the greek salad was generous but the feta cheese is served as one large block (as opposed to crumbled feta....just a personal preference). The grape leaves are quite good and the pita served with the appetizer (of an interesting dip) is served hot. The chicken kabob is very good - moist, not over-seasoned but still flavorful. The wait staff needs some refining...one of the girls was obviously sick and coughing all over the place. That said, they were still friendly and accommodating. I'll probably give this place another shot next time I'm in town. read more

I ordered the vegetarian sampler salad. It was served on china with plastic utensils that bent when trying to cut the falafel - the server could not provide metal utensils as those were in deep storage. There was a glob of something red and white which was not on the menu, which was very salty. The tzazuki was very good. as was the hummus and pita. My wife's salad had ample tomatoes but although tomatoes are in season locally, they tasted as though they were harvested green elsewhere. There was ample outdoor seating which is important in this time of COVID19. All together it was an OK place for lunch. read more

Been here 20 minutes and still waiting for water and someone to take our order. Not sure how the food is... Ok, she took the drink and food orders 25 minutes after arriving ...10 minutes later and we're still waiting on the drinks...at this pace the food might show up in an hour... Beer was flat, still waiting for a replacement. Half the food arrived but, no silverware! Rest of food arrived...it was ok but, not great. Replacement beer was almost flat. Probably won't return...lots of choices in Plattsburgh. Now we're waiting on the check...the server is rolling silverware and we can't get her attention! Got the check and it was WRONG!!! I'd like to start this review by saying that I had no issues with my food or the service I received here. Thoroughly enjoyable meal, with alert and attentive service. With that said, there are 3 things that really turned me off about this place: 1) They bring you your bill and tell you that you get a 4% discount if you pay cash. This is not true. You do not get money off if you pay cash. They ADD 4% to the bill if you pay with credit card. In the end, this is really cheap, sleazy math that the owner doesn't need to do. I've been to hundreds of restaurants and have never had one stoop to such pathetic penny-pinching measures. Which leads me to... 2) I ordered a PINT of beer, which is SUPPOSED to be16oz, but was served a beer in a cheater false-bottomed 14 oz glass. Using the same math, I should have received a 12.5% discount (~75 cents) on the beer. I did not, because the owner is cheap. 3) Lastly, if you're a business that displays support for certain political candidates in th way of signs in the bar/dining are, then expect to not get repeat business. read more

Excellent find in Plattsburgh. The appetizer of whipped feta and roasted red peppers served with warm pita was delicious! Oh how could I forget the wonderful sangria!!! Generous wine pour for the hubby. Beer also available. The souvlaki was served with tasty rice. The village salad was good but will be outstanding with fresh local veggies when local tomatoes and cucumbers are available. Small but comfortable restaurant. Horrible service. Had family visiting and brought them to Alekas, we requested outside seating and was told it would be just a few minutes. While waiting one of their employees, Crystal, opened the door and very loudly shouted at one of the servers can someone explain we don't seat that many outside very rudely. It was extremely awkward. We asked if there was a problem sitting outside and she continued to tell us yes they don't seat that many and was beyond rude. I just love this place. The restaurant itself is very simple, no frills decor, and that's fine because the food is incredible. My favorite is the super falafel. This is a mixed review. I have been eating at this owner's Greek restaurants for years. This is the third incarnation. His food is very good as long as he is overseeing it, but often spins out of control when he isn't there. Whenever I have had a bad meal in his absence, and told him about it, he has taken care of me. When they are on their game, the food is 5 stars. However, the wait staff is rarely better than 3. If you are sitting at the bar ordering drinks, you get lots of attention. If you look like a high roller, you get attention. If you are the average Joe and family, you get ignored; even when it is not busy. On my last visit, my wife, a friend and I were seated just outside the kitchen where the waitress had to walk around us to get to the rest of the restaurant. We got menus, but it took forever for her to come and take our order. Two tables who were seated after us had their orders taken before us. Once we ordered, most of the food came out in reasonable time. The olives and feta never made it and the waitress never came back to check on any table the dining room until we were almost done. She never asked about drink refills. We had to grab someone else that came out of the kitchen to get those. We didn't bother with the olives and feta. We sat for at least 15 minutes after finishing before she came to ask about dessert or the check. I had to leave before the check came, but my wife said that the olives and feta never made it to the order. The food we got was very good, although not timely. I will go back. It is the only Greek place in town, and I like Greek food. I will recommend it with a caution. Be prepared for slow service. read more

Delicious. We tried the Greek Salad and Dolmas (which I thought was only written like Dolmades and Dolmathakia but I guess I'm wrong) which were fresh and delicious. I've been to Greece and several Greek restaurants and I can testify that these were pretty good. I ordered the Greek Burger expecting an actual burger but I received a gyro. It worked though, it had the meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and spinach which were absolutely great. It came with fries that were okay, not my favorite but not bad either. One of my favorite restaurants in Plattsburgh! Wonderful Greek, as well as a selection of Mediterranean Italian. I am so obsessed with the falafel I have been unable to try other sandwiches, but I absolutely recommend getting whatever filling you choose as the Lebanese Twist. I also highly recommend the mussels - the feta/spinach/butter/wine sauce is so good I pick out all the shells and bring the sauce home to mix with veggies. The rice (as a side) is unlike anything I've had anywhere, and the Greek fries are worth every delicious calorie. Do not miss this spot if you come to town! read more
