Always well stocked with the every day things you need and many new things to try. Clean and organized. Employees are very nice and extremely helpful. The food is amazing! So many things that we use on a regular basis and so many wonderful new things to try! It's my favorite place to shop, but I don't get there as often as I would like. The closest Aldi to me is in New River AZ and I live in Prescott Valley AZ. We are supposed to get one in our town and it would be a great addition to the few places we have locally. My original review is below. I decided to try it again, this time with my wife, and we both agree that we will never be back. On top of all the challenges I posted before, this time the store was busy and they had ONE employee. That's right, one single employee, doing checkout. The line stretched across the store and down an aisle. Crazy!! We also noticed that most of the products seem to be this odd generic version of everything, and many have a lot of nutritional issues, like crazy high sodium. Some important basics like black beans were not to be found. But maybe they have them, and here's another problem. We found canned beans in two places, and pasta in three places. How are you supposed to pick a product this way? We got one in the limited selection they have, and then find more in another section of the store. read more

My mom always wanted to visit Aldi's. Today I took her. Easy access in with no steps. Carts are a quarter, so bring change. I love how their employees get a nice ergonomic office chair to sit while checking out. It does not slow down. We were checked out in a flash! Mom wasn't impressed as I, but we didn't leaven empty handed. Ground chicken at 3.99 a package. They even had organic corn chips for under $3 a bag. Not really totoo much common name brand items. I would give this store an average rating primarily for two reasons. The store is sloppy, and not presented well compared to so many other Aldi's. Most importantly, when leaving my Customer exp was such that I had, as I was packing my things away into my bags and opened the product I asked an associate walking by working in customer service my entire life; I feel the appropriate answer would've been of course give me a second. My first visit and I was very underwhelmed. I had heard nothing but great things but it's not for me. If you're into a diet full of cheap, mostly processed foods - this place is for you! Or if you're feeding a house full of kids - I could see how the grocery bill would be better here. Lots of brand name items (Cheeto, Oreo, Pillsbury) but mostly brands I've never heard of. Produce was less but offered limited options. Spices and milk were CHEAP! I shop Costco, Safeway & Fry's, working the sales each week, therefore saving money for two adults. I have never been a regular Aldi shopper, but was happy to see some stores popped up locally in Arizona. My experience with Aldi previously was with locations in the north east, which seemed to have better inventory from my recollection. A lot of the items I just found to have too many additives or chemicals, or in the case of produce just not fresh enough. I wanted to get apples, but they weren't any cheaper than Walmart and most were spoiled. I did manage to find some amazingly sweet blackberries and a few other pieces of produce that were satisfactory. I picked up their bacon wrapped jalapeño popper shrimp in the frozen aisle which were good, but a little too salty for my tastes. Most of the cheeses were nice, but I found the meat and cheese tray to be an absolute disappointment. Not only did it lack flavor, but the cheese was dried out (this also was supposed to be good until March next year). My favorite was the havarti cheese with French onion for eating cold, and the borganzola for melting. The Wahlburgers bacon was a neat find and pretty tasty too. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way for this store, but if I was nearby I might grab a few odds and ends. Hence the closer I lived to an Aldi the more likely I would be to shop more often (sadly I do not live close to one). I couldn't see myself relying on the selection or lack there or for everyday shopping, I feel I would still need another store for all my core shopping. Meats and cheeses are definitely a good deal here, as well as some other things like their frozen appetizers. I do personally enjoy Trader Joe's selection better than Aldi overall. I visited on a whim so didn't have any bags which is mildly annoying. Luckily I had a quarter for the cart, which felt more like going back in time to me. My first time at an Aldi. Excited To try. First, if you are going to use the cart, make sure you bring a quarter. You'll get the quarter back after you return the cart. I thought the grocery store was nice, clean, had all sorts of stuff for quick shopping trip. What i did notice is the price! Cheaper than most places. I used to go to ALDI in Chicago and it definitely doesn't compare with the Arizona one. I feel like I'm Chicago it had more items. I rather just go to frys or something. They still have the quarter for carts! Its been said that they have us put quarters in the carts so we can bring the carts back to get our quarter back to and they don't have to hire people for cart pushers. It's funny, when we are in Europe, we always find time to stop in an ALDI's if we see one and pick up something for our trip. But back home in the States, ALDI's seems to be a bit austere. Small selections, no major brands, no unique items that makes them special, like their sister grocer Trader Joe's. The late German businessman Theo Albrecht and his brother Karl developed Albrecht Diskont, now known by its acronym ALDIs. But after a dispute, the brothers split ALDIs and went their separate ways. ALDI Nord operates Trader Joe's, while Aldi Süd operates ALDI's in the US and southern Germany. We came here for a peak and to rekindle some of our fond overseas memories of ALDIs. But alas, the store felt sparse to us and seemed partially focused on bulk. An example would be their fresh vegetable department as you walk in. We needed one green pepper, but all ALDIs sells are packages of three. Same in other parts of the store, where something like salami comes in two pound bags, or 3 oz packages. Grrr, nothing in between. Oh yes, remember to bring a 25 cent quarter with you. It's the only way you can get a cart. You need to put it into the chained handle to remove it. You'll get it back later, when you return the cart and re-connect the chain to the others. LOL ALDIs does have some really good prices and everyone who works there seems super friendly. But.... It's different. BTW, remember to bring your own plastic/paper bags, because ALDIs does charge ten cents for theirs. Three Stars, A-Okay. read more

Well, I usually state...I don't give out 5-star reviews just willy nilly...LOL!!! However, this Aldi location is a 5-star establishment and I think it will stay that way based on its location. Let me start by saying I have been to 6 other Aldi locations across the country and this one here in Peoria is BY FAR the cleanest, most well lit, and uniquely designed store EVER. Now this ALDI is like all the others, they require you to use a quarter to use their baskets although today since people didn't know they let people use a basket if they needed one...LOL!!!! Aldi is associated with Trader Joe's so if you like shopping at Trader Joe's you will LOVE shopping here. Now I saved the best for last...they have several VEGAN items here...WOHOOOO I almost lost my mind. (Please check the pictures I posted). This is how I really knew that ALDI has made some major changes to what it actually stocks in their stores now and I couldn't be happier about that. The staff was super friendly and of course, a lot of them are from the midwest where ALDI is pretty much an institution. The prices are excellent especially on produce, fruits, and of course the VEGAN ITEMS. The selection is pretty good as well and it will only get better I can promise you that. Let me finish by saying this...for those of you who live in Peoria...YOU MUST MAKE THIS A WEEKLY DESTINATION TO SHOP...LOL...I mean it. I am very happy that Aldi has finally made it to the Valley of The Sun! This new Peoria location is definitely needed in this area. The store is clean and organized like lost of the Aldi locations I have previously visited throughout the United States and very similar to Lidl stores in Europe. Prices are always great, and when they do markdowns they are even better. There was plenty of staff available to help you find whatever you needed and everyone was wearing their face masks and following Covid19 guidelines. With Aldi remember to bring a quarter for your basket and bring your own bags, or you can grab a box if they have some still on the floor from stocking or just buy a bag at the register. I try not to buy into the hype as it has bitten me more times than I care to remember but as we were driving through a Phoenix suburb, I noticed an Aldi and asked my brother to stop so I can see what the fuss is all about. I've heard so much about this chain of grocery stores that is sweeping the United States plus the wide variety of plant-based options including a lot of vegan and international options. We walked in and I immediately sensed that this is not the Aldi's everyone has been raving about. It was more like a cross between Dollar General and Grocery Outlet and I am not being offensive to either one of those businesses. They are what they are. They don't pretend to be anything else than what they are. I totally understand the concept of Aldi's, but this location was more like a dumping ground for products that didn't sell in multiple other locations. The food quality was close to the expiration date, and I did not see one item that compelled me to buy it. The only plant-based vegan option was the Good Planet Vegan cheese slices in either American or Cheddar flavors. I am familiar with Good Planet, and they make some really good plant-based cheeses, but these packages had cheese slices that were frayed and coming apart. They were most definitely not to Good Planet's quality standards. I was put off by the number of low-discount hampers and pet bedding for such a 'boogie European' grocery chain. I was expecting more goat cheese and soda crackers and fewer plastic hampers for three dollars. I know that there is a lot of generic branding so really don't know the quality but some of the name brands were so obscure that I was very hesitant to recommend them to my brother. My Aldi experience was extremely less than desired, and I don't get it. Trader Joe's and many local Cooperatives are so superior, and I can't in good conscious recommend Aldi's for anything and that includes the green onions. read more

So as you can see on my first review I loved this place and thought it was worth the 30 minute trek from my home. After eating or opening some of the products I bought I'm thinking twice. That night I opened a package of buffalo chicken deli meat to find it covered in slime. Not wanting to risk my husband getting food poisoning in the trash it went. Fast forward a week. Making a small charcuterie board I unwrapped a piece of smoked gouda. After removing the wax the cheese was growing mold. Mind you they best buy date was Oct. 2021. Ugh. In the trash it went. When I add the products I've thrown away, the cost of the bags I had to buy (because I wasn't aware or prepared) and the cost of gas to drive there, this store was MORE than if I would have just gone to my neighborhood grocery and bought name brand. read more

Ok I tried again to check out ALDI and just as my other stop at a different location I left unimpressed. I just don't get it. It makes no sense to use a cart you need to put a quarter in. The store isn't very large and I just didn't see much of a selection. To top it off you have to bag your own groceries and bring your own bag unless you want to buy theirs. Which is fine if you didn't have to buy everything , put it back in your cart...just to unload it again on their counter by the exit to get out of the line for others to buy their groceries. We went to Aldi's for the first time because it's near our daughters house. We live about 30 minutes away and we're very excited. We had both of our grandchildren and did some shopping, but had a HORRIBLE experience with the cashier. He was rude and in a hurry, and made me feel rushed and very uncomfortable. He put all of our belongings in a different basket than the grandkids were in and then wanted me to hurry up and move my grandchildren so he could have the other cart back. I recommended in the future that he not make old people lift children in and out of carts, and that in the future he should put the food in the cart the children are in. He then made a snide comment and rushed me to the side to pack my belongings. I don't know if I will go back. I am a military veteran with PTSD. Been hearing about ALDI coming to the valley for a while now, and was thrilled that this one finally opened up not far from us. Earlier this week we made our first trek down to check it out, and first impressions were pretty good! If you've ever shopped at ALDI in Europe or similar grocers (Lidl, Spar, Rema 1000, Superbrugsen, Netto, etc.) you'll be very unsurprised by the look, feel and overall layout of the store. As ever in European grocers, produce is the first place you walk into, almost always on your left, followed shortly by bread and grain products, eventually winding around to the cheese and dairy at the rear of the store. I have to admit, it was kind of fun to get that Euro vibe even though we're thousands of miles away from the genuine article. The experience is certainly as close to authentic as you're going to get stateside, at least from a look and feel perspective. With regards to the layout and the spacing, the aisles are actually far wider than what you'll find in most parts of Europe, owing to the fact that a significant number of people in this country wouldn't otherwise fit. What's more, I'm happy to report that you won't find any ridiculous music playing here, nor are there any annoying voice overs/adverts. Nobody in their right mind would do this at any grocer in Europe, and it was a welcome change of pace after having to endure the relentless mix of pop, hip-hop and R&B that those fuckers at Fry's subject their customers to. But, alas, I digress. Getting back the actual offerings at this tore, I thought the product selection was pretty decent and everything seemed well organized. As I said, the layout was all too familiar, so finding things wasn't a problem at all. I will say I was slightly disappointed that there were so few imported products available, but I can understand that from a cost perspective, as it simply wouldn't pan out with their business model. We did spot a few things from Germany, mainly chocolate and some soups, but by and large it's house brands that you've probably already bought somewhere else under another name and another, higher price point. A couple things I'll call out are the dairy and meat sections. The offerings here were a bit different from what you'll get anywhere else, and the variety was quite good. We opted to try some of the lean ground beef and it was fantastic. I especially liked that they use more European style packaging for the meat products. Definitely going to be buying that again, as it was much better tasting than the comparative garbage we've gotten from competing chains. At the end of this experience, you'll find yourself at a checkout process that, once again, is mostly authentic to the Euro grocers. Yes, you do have to pay for a bag if you want one, but it's reusable, super cheap and that's how it's done in Europe, folks. All the employees we came across seemed friendly and welcoming, which is a lot more than I can say for their competitors. The store was impeccably clean as well, and everything was well stocked. I don't know that you can ask for too much more. On the whole, it's a welcome change of scenery from the familiar grocery chains, and I'm glad we finally have a new place to shop that has different products and moreover, a different experience. Always find a hidden treasure and of course great prices. Something to to look at every time

It really nice to see European customs in America, something we need more of. The way they allow their employees to sit while working and their business choice to reduce as much waste as possible is amazing. I also like that you can use a quarter to rent a cart and get it back. It's the 21st century and we need more of this in American stores. This practice actually encourages people to bring the cart back or lose money for being lazy. It's Gucci! I did like how small the store was, which is a bit bigger than trader joes and had mostly everything I liked. I do think they should incorporate a refiller station similar to sprouts which may bring in more consumers. Otherwise, this place is a good example of how grocery stores should be treating their employees. American work culture needs to go! read more

Hey this place is pretty cool. These are those fancy European style grocery stores you see popping up all over the place. It's very clean and very neat inside. You will need a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart but if you forgot your change at home like any other normal person you can borrow their mobility rascals since those have decent sized baskets as well. As far as what they have inside? It's lots of brands you might not be familiar with but the quality of the products is high unlike most store brands you come across. For example they sell the same cookies as the girl scouts, in a different package, for about two bucks as opposed to whatever ludacris price the scouts charge. Meat, chicken and milk are all cheaper here than at Walmart. If you're hurting in this economy, this is the place to stop for any of those. I just wish the store was bigger and offered more selection. This definitely looks like a store my grandma would shop at. She looks down her nose at most grocery stores and she hates Costco. read more

I like Aldi for their meat and dairy products. I also love that they don't have the dyes and as many chemicals in the shelf products. This store in particular is always clean and has some really nice options. My only gripe or warning is sometimes the produce will be bad when I get it home and unwrap it. One of my fave stores to grocery shop. I go here for a lot of the basic staples. They have great sales and the store is always super clean. If you are looking for a specific brand, this might not be the store for you. However I have found most of their brands taste the same as name brand. They also don't have super specific items (like Chinese 5 spice or a 15 types of cream cheese) Basically if you need cheap produce that's quality and basic staples this is the place. I'm from a place where there are many ALDI stores, and if you're a fan of saving money, and you can handle variety in your life, I think you will dig ALDI. Much of what they sell is private label, the same as Trader Joe's does. For example- the packaging, the artwork, the cookie itself looks like an Oreo, but it's not called an Oreo. It tastes 98% like an Oreo, but it's half the price. Sometimes, there are no preservatives so it won't survive a nuclear blast like an Oreo will, but you understand me, right? They rotate stock often. You won't always find the same stuff week to week- the way they do bidness, if it's not selling, they don't stock it. There are some misses (the marinated chicken thighs are salty af, the thin crust frozen pizza is kinda meh), but if you want fresh veggies, fruits, meats to grill or make sammiches with, try ALDI! I walked in just to check the joint out. I didn't need anything or plan on buying anything, UNLESS I saw something super exciting or even unique or something that I couldn't live without. I spent ONE dollar on a Valentine's item. Not a budget thing, I just didn't see anything that was of interest. The worst part is that the isles are so small that only two carts fit. SO, if a certain someone parks their cart on the right side and a certain someone parks their cart on the left side as they are in la la land not realizing that you are WAITING for them to move their BUTTS out of your way, you will either have to pull out you phone and look at Facebook waiting for them to move or turn back around. In my case, a woman had her cart with kids parked right in front of the Valentine's stuff that I wanted to look at closer. I waited and waited and I finally made my grab over her kids. I know, I broke the six foot rule, but I had a mask on. It's not my thing. I won't return. But, if you love it, buy up!!! read more

I have loved Aldi for years. The new Peoria store is VERY clean and the staff is super friendly. Aldi is my first stop for the prices that makeup my Mediterranean diet! They have an amazing selection of Olives, Fresh Vegetables & Fruit and Meats & Cheeses. Aldi is a different shopping experience. Don't forget your Quarter for the shopping cart and your reusable bag (although you can grab and reuse cardboard boxes or purchase paper or plastic bags). Try them out. My first time in an Aldi store and I was not impressed with paying a quarter to "borrow" a cart. Sorry I don't know too many folks who carry spare change let alone a quarter. Luckily I was saved by a sweet older woman who gave me a quarter so I can shop and check out this new establishment. I have shopped overseas at Aldi in the UK but it was not the same. I was in the area looking to pick up my last items for Christmas dinner. I was hard pressed to find creamed horseradish and the sour cream I purchased was frozen! There goes that onion dip :( I picked a few tasty items to indulge in but nothing to really cross off my list. Likely will not be back as there is not enough to complete my grocery essential list without having to go to another store. Also since store is small, there is limited inventory and selection. Aisles are lower and somewhat visible so a plus if you forgot something. BTW, you need to bring your own bag and bag your own items after checking out. I'm fine with self check out but they don't give you much time to bag your items before someone else's items come along to push you along. Don't forget to return your cart to get your quarter back. I think everybody that is leaving negative reviews about Aldi and their choices to lower operating costs to impart the savings to their customers are hilarious! As the saying goes, the true test of goodness in a person is whether they chose to return a shopping cart to the corral. Well, Aldi's system rewards those people that actually do this. When you leave a shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot because you are too lazy to put it where it belongs, there has to be somebody that does it for you. That employee needs to earn a wage, and that wage is passed on to customers in the form of prices on goods. Aldi switches this by forcing you to do the right thing, so they don't have to hire more employees due to your selfishness. This is just one small part of Aldi's operations concept, there are many others as well. So go ahead and shop somewhere else if you don't like the way they do business - you are the type of people I would rather not share a store with anyways. read more

This location was nicely stocked. I overheard what looked like a manager being incredibly rude to another customer though. The guy ringing up the groceries couldn't have been more careless while handling my stuff... throwing things in the cart like I'm not about to pay for it. Nothing was damaged but I was worried he'd pierce the plastic on the meat I was buying, or throw cans on top of my bread. He also didn't ask me for my ID when he rung up my alcohol. I get carded everywhere else and look like a teenager still... all in all every employee looked and acted like they hated their life and job. But I like European style grocery stores and bagging my own stuff so I will come back. I'll just have to hope the employees will be having a better day next time. read more

Think of Trader Joe's with a smaller selection. Great price on eggs and some cheeses. Meat was OK, with limited selection. Canned vegetables very limited. Coffee was limited with no K-Cups. Milk was same price as Fry's at $2.59 per gallon. Freezer entree's seemed competitive. Cereal was mostly their store brand (Melville), but very good at low prices. I love Aldi because its clean and affordable! I have read the comments about the shopping cart and im actually amused about it. I have recently moved from Germany to the US and really nobody just leaves their shopping cart next to the car there anyway. That's why I can't even relate lol. The American shopping experience is relying on convenience and receiving services for nothing. I guess the complains about the carts are just a cultural matter. But coming back to this store I can't not mention out enough how affordable things are. Milk and Cheese products are significantly lower or their chicken breast that comes with a recyclable lunch box. My first shop at ALDI was a full chart and I just paid about $80. And about the availability... if you haven't noticed we have supply chain issues everywhere so the Items you are talking about must be some special selected items. The store itself is nice and new. My concern is with customers who are coming in with a mask and the store is not doing anything about it. When I was there a group of 3 women came in maskless and no one from the store team said anything . In the midst of our pandemic I think more precaution is needed. read more
