    Spinach egg drop soup (GF)

A hidden gem tucked away at the end of a side road in Isle LaMotte, VT, Ruthcliffe Lodge is a great place to enjoy a fine dinner. It's also a charming, quiet place to spend a few nights - or more - away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hosts Mark and Kathy Infante will take excellent care of you, whether you're staying at the Lodge or simply enjoying a meal in their restaurant. Chef Mark prepares delicious, in-season Italian-American fare, and each entree is served with the soup of the day, a lovely green salad, fresh bread, and complimentary sides. Dessert is extra, but definitely worth it. Kathy makes a decadent flour-less chocolate cake as well as a delectable raspberry pie. Food allergies? No problem. As someone with a gluten allergy, I can attest they went the extra mile for me, even offering an alternative soup that I could eat. (I got to have a spinach egg drop soup, while the rest of our party enjoyed cream of broccoli.) The salad is served family style, with fresh greens, red onions, radishes and cucumbers topped with Mark's homemade Italian vinaigrette. For entrees, I enjoyed the Sicilian cod, sans crouton, while my husband opted for the evening's special -- a grilled rack of lamb served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Other dishes receiving rave reviews include the Parmesan-encrusted halibut and the baked scallops. You really can't go wrong; order whatever looks good to you. I doubt you'll be disappointed. Service is top-notch, and the kitchen runs efficiently. Debbie took excellent care of our table, and expertly assisted us in navigating the menu options. Besides the food, one of the best things about Ruthcliffe is the location. Stunning views of Lake Champlain greet diners from both the inside dining room and the spacious front porch. After dinner, stroll down to the dock for a closer view.

Went here for our 25th anniversary. Absolutely wonderful experience. The view was amazing and we even saw rainbows over the mountain. I had the Lobster Ravioli and my husband had the Lamb. Perfection! The staff sang to us and the owners chatted. Our first time there but totally not the last! Thank you for making our night special!

    Strawberry rhubarb parfait was phenomenal.

I was excited to try this place with the reviews but was a little apprehensive when we pulled up - small strip mall that has seen better days but we were hungry and figured we would give it a shot. The interior is cute -- but small. Not many tables but thankfully we were on the early side for dinner so only one other table was occupied when we arrived. We quickly decided what we wanted to eat and placed our order. Our salads came out fast and they were very delicious. I am a sucker for black olives so was thrilled to see them on the salad. I noticed that the other table (a couple) were still waiting for their meal and it showed up a short time later. A few more tables were seated and we were still waiting for our meal. It became evident that there was one server and one cook. When our meal showed up, we were not disappointed. The sauce on my chicken parm was savory with just a hint of sweetness. And it had chunks of tomatoes in it - huge plus for this tomato loving gal! I don't know where they got this chicken breast but it was huge! It was very well seasoned and probably one of the best chicken parms I've ever had in my life! For dessert, my hubby decided to get the cannoli dip. I'm bummed that I cannot eat dairy cuz that dessert was massive! My husband barely put a dent in it and took the rest home for a snack later on that evening. We would definitely come back again if we are in the area!

We ordered a large salad that came with bread and butter. Very soft fluffy Italian bread. The spaghetti with meat sauce ease was quite a lot of meat sauce. Very generous with meat and sausage meat. One of us ordered a side of meatballs and those were quite large. The chicken parmigiana was tender. And also smoke. Everything was reasonably priced and we all needed a doggy gag. Service was friendly and prompt. We will need to come back again.

I felt like I was eating a big cheese piece on normal bread - 0/5. * Shrimp Scampi- so they just brought boiled spaghetti with shrimp... IMO, it was not cooked at all, they might have tossed it in a wok, but nope, it was not edible at all. Upon asking, all we heard was - we make it like that. We returned it. * Hot Turkey Sandwich: considering all the food we got, I guess I am satisfied with the sandwich... Server (fat lady, I am not judging folks)- she was good though, sweet and patient with us. It's just food was not at all good, and we did not have a nice experience here.

We shared the grilled artichoke and were really surprised at how generous the portion was and how affordable the price was. Service was fine. Nothing noteworthy. Didn't get checked on very often, but maybe that's their style? Either way, really good experience. Would recommend and would go back.

I honestly was disappointed in the vodka sauce, it didn't have much flavor. I also thought the portion was small, if I didn't add the chicken I still would've been hungry after finishing. Although, the crispy chicken I did add was delicious. I'm glad we finally tried it here, but not sure I'll be back.

The Caesar, although over dressed, had lovely flavor and I liked the whites anchovies they chop in the dressing. Ambiance was what we expected. And now for the cons: we ordered the special of the night... the waitress said she loved these potato filled pasta, so we ordered. Along with the clams and pasta the mushroom horn pasta. The special, was 22 maybe $23. There were literally eight pasta purses on the plate. They were undercooked and while I enjoy flavor, the pasta was too undercooked and nothing hot, the clam dinner that my husband got was warmIsh. Although he ate it, it was quite heavy on the butter in the end. His was just warmer than tepid. Now onto the trumpet mushroom pasta that I ordered. One bite, pasta was undercooked! And the overall dish was too cold for me so I asked for them to heat it. I had eight pieces maybe nine pieces of pasta on my plate. It was a $26 dinner and she comes back and she says they're going to make me a fresh one and it'll be right out. After some 20 minutes go by, nothing...They brought out my to go order before my dinner. So I told them to keep it. As for the to go order, I ordered the pork Milanese. The pork looks lovely, but it was a to go order and they threw a very heavily dressed radicchio salad right on top in a box that was too small for the order and they handed it to me wide open and said here's your takeout order. I asked another waitress to get me another container so I could put the salad in that so we could at least close the two boxes. Lastly, no gloves are used when touching cooked food.... We will not go back...
