I was preparing to do a big shopping trip. Instead I was completely turned off by the process of something that should be simple -- having something to hold your groceries in. Finally I coerced some poor child who was bringing their cart back to give me their cart and not lock it back up. So stupid. At checkout, I drag the few items I decided to purchase to the cashier and wouldn't you know it....no bags of any kind. What in the world is this place? Needless to say I won't be going back until you act like other stores because the lack of convenience ain't worth it for me. I realize Aldi thinks they are saving money somehow by locking up their carts. But I think the offset of losing customers that don't want to deal with inconvenient things should be considered.

I can find my basic dairy, grains, produce and meats here for a good price, and shop for organic or health trend, and fun seasonal and specialty items for food, pets, sundries, the home, and gifts. They even have custom gift cards here for ~$1. Their floral selection is excellent with low prices. One thing that I do find has been true of Trader Joe's is the small parking lots. Luckily for us customers, they seem to be changing that lately. This location in Surprise on Grand has a large private, shared parking lot. There's a coffee grinder available if you want to grind your whole beans, restrooms for customers, a find-the-hidden-object game for kids, and stickers for kids. The checkers and staff at Trader Joe's are famously friendly and encouraged to wear quirky attire. Each register has a large brass bell to ring for assistance. End caps and posters are displayed using artsy chalk script with illustrations. Each store is customized for its geographical location. This is just a fun and unique place to supplement your normal grocery haul or pick up a gift. Beware - it gets crazy busy during holidays so plan ahead.

They definitely need to get their bakery with more variety of items especially come in first in the morning. Of the 3 items I had to buy, a jar of Spaghetti sauce that was marked on the shelf as a discount from $12.99 down to $8.99 was subsequently charged at $10.99. This overcharging seems to be quite consistent and needs to be corrected. I have notified these facts to Arizona AG's office in the form of an online complaint.

The beef tamales have a great masa. They taste as if some of the beef favor has been added, giving them the homemade taste. The chicken tamales flavor would improve if only the red flavor was added. I'm also pleased that the tamales have been available year round. I have recommend them to friends.
