Been here twice in 5 years. I'm a Trader Joe's shopper. I would never buy produce or meat here. I grabbed a few odd items for my camping trip. Cheez-Its. Was one item I purchased not much of a savings box was smaller than normal and same price. But the cheezits were stale! Threw away the box. This store was terrific for a long time but it's gone downhill in the area of customer service. Tonight I was selecting some produce and an employee, who I later learned was actually the manager, stopped in front of me with a huge buffing machine saying "I have to clean here." He did not ask me politely to move, nor did he thank me for moving. He basically told me to get out of the way. I was surprised but continued to shop. Toward closing time another employee yelled in a loud booming voice, "Listen everybody, the store"s closing in 5 minutes. All customers have to get out!" I kid you not. A new Aldi's being built in a nearby community. Hopefully they will be better. Low prices should not mean low customer service read more

The staff members are multidimensional, friendlier than found in most stores, and so efficient. Aldi's product selection meets most of our everyday needs. In general, the prices are lower than COSTO's, but with the added advantage that the packages are normal-family sized. Vegetables were once marginal, but are today the quality matches or exceed standard supermarket quality. (For instance, their avocados do not rot-before-the-ripen, unlike those from other stores on Russell Street.) Some excellent products hit the store at irregular intervals. Examples are their German Jaffa cakes and their muesli breakfast cereal. Stock up! Each week Aldi carries a few very low-priced and unusual novelty and household items. These were once much more exciting than they now are today, but they are still worth reviewing. I have shopped at Aldi's about four times a week since it opened. The queues move quickly because most employees can perform any function, and they 'just appear' when needed. I have observed folk of every ethnicity checking out, and I have never observed the least hint of inappropriate behavior, ever. By mistake, I once purchased a 12-case of their beans believing it was their excellent baked beans (they are less than a quarter of the price of the Heinz equivalent, but just as tasty). I returned the case, and the new salesperson must have thought that I was involved in some kind of con-game, and acted petulantly. This was most uncharacteristic of an Aldi employee, so next time I engaged this employee in conversation and discovered that his home life was extraordinarily challenging and he had brought it to work with him that day. I know, in theory, home problems should be left there, but most of us fail in this regard at some time during our lives. He was gone a couple of weeks later. I hope that he found a new position that enabled him to mitigate some of his domestic troubles. read more

This store takes a bit of getting used to if you usually shop at places like Big Y, Stop & Shop or even Target. Aldi is the parent company for Trader Joe's and comes out of Europe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldi); the model is a bit sparse but the products are solid and high quality. It may not be your first choice, but it is well worth the stop for staples. In addition to cash, EBT and debit cards, the Hadley Aldi has begun accepting Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, as well. read more

My husband purchased fresh strawberries at Aldi and didn't realize until he got home that they had been frozen and were a mushy mess. I threw them out but not before taking a picture of them. Today, when I went to get credit, I encountered a customer service representative who who hates customers and resents having to provide service. She was surly, bordering on rude throughout the entire transaction, never cracking a smile. She is clearly a perfect candidate for a customer service position!. I will NEVER go to Aldi again! Ater leaving Aldi, I went to Whole Foods, Walmart, Target, Stop & Shop, and BIG Y, where at each location, I was assited by a friendly helpful associate. Great place for groceries on a budget. It's the cheaper and less flashy version of Trader Joe's or a smaller version of Price Right. Great for canned goods, basic snacks, eggs, milk, etc... Tips: Bring a quarter to use their grocery carts, don't worry though, you get your quarter back when you return the cart. Bring your own grocery bags so you don't have to buy theirs. If you forget your bags, just grab an empty box from off the shelves to carry your groceries to your car. Cash or Debit Cards and EBT cards only, no Credit Cards. read more

Pretty good Aldi's. Produce looked better than the other Aldi stores I've visited. Service was kind of slow with only one register open. Shelves weren't that well maintained as far as removing empty boxes and "facing" product to the front. Plenty of parking. read more

We had been shopping here for years. And recently experienced discriminatory and rude behavior from a newer particular cashier. We complained to the corporate customer service. Initially it seemed as if the situation would be resolved. However, we never heard back from the district manager. After we experienced the same treatment a second time we made a second complaint. We are coming up on a month with no follow up again after the district manager assured me he would get back to me. This store and brand does not take concerns of racism and bigotry seriously. If you are a person of color and don't like to be discriminated against, spend elsewhere. We gave Aldi every opportunity to address this and at least address the employee. we will no longer be spending our money at this store or any other Aldi store. Thanks. read more

Aldi is a great place to shop for snacks (although it's private label, the taste is on par with national brands), but is not my main grocery shopping destination. A couple of downsides is they only accept debit cards or cash, as well as having to bring your own bags if you don't want to pay for a bag. Most of the time only one register is open, so expect huge lines on the weekend. Weekdays are better times to shop there or at any other grocer. read more

More of an enthusiast now that I focus on fruits and vegetables. Got a great watermelon. Pork roast good. But never enough unsweetened butter. Tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes at good prices. Green bananas always fine. Baking goods lower priced. Now a fan. read more

The staff are alllllll amazing, friendly, compatent, caring....I really could go on and on about the staff. The prices are amazing, great quality food, fresh and refrigerated. Best prices around. Cashiers are rude. Specifically an older woman by the name of Belinda. I bought an Aldis bag and while I shopped I filled it. Belinda was rude right from the start and was visibly in a bad mood. Why take a job working with people when you maintain zero customer service skills. I rather spend more at big y and stop and shop. read more

I have been following the reviews for the Hadley store. I had several negative experiences there which included a cashier making fun of my husband who suffers from Parkinsonism and disabilities from the military. The last time I shopped there was a truly bazaar experience with a shelf stocker who mimicked me in a disparaging, sarcastic tone when I inquired about where the low fat milk could be found? To make a long story short, she later accused my of "yelling" at her! Huh? That's just the tip of the iceberg. Oh I loved this aldi big time during our extended stay in the greenfield area. Grew up with aldi in Germany and I couldn't survive without one somewhat near me. The store brands are always so so good and amazing quality... just lovely. Their weekly specials are awesome and so affordable, the fruit wasn't as bad when I went as it often is with aldi, so that was amazing. I hope they'll do improvements on produce on the future in general, but this store was very nice. Pleasant staff and I always love to see how cashiers are sitting in chairs here. It's completely the norm in Germany, they NEVER stand in any grocery store there... so seeing that aldi still holds true to their values and values it's workers health and well-being, even though it's the norm not to, in America ... I stopped at Aldi's on Russell St in Hadley Ma. today after work to grab a few things and as usual the line was extremely long. The cashier called for help and a women came out and told me to go to register 4 and someone would be right out. A man came out and sat down without saying hello or anything and started scanning my items and literally throwing them into my cart. He proceeded to throw my bottles of shampoo in the cart and at that point I said " can you please not throw my items in the cart like that?" His response was " I'm only following protocol" all while now throwing cans on top of the shampoo and everything else in my cart. When I say throwing it wasn't just dropping them in he was scanning he was actually throwing the items from the scanner into the cart. I asked again for him to stop throwing my items in the cart. He went on to say that the items are treated worse when shipped and he was following protocol. I said I didn't care about that, I was purchasing these items I didn't want them damaged and he went on to belittle me by saying I'm sorry you don't get it, I'm sorry you don't understand. I told him it wasn't great customer service and he went on to say he was only there because he was covering a shift for someone who called out sick. He was clearly unhappy! I said that wasn't my problem but I am a paying customer and I expected better customer service. The line of people behind me stood staring at him while he finished throwing my items in the cart. I waited to see a manager which I never was able to. I took my items to the car and proceeded to google a phone number for Aldi's in Hadley but nope only a Corp phone number. I called only to find out you can only contact a person by sending an email. I was so thrown off and angry I was shaking at this point. I will NEVER go back to this store as a matter of fact I won't go to any Aldi's again. The service was absolutely horrendous. My receipt says the cashiers name was Billy, he had a shaved head with a man ponytail and facial hair. Beware! He's a really peach. I will be sure friends, family, coworkers and the general public that I interact with in the immediate area on a daily basis know about my experience. Ridiculous that he can act that way! read more

Hate having to bring carriage back to get my quarter. Hate that they don't take credit card. Hate that they can't put groceries in an OPEN bag in the carriage.
