We went to the open house today and sampled some of Aldi's private label products. I tried cheese, crackers, juice, granola bar, and chocolate. All of them were good eating!! Aldi's claim is lower prices, they have most of the items they sell coming from their own brands, which they offer at lower prices. Great idea! Walking around this clean, bright store, the prices did look lower. My wife said the prices are good, but how do the they taste?? Time will tell. We will definitely give this grocery store a try! It is located across the street from Walmart where Michael's used to be. A couple of tips: you have to bag your own groceries, bring your reusable bags or they'll charge you per bag, bring a quarter to use a basket - you'll get it back when you return the basket to the front of the store. read more

Update.. since the last bad experience.. I've been coming to this location lately because of a routine change and this location is along the way.. three times to be precise in the last month and a half... and experience has been great. Aldi is the cousin to Trader Joe's and offer that same small style shopping experience to provide great deals on all types of things from produce to Home Goods, soaps, brooms, Etc. If you want to have a cart, you have to pay $0.25, which is probably to prevent the homeless and the area from walking away with them. Once you return the cart you get your quarterback which is kind of cool. I get great deals here and they have a large selection of organic produce which is the first thing that I look for in a grocery store. But one thing I find unacceptable is the bathrooms. They smell like pee and sinks haven't been scrubbed in goodness knows how long. I can tell the difference between a sink that has become dirty over the course of a day and one that hasn't been properly cleaned in many many days,. I saw three people on staff, and that's more than enough to have the bathrooms cleaned at least twice a day especially considering these are two stall bathrooms, not gigantic Walmart style bathrooms. I will still shop here for the deals and the close location to my house, I will just never come here having to use the bathroom again. read more

I'm a big fan of Aldi in general. They opened stores throughout SoCal about a year or two ago, but I knew of them from back east for many years. This is my closest store and like all others I've been to, it's clean, bright, with a decent selection of fresh fruits, basics, and specialty food items (like cheeses, meats and wines). They're not as big or offer the largest selection like the full-size markets, but they offer the best prices for the quality and great service. There's plenty of parking and don't forget to bring a quarter for the shopping cart (deposit to unlock carts). read more

Place is very good small and quaint. Basically this store is taking the place of fresh n easy. Similar shopping experience but prices are way more reasonable. When I went in for a refund, to my surprise, the cashier Michelle did not ask for my credit card. Instead, she issued a gift card. And I got two other items, and she asked me "do you want to pay with the card"? I thought she meant the gift card, but she took my credit card once again! Gluten Free! I would've never guessed Aldi has a large array of gluten free items! My daughter can't eat gluten and I was told by a friend to check out Aldi. They have bread, bagels, pretzels, yummy cookies, and baking mixes too! The great thing is that Aldi has low prices and gluten free is usually super expensive! read more

I was hesitant about ordering fruits and vegetables, but they did not fail me the last 3 times I ordered. Going to this store was not a good experience for me. Though the store is nice and clean, perhaps because it is new, there is not a whole lot of choices. They were out of the chicken thighs that were on sale and they do not give rain checks like Von's or Albertsons or Stater Bros. there was only one customer service person and one cashier working on a Saturday morning. But then on the other hand the store was not crowded at all on a Saturday morning when most do their grocery shopping. I went down and up the aisle and was not excited about shopping here. So just bought a few items. I was not aware that this store requires a .25 cent deposit to use the carts and they do not provide small plastic bags to put fruits and vegetables. I had some hopes for this place seeing as Trader Joe's and Aldi have the same parent company of Albrecht Discounts. Trader Joe's is owned indirectly through a trust. Anyway, not the same. I went in knowing there wouldn't be brand names, so that wasn't a surprise. This is on par with shopping at the 99 cent store down the street. Everything I can get at Aldi I can get at 99 cent store or Baja Ranch Market (which has insanely good prices on produce). They do have lower prices by using their own brands, but as I said, you can get the same items elsewhere for cheaper. If you need a cart, it's 25 cents. Came in to buy something to make dinner. They have a good selection of items. During checkout the cashier had very poor customer service skills. He rushed me. There wasn't anyone behind me so it wasn't like he was trying to get through a long line of customers. I'd rather go through a self checkout than be rushed like that. read more

This store is very new, nice and clean with nice employees. It's a small/medium sized store like the size of an average CVS. A lot of their own name brand items are really cheap. Their own cereal is $1.29-2.29. Gallon of milk is $1.75-2.45 depending on fat content. Produce section is a little small, but everything looks good in quality. Frozen pizza is like $2.29-4.00. I've never experienced a busy time- it always seems to be almost empty. The checkout lines are therefore short and quick (especially since groceries are not bagged at the end of the conveyor). Efficiency seems to be the mantra throughout the store, and the low prices are the result. A little-known fact: ALDI is the parent company of Trader Joe's, so you may find certain items relabeled at ALDI. I love the new Aldi store! My first time there was during opening week and despite the store being really busy i still got all my items and was out in about 10-15 minutes. Most of their items is their own brand but they taste really good and if not pretty much exactly like the big brands. Bring a quarter to rent a cart, don't worry you will get the quarter back when you return the cart. I think its a cool idea because it keeps people from being lazy and leaving carts all over the parking lot and potentially hitting other peoples cars. Another tip is to bring your reusable bags and if you don't have any they have bags there that you can buy. My absolute favorite part about Aldi is the checkout process. They're really fast and they have a self bagging counter after the transaction is complete. I love this because i hate being at walmart or albertsons and having to wait super long (15 minutes most of the time on weekends) to check out. So this new store is the best and my new go to place. I see why my coworker that moved from Chicago was so excited that Aldi was coming To CA. read more

Not sure why the reviews for Aldi are so low. I love it here. Food is super affordable and always great. Haven't had any bad experiences with it so far, but maybe I'm not picky?? I don't know. It's good to me! I can usually find what I'm looking for. Items are rarely well known brands, but they'll occasionally have a few here and there. There's also aisles with home goods and items that rotate. Sometimes there's bakeware and closet racks. Other times it's pillows and bathroom rugs. I don't think I've ever disliked a grocery store as much as I dislike Aldi's. It's a new chain of European grocery stores that made its way to America and through the San Gabriel Valley and caught my attention through its vast advertisement along Azusa Ave. First off, just to be able to get a cart, you'll have to deposit 25cents, and if by bad luck you're out of 25cents and hope to have your dollar changed, the cashiers are out of them too, so you're left with no choice but to grab stuff as you go and carry them with your hands. Second, the entire store consists of 40%American goods, 40%Mexican goods and 20%European goods, so what's the point of going in here when most of their stuff you could easily find in the local stores? Third, it's a lonely, lonely store. It sits on quite a large area of land and yet on my visit there were only 4 of us going around the store, save for the 2 other(only) employees who serves many positions in the store such as cashier, manager, janitor and all other else . If there's one good thing that I could point out about this store it's that the prices of their limited number of cheeses are much cheaper than the ones sold at Trader Joe's where I usually by my cheese. I don't think Aldi's will be a big success in America and no, it doesn't, even by an inch, get my approval. read more

Second prices suck, to be honest the wife and I do our shopping at the grocery outlet near by and for what we spent today we could have bought the same things there and saved half. This store is horrible. I happened to go just simply out of curiosity and hated it, i showed up after work and quickly realized it opens at 9 which I found odd because all the competitors open much earlier. So I left. Returned again 2nd try around . . The 25 cent chart thing threw me off had to dig for quarters in my car ended up handing out several quarters to the elderly who had no idea why they would lock their charts. When I walked in there was a young worker standing there who could obviously see the struggle some of the older people were having but did nothing. Did my shopping horrible selection feels like half the store is just random filler junk. Went to pay for the couple things I picked up one line was open guy quickly shuts off his light and tells me to go to a different lane because he was on the phone(there was no other lane open) as I overhear two workers loudly bitching about not liking another co worker. I left my basket and just walked out horrible horrible customer service. My sister also went and told me when she walked in a woman was yelling at a manager because all of the grapes had bugs on them and they were continuing to sell them. This is a german market, they are big on organic, giving back to the community and recycling. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Smart way to reduce cost of shopping carts, so they make you insert a quarter before you can pull a cart to use it. To get your quarter back, just return it!
