Better than expected place for gyros and other Mediterranean food in Eugene. It basically is a place for takeout, but outside there's a few tables. Albee's has a couple locations, including this one west of downtown. Looks pretty basic and it is. They have the classic favorite including the standard gyros, and falafel among the other pitas. A pretty quiet location compared to the stuff going on downtown. It's in more of a residential area it seems. The majority of the customers are probably in the neighborhood around this. Has the basics. It's about $7 for the Falafel Pita. Each of us got one. This comes with banana peppers, black olives, feta which I left off, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Garlic fries: yes. Gyros: maybe. Unfortunately the gyro meat was dry but I did think the fries were the perfect level of crispy and seasoned. It's just unfortunate when a gyro is a simple meal and the only star is the meat, when the meat isn't good, it lets the whole thing down. The other ingredients truly are difficult to mess up, and I will say the fresh components of this gyro were nice. It's relatively unclean inside and has flies everywhere. I hate to give it the rating I do just because the guy was so kind and clearly loves his job. We felt that love too. And the fries were great! I hope they can revamp these couple things to make sure they get a returning customer in the future. As it stands, I don't think I will be back. read more

A little hole in the wall place that offers a straight forward gyro. The type of gyro you want at 2am after the bars, the best kind. The staff was super friendly and place is clean if you car about that, and the food came out fast. The gyro meat was well seasoned and hot, much like you find at any other gyro place. Got takeout from Albees for dinner. Called it in and was told 15 minutes. I got there about 15 minutes later, and he was just finishing up my order - love when that happens. It was fresh and smelled amazing. We both got the Beef Gyro and shared an order of Empire State Fries. Both were so good. The beef was perfectly marinated, and the tzatziki was spot on. The seasoned fries were covered in garlic and feta and perfect when dipped in the cool tzatziki. The location isn't the greatest - takeout is probably the best bet. It is more of a deli style establishment than a place to dine. There is a small outdoor seating area and no real indoor seating. There is no dedicated parking, so you need to find a spot on the street. The guy working was very nice. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. read more

My son and I both ordered a gyro with all toppings (I ordered the junior size, my son the regular size). We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was! To be honest, I was a bit turned off by the way how the store front looked from the outside, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The young male employee who helped us was very friendly and helpful. What impressed me the most was that, after taking our payment, he washed his hands again before preparing the food (although he had already washed his hands when we entered the restaurant). This is absolutely the greatest Mediterranean spot I've found in Eugene and one of the greatest food spots in general down here. Came on an early Sunday afternoon and there was only man working but he was a ONE MAN SHOW. He got it done I wish I asked for his name, unfortunately I did not. I'm going to name him Angel because he is my Angel for serving me a delicious meal. Will absolutely be coming back I felt like I was back in NYC. Came here with the fam for a quick bite to eat. I opted for the hot dog , the guy working there said it's the best! Added mustard, dill relish, jalapeños, and bacon bits. Hot dog is fried with a toasted bun. What turned me off was the bacon bits.. I didn't realize these bits are NOT actually bacon. What would have made it a step above would be actual pieces of bacon. These fake bits cheapened my hot dog experience. The rest of my fam had a gyro and something called gillies, which is gyro but with cheese wiz..yes you heard me cheese wiz! Fam said it was ok. Good, solid Greek fare in the American Greek tradition. The falafel and the Greek salad were excellent. The dolmas were good, but not great (maybe more olive oil would help). The white yogurt sauce was truly authentic. They do not have tabouleh. The guy who waited on me was friendly and efficient and we had a nice conversation while he prepared my food. There was no tea option, and all the other drinks except water were more sugary than anything I would put in body. Nice outdoor seating by the sidewalk. Limited indoor seating at a high counter. Great gyro, nice salads, seriously top notch spanakopita, excellent lamb, excelkent feta, even great hot dogs, all served with a snappy, unusually polite frontman. I like everything they have, except maybe the dolmas, but I never like those grape leaf m*therfx€¥ers, not even when I lived in Athens thirty years ago. WOW!! I have been looking for a place to get spanakopeda. I have now found it *yeah* This place is a small neighborhood deli type restaurant. Only a couple seats inside on a bar facing the street or a couple tables outside. The was one person inside and what a jewel he was! Even though he was really busy with take out orders he took it like a champ. Always smiling, friendly and able to joke around as well as never stopping.
