Standard issue Aldi, zero surprises, except they had a decent inventory, and lower prices on their produce compared to other locations. I love this aldi , first you do need to bring your own bags or prepare to pay per bag. The store is not super big but you will find almost everything. They have some name brand items but mostly everything is non brand but that doesn't take away from the quality: prices are also really good and with today's high prices this is a great place to get your weekly grocery needs. First time visiting this location. It appeared new and the parking lot was clean. You have to bring your own bags unless you want to pay for bags at check out. They also require .25 deposit to use a cart. I normally look for an empty box to use to shop with. This location is much smaller than a lot of the locations I've been to. They did have a very good selection of gluten free items in the refrigerated area. The fresh meats, eggs etc are much cheaper than a Fry's or Kroger. Lots of unusual foods and ethnic choices. Not worth driving out to buy ok if you are close by. read more

Checked out the new Aldi at 59th x Bell in Glendale. Super clean parking lot and entry way. This was actually my first time stepping foot in an Aldi. It's obvious claim to fame is the produce which seems to extraordinarily inexpensive even beating out Wal-Mart. 29 cents a pound for bananas is early 2000's-ish pricing which seems unusual, but no complaints from me. The rest of the produce section is similar to the bananas, albeit, not that noticeable. The store is clean and staff are friendly. I can't say I was terribly impressed with the rest of the store unless you are 100% committed to the Aldi brand or their subsidiaries. You won't find any of the big name products here... at least, not in excess. It's unlikely I'm going to do my regular weekly grocery shopping at Wal-Mart or Fry's and then scoot over to Aldi at 59th x Bell to just buy their produce. Again, that is simply a personal preference. I wouldn't discourage anyone from doing all of their shopping at Aldi. It's obvious their prices are low, but everything in their store is an Aldi branded product. Do your own research. Great experience today and awesome new Aldi location. So, I can tell that AZ is new to the whole Aldi experience! First off, you need to bring your own bags. To keep costs down, Aldi only offers bags for sale. But, you can do what we do and grab one of their many empty, or almost empty (just put the few remaining items on the shelf where you got the box from) boxes, and fill it up before and after checkout. Second, carts cost a quarter. You get it back when you return the cart to the store corral. This encourages people to not be lazy asses and leave the carts wherever. Third, cashiers sit. Why? Who cares? Do you want to stand for 8 hours straight? No one cares if that was how it was done back in the day, Margaret. Sitting doesn't make you any less friendly, or efficient, at your job. This leads me to.... Fourth, cashiers are crazy fast. They have a set amount of items that they need to ring through in an hour, so don't dilly dally and decide what you do and don't need at the checkout. You should have had that all settled and decided before you got in line. Prices are in line with most other grocery stores, and as is normal, prices will be higher on some things and lower on others. No need to grumble, either buy it or don't. Aldi is pretty neat when it comes to different times of the year. For instance, in February, when Chinese New Year is celebrated, there will be lots of Asian specialty food to be found. In May, for Cinco de Mayo, the emphasis will be Mexican. In September, for Oktoberfest, German specialties. And, because it is a German company, for Christmas, there is tons of Lebkuchen and Marzipan, along with other Winternacht branded sweets and goodies. Kinder branded stuff of various sorts is usually carried year-round. There is also an aisle or two of stuff that varies throughout the year, and when it's gone, it's gone, so if you feel the price is right, you best buy it right then. Lego, innertubes, clothing, home decor like serving trays and candles, pet supplies like beds or toys, gardening stuff like pots and plant stands, all sorts of different stuff can be found in these aisles. Generally, there are also plants of various kinds for sale throughout the year, and occasionally bouquets. I have very good luck with poinsettia plants from here lasting an extremely long time. They may be on the smaller side, but they are also cheap! So, check your expectations at the door, stop in, and spend some time here (it'll take you, like, 30 minutes, tops). You may find a few things worth your hard earned dollar, or you may not. But at least soak in the experience and really look. You never know....you might just find that one thing that you never knew you needed (Casa Mamita Black Bean and Corn Salsa, Happy Farms cheese). Oh! And the reason you may only see one cashier? Now open as of April 27! My first visit ever to an Aldi was today. Wow, was it busy! There was already a crowd waiting outside at 9am when they were about to open for the day. Unsure if it was because it was a new store that everyone wanted to check out or if it is always like this because it's Aldi. Maybe combination of both? There are some unique items that they carry that I haven't seen anywhere else (frozen sushi rolls anyone?) along with common staples. I was hoping to pick up quite a bit of stuff but sadly, I had a hard time finding anything that my family or I liked. They say that they can meet the majority of your weekly grocery shopping. This may be true for some folks but not me. I purchase a wide range of grocery and household items and they don't carry some of them. However, this will be a great secondary store to supplement the household with the random and unique bits every once in awhile. Prices here are comparable to other grocery stores. I will say that when they have sales, they are good sales with noticeable savings and not token amounts like a few cents off the normal price. If you never visited before, I highly encourage you to visit their website and read through the FAQs. It is different from other grocery stores and this will help you be prepared for a pleasant shopping experience. What a Delight! Clean, tidy Orderly. Well stocked. The Aisle of shame was a tad low on the items I wanted but otherwise our experience here was all we hoped for! Two days prior to Christmas and yet plenty of carts and the aisles weren't overly crowded! I love Aldi's quick and easy shopping! I make a quick check of the dairy and frozen items, and grab some veggies and fruits.

Nice little store! It's always clean, not too crowded, well stocked, and the people who work there are really nice.

Don't bother. The products are standard corporate quality available in Walmart or any other supermarket, but without any organic or plant-based options. Prices on certain items might be lower than other places but some things (kombucha, for example) are more expensive. Most of the shoppers have bad attitudes: people who will cut you off if you're 'in their way,' while pretending you don't exist or giving you side eye. And Aldi charges to use a cart and to use one of their paper bags for your groceries. You're better off shopping local at Sprouts and paying more, or shopping discount at Winco and getting better selection and better service. read more

Went to Aldi for the first time today. Went to pay and the cashier was very rude and when we asked a question about the bag process instead of explaining how it works she said you need to get your stuff I have moved on to the next customer. We had our trader joes bag in the car had we known. Probably won't go back. read more

Selections smaller. Bread we bought was so dry we threw it away. Fruits and veggies are fresh. Only large packs of meat and variety is smaller. Some prices are cheaper, but some are not. Only one checker and we were asked to use self check which we declined. They put scanned items in basket and you put in bags. We didn't feel like it was something we would do again. Employees seemed so down. Checker never said one word to us at all. To describe it in one word, it would be depressing. read more

Went on opening weekend and they were well stocked and had a ton of staff on hand. Other reviews complain about 'paying for a cart". The quarter is a deposit. You're not paying for it unless you don't return the cart, which decreases the need for employees in the parking lot rounding up carts when they could be helping people in the store. People also complain about lack of selection. As someone who gets decision paralysis, I actually prefer it. It's also less wasteful and helps keep costs down. Not impressed. The whole thing is weird...from paying for a cart to paying for a bag. Small selection of items...you are better off going to Winco. One cashier in the whole place...took forever to check out. 2 self checkout stations were full and the only cashier had to keep helping them...lines were way long. read more
