I have been to this grocery store lots of times when shopping in the area is open 24 seven is family owned. It has plenty of parking and a great variety of food with great prices for your grocery needs. The staff is friendly items are well stocked and have a nice bakery section deli and more. This store is dirty, dinghy, depressing and the staff has been rude to me on several occasions. I am not going to be shopping at this store unless I absolutely have to. It's never enjoyable! Today was another interesting day at this abysmal store. Not enough checkers , as usual , so I went to self checkout, sign says 15 items, I had 18! The lines at the registers were so long I decided to go ahead and self checkout even though I had 3 extra items. This is no joke, the woman working in the self checkout area came over a started gossiping about me with another customer and complained to him about how people don't read the signs! I turned to her and said, "I have a few extra items , like 3 but you don't have enough checkers " and she starts arguing with me. There were only a few people using the self checkout so the guy behind me had no problem finding a place to check out and I didn't hold up the line in any way. This is not how employees should be talking to customers, ever! They would have no job without customers. This has happened before at this location when a manager came running over and scolded me for putting my items on the conveyor belt when the register was frozen! How would I know that? I guess employees are just as miserable as the shopping experience is for customers. Stay away! There are so many grocery stores options in Surprise, just to name a few we have Trader Joe's, Costco, Aldi, Fry's, Safeway, Sprouts, Albertsons, and we are soon getting a Whole Foods . With so many options I will say no thanks to Winco. The prices are not even that low anymore. read more

I've been sleep in WinCo!! Not anymore lol. Everything was neat and fully stocked. The prices beat literally every store I typically shop at. The produce and meat prices blew me away. The avocados were all not ready but what are you going to do , it's a common hit or miss at any store. Luckily the bag of avocados were perfect and only a couple bucks. I'm not that happy with the winco water bottles, out of the 24 pack not a single bottle could stay up right without falling over. The cashier was very friendly and had great small talk. I had 17 items in the express checkout next to 2 other customers with more than 15 items. 2 registers open and no one behind. Virginia (possible management) very rudely forced me out of all of the customers to move to another checkout. I respect rules and I went but she was exceedingly rude and didn't care that others had more than me and were allowed to stay. she blamed "corporate" and the young girl that was overseeing. Absolutely DISGUSTED with WinCo Foods in Surprise, AZ. Today's experience was hands down one of the most humiliating and infuriating shopping trips I've ever had. I went in, did all my shopping, used self-checkout like a responsible adult, scanned EVERY SINGLE ITEM, and paid for everything. My cart was completely empty--nothing hidden, nothing shady. But apparently, WinCo staff has nothing better to do than harass honest paying customers. As I finished scanning, the register locked and summoned a staff member like I was some kind of criminal. They came over and started going through the screen to make sure every item was scanned--but here's the kicker--they REFUSED to actually check my bags. I even asked if they wanted to check, so I could PROVE I wasn't stealing anything. Their response? Basically too lazy to do it. So instead of doing their job thoroughly, they just stood there throwing judgmental looks, clearly assuming I was a thief. If you think your customers are stealing, have the guts to check their bags. Don't just stand there with your passive-aggressive energy and smug attitude while pretending to be some grocery store detective. It was clear they had already made up their mind before even looking. It was dehumanizing and insulting. I will be hard pressed to shop at this location again. And WinCo--if you're so concerned about theft, how about staffing your store properly and training your employees to treat paying customers with a shred of basic respect instead of acting like lazy, power-tripping mall cops. Love visiting Winco in Surprise! We most recently have started coming here regularly to buy protein bars. It's very convenient that they sell them individually - that way we can try multiple, and get whatever amount we want. I enjoy seeing all they offer - it's a regular grocery store plus so much more! It's awesome how much they have that sets them apart, such as candy that you can buy individually that you normally wouldn't be able to get outside of a pack. Good selection of decently priced foods. They have everything you need, produce, bulk baked good items (flour, sugar, baking soda, et.), canned goods, and meats. The best way to describe this place is that you'll shop weekly and generally save more on everything you need vs. other stores. If there are front page deals at a "name brand store" they are usually 1-2 big ticket items worth shopping for, but on a weekly basis, the prices for canned good staples, bulk items like oats/spices, and breads will generally be cheaper at WinCo. Also, if you don't mind buying the generic brands, you'll save a great deal more here too. This is NOT a Whole Foods, so don't expect top quality grade meats and exotic produce. The cashiers do their best to check you out timely, but during peak hours they can be understaffed and lines can take longer. Tips, they do not accept credit cards, nor Apple Pay, only cash/debit/EBT. They have a great bread/bakery section! Just watch their expiration dates. That sourdough loaf is worth it at $3. read more

I've been here twice since my bank is in the area. I've got to say, this market has a large selection of goods and pretty darn good prices. My other half loved all the various seafood and meat selections. I found quite alot of meatless items I've notvseen before. I'm happy , ways happy for variety. Both of us are impressed by the produce section, the cheese availability and frozen foods. There are name brands, some brands I'm not familiar with and some that appear to be store brands. What impressed me was how bright and clean the store is as well as how the layout gives you enough room to get around. I purchased enough food and goods to restock my pantry. This place is my late nite last minute shopping grocery. It's gets busy during the day price is average but grocery sometimes not really that fresh but overall most of the time it is. This place open 24 hours but during after hours self check out can be crazy. And there is only 1 register open. It's also off of 303 loop and in inconvenience if you needed something last minute . Went in at 4:30am Sunday Dec 15 2024. First and last time we will be in. They had what we needed, but never again. However the first thing that greeted us was the main entry isle was close. No one was working in it and it was a disaster area with boxes everyplace. ok.. then we had to go through a checkout lane and all were blocked. So if your going to close off your main entry isle give customers a way in. When we started looking for things wee needed we found the store a complete disaster area. Open boxes, closed boxes blocking many isles and no easy path around them. Trash and debris everywhere. I get it, they are stocking but it's a 24 hour store and they need to keep it respectable for customers. Customers still need to be able to easily navigate the store. The stockers need to clean up after themselves and do things in a manner that it doesn't interfere with shoppers. We also went to buy a bottle of liquor only to find out at the register they don't sell it during certain hours. How about blocking off the booze so people don't tote it to the register just to get told "No". Honestly, the management staff should be ashamed and embarrassed. If you can't keep your store presentable 24 hours don't be open 24 hours. read more

Sometimes I try a salad here for lunch. The crispy chicken salad is only $3.50 plus about 40 cents for the dressing. It is hit or miss, but today it was good lettuce, lots of cheddar cheese and mostly good pieces of white meat breaded chicken. Worth a try if you must. They have 5 salad varieties. read more

the service i had there was absolutely terrible when i was using self-checkout this cashier was watching as if i stole something and was very rudely saying "15 16 17 you got more then that" and i counted 15 so it was only a few more and then when they charged me they charged me for 5 more or 20 cans and i only got 17 and another time i went there the same person was acting very rude to me now i don't know their name if i did i would've put it on here and most times they don't even have the products i want and since i use gallon water they dont have the brand i like i usually prefer to go to albertsons or fry's because winco has done nothing for me its not even cheap anymore thats what i came for but Walmart does better now read more

I love WinCo. Great prices and they do have good prices for raw chicken. You can get a pack of 6 at WinCo for $13. At Safeway is 2 in a pack for $13. They have good prices for produce. It's a better choice to shop. Safeway and Fry's got a bit expensive. read more

Not my thing. Ventured way out of my way to check this place out, because I received a coupon in the mail. Figured it was worth a shot. Nowhere on the coupon did it mention that WinCo only takes cash, check, ebt or debit card. None of which I had on me. There were a lot of people by the entrance when I arrived. If there was a sign on the door indicating the payment options I completely missed it. I spent an hour shopping only to not be able to purchase the items when I got to the front. It is kind of a mix of Sam's Club, meets grocery store. They have items that are sold in regular grocery size quantities. There are also items that are sold in larger bulk sizes. There is an impressive selection of self service bulk items. (Nuts, flour, dried fruit...) That was the one thing that I really liked. It was a larger selection than most Sprouts stores. Store also has a bakery. Other than some special sale items, in general, prices on items did not seem that great. It wasn't impressive enough for me to make the drive out again. read more

Winco and Safeway are about one mile from my home. Both places are very good and I shop in both. However, Winco is much cheaper. It has lot of budget meat cuts. But in among these are some really good inexpensive New York Strip steaks, big thick pork chops, calves liver and a few other goodies if you look for them. The staff is very nice. I love Winco. I was sad when I had to stop shopping Winco because curbside pick up was not provided. But recently I've gotten the courage up to go back and shop in the store. The prices are still great and the variety is good. But mask-wearing is not required. Yes, there is a sign, but employees do not approach customers who take their masks off or refuse to wear one. On my last visit, several employees were wearing their masks under their noses and I didn't see that the conveyor belt was sprayed with sanitizer and wiped between customers. Fortunately there is self check out. But please empower your employees to make some attempt to enforce the mask requirement so the rest of us feel safer. I went in to the WinCo off of the 303 and Bell Rd. to grab a few items and the self checkouts were closed and you had ONE CHECKER...and a few people were unloading pallets. That's cool but maybe just maybe more people need hired. I understand people don't want to work but maybe pay a bit higher than minimum wage then maybe more people would want to work for your company! I believe Walmart starts people around $15 an hour. Make working for you worth the people's time also. From what I see and hear there are way to many people that are PART TIME..c'mon now you're a huge multi billion dollar business that could have more FULL TIME employees not just managers I'm sure! read more

The store is clean, and the location is convenient. What I have come to the conclusion is that trying to be polite and smiling with some of the staff (not all) is not the most pleasant experience. Not being native to AZ, you pick up the energy of those who are pissed to work in customer service (cashier)very quickly. When you pay for your goods and services, it can feel like you're paying for a side of a "bad attitude," as well. Can the store manager refund the "bad attitude" part of the purchase that you didn't expect to pay for? Here's an idea...give a 20% discount off of the self-check out transactions to incentivize customers to avoid the cashiers altogether. Pay the customer to avoid a bad customer service experience. Will look for a new store where my dollar is appreciated. read more

My review is based on a quick walk about to get a few items to take home but I was impressed. Also worth noting my visit was late in the evening and traffic was very limited. Anyhow, the prices here were great. Not 100% sure, but thinking prices very similar to Walmart but better environment/shopping experience. I liked the store layout. Deals hit you in the face the minute you walk in. Shopping aisles laid out well. Oh, and the bulk items are everywhere here. From spices, to chocolates, to animal food, there is something for everyone. One real sour note with me though is their refusal to accept credit cards. My wife and I travel from Goodyear to shop here . I was always used to shopping at Fry's from a kid with my parents to now so when we heard about the lower prices at Winco I was very skeptical but went with my wife. The first thing I noticed is how big the store was and how clean and big the isles were. The next thing was the bulk goods section and I was surprised at how many different bills goods there were. Then we made it to the deli section and I looked at the prices of the deli meat and was still surprised at the lower price difference than Fry's, now I have a smile on my face. Walking through the isle and grabbing our groceries I continue to notice the lower prices and getting happier. Our basket is full and ready to check out and I see it's a self bagging store and my smile goes away. My wife and love to guess at what we think the total will be so we looked at each and gave our guesses and the cashier told the total I was shocked and now I am enjoying bagging my own groceries. We both guess close to each other and the difference was a savings of $50.00 or more compared to Fry's. We are now loyal Winco customers and only go elsewhere for little things we need now. read more

Since my friend introduced this store to me, I already fell in love with this place the first I came here! Okay, let me explain why it's my number 1 store to do groceries: 1.This is HUGE for a grocery store. Therefore there's so much stuffs you can find in here than most stores as for groceries. I like their bulk area a lot! They have different varieties of pasta ,beans, rice, cheese,flour, sugar, coffee, even candies, pretzels, cookies, etc. Anything you can think of they absolutely have it! 2. I love their produce section. They got fruits here that I cannot find at the regular grocery stores. Fruits like Asian pears, and I love it because they even have cassava or yucca root and radish in here and some other things that I can only find at the asian store. As for vegetables, they got more of them here and fresh too. Freshness is one of my issues in other stores, some of the fruits and veggies they are selling are not fresh anymore that they need to be discarded already. Their meat section is amazing too. They got different meat to choose from even seafoods. 3.You can save a lot of money if you shop in here! I can get a lot of goods in here without having to spend so much. Their prices are way lesser in here! They're a lot cheaper compare to the rest of the competitors. 4. The store is very organized and clean. So easy to find things you're looking for. 5.Lastly, they have cashier in each check out counter. So GREAT!!! It has always been my number 1 concern with stores like Walmart, they put so many check out counters yet there's only 1 to 3 lanes available! That's very irritating!
