Get a table on the deck and order the salmon - fun place and great ownership (he saved us a table)

I have to thank the yelp community for sharing their rating and reviews! I was in Jasper with two of my friends on a trip and were looking for a place to dine, after looking at what's available near the area, we decided to go to ALBA as we all felt like having some Italian food. Boy I did not regret this decision at all! This place felt like your OG restaurants in a small town, chairs and tables look very traditional and the decoration here is on the dim side and traditional as well. We all ordered our own pasta and I went with the Bolognese. Bolognese is always my go to pasta at a new Italian Restaurant because it's such an easy dish to make but a very hard dish to master. The Bolognese here was perfect! Pasta was al-dente, the beef tasted fresh and the sauce was perfectly made! The Bolognese here is as good as the ones from Terroni and Gusto 101 in Toronto! Portion was also very generous although I could eat two of them myself because of how delicious it was! If I'm ever back in Jasper here, I will come back for sure! read more

ALBA Restaurant - The perfect Bolognese!! - Italian Near Me - Jasper, Alberta

We are here our first night in jasper, and then our second night .. and we'll likely go back to make it three out of three! The food is delicious - tonight we commented that the mezze rigatoni was the closest to food we have eaten in Italy than anywhere else in the world. We've now had four of their pastas - all winners, the carrot and ginger soup - awesome, and the tuna starter - also great! The staff are attentive and personable. We spoke to the owner and they have had over 10 years of hospitality experience from the likes of the Fairmont. Amazing food - definitely try it! read more

Seriously tasty food here. Why I loved it: The wild mushroom ravioli was incredibly good. Everything my dining companions tried looked equally tasty, so we were all really happy. ALBA is fantastic for gluten free pasta lovers. They can make any of the pasta dishes (apart from the yummy wild mushroom ravioli I had) with gluten free pasta. What was less good: It seemed like almost all the servers were new, so most of them were unable to answer questions about the menu. Still, I expect Jasper has a high turnover with seasonal workers, and that didn't spoil our meal. I'd definitely come back if I fancy Italian food while in Jasper. read more

Alba is a very unassuming yet comfortable restaurant on the second floor looking out over the mountains. We had a lasagna and a mushroom ravioli. Both were plentiful and delicious. The service was top notch. Our waiter Rommel was superb. Ask for him to wait your table next time you go there. You won't be disappointed. read more

Delicious - highly recommend the rigatoni and the mushroom ravioli! The restaurant itself looks pretty old school but still has a cozy feel to it. Great for a night out in the Jasper area! read more

For our first night in Jasper, we wanted something a bit nicer and hopefully quick and easy. We picked Alba and after walking down Patricia Street, had a bit of trouble finding it. After finally getting in at 8:45 (with reservation), we sat at basic dining chairs in a very warm room. The heat was due to the fact that the doors couldn't be opened because of the forest fires and the air conditioning would suck in smoky air. Ok, I can understand that. My wife had the Il Tagliere and didn't like that they served crackers instead of bread for the assorted meat and pickle board. It said 'crackers' on the menu and I had one and it was fine. Complimentary to the dish even. I ate a mushroom ravioli and it was good. We were told the dishes were created by a friend that used to work for the owners. Actually, we spoke with the owners for quite a bit and they are off the charts friendly and humble. Nice people. So far, they're not doing too bad at the restaurant biz. You can expect some higher prices for even more basic dishes, but that goes with the location in Jasper. read more

Really great location as it is located upstairs featuring the skyline of Jasper. The pasta was flavourful, hot and fresh. I would definitely recommend and visit again! read more

As another reviewer has noted, this place offers a nice change from the tourist traps that serve so much of the food in Jasper. I liked it a lot and hope to go back someday and write an even stronger review. The food was good and the prices reasonable. We also enjoyed the friendly service. I would not have minded if something on the menu was no longer available, but I did mind a bit when several items, including a dessert gushingly recommended by the server, didn't exist that evening. Aside from that lack of menu items, the dinner was wonderful, with a nice view of the town's center - great for people watching - and an unhurried feel. We'll be back! read more

We stopped in here tonight for dinner and found it all to be very good. The kids tried the spaghetti and meatballs (kids meal) and the pasta with cheese sauce (alfredo sauce, also kids meal). I tried both of these and would be happy to eat either one. Portion size was good for a kid as well. We then had the oxtail (pasta with a nice meat sauce), gnocchi, and pasta carbonara. All three dishes were very good. The oxtail had nice long, wide noodles and a good amount of meat. Made with a brown sauce with a few mushrooms. Very tasty. The gnocchi was made with a slightly spicy pomodoro sauce. Texture was good and the taste was also nice. Needed a little salt, but otherwise nothing to complain about. Finally the carbonara had a nice presentation with an egg yolk on top that you could mix in. I personally liked this dish the best, good flavor, nice amount of meat. The three regular meals were more than we needed, but not ridiculously large portions. I can highly recommend this place if you're in Jasper and looking for some good pasta. read more

The perfect place to eat after a long day of hiking. The service was incredible. We really loved how on top of water refills they were (small gesture that went a long way). The wine was also really good. Absolutely loved the seafood spaghetti dish. Will be back! read more

Delicious food and awesome service. Really enjoyed the carbonara. Would recommend if visiting Jasper.

The foods are very delicious, and we had a great time here. There were 7 of us and they make us sit separate in 2 different table due to covid or something I don't know despite that we still had fun and enjoyed our dinner, except the Tiramisu here is not good. Please don't order Tiramisu. read more

Made a reservation over open plate. Was excellent service. Had the Italian Tagliere appetizer and it was tasty. Then we had Mezzi Rigatoni. A beef noodle dish. Was hot and tender beef. My wife had the Gnocchi. Was good just needed a touch of salt. They also gave us a dessert brownie because of our anniversary. The service was excellent attentive but not overbearing. read more

This was referred to us by a local. ALBA is a very nice Italian restaurant in downtown Jasper, Alberta, with tasty dishes, friendly service, and an upscale but casual vibe. My wife had the spicy gnocchi and I enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara. We also had the meatballs appetizer but no room for dessert. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I cannot say enough about this wonderful restaurant!!! My sister and I were looking for a place that had great food and this is it! She had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli and I had the Mezze Rigatoni. Both were outstanding. We also enjoyed great service and several visits by the owner as we dined. If I ever return to Jasper, this will be my "go to" restaurant!!! read more

ALBA Restaurant - The Wild Mushroom Ravioli with walnuts on top. Delicious!!! - Italian Near Me - Jasper, Alberta

This is an absolute gem! The food was incredible (coming from NYC, where the standard for Italian food is set pretty high), and the people running the place are wonderful - kind and very interesting! We came in to celebrate our engagement, and could not have been happier with the choice. We had the rigatoni, the lamb, carpaccio and had a delicious apple and honey amuse-bouche crostini on the house for the special occasion! They also had an impressive wine selection. This is definitely a must-visit restaurant in Jasper! read more

This is a gem in Jasper. We had the oxtail pappardelle, Tuscan arugula and prosciutto salad, duck breast, and ginger carrot soup. All were very delicious! I particularly like the oxtail and duck dishes. I'm used to the Chinese style roast duck as the standard duck dishes but this duck was quite good and satisfied my craving. We got to chat with the owner of the restaurant. He was quite the conversationalist and had great stories to share. I appreciated his openness and willing to share his local perspective of Jasper. When I come back on the future, I hope to visit this place again for the amazing food and hospitality. read more

Incredible restaurant. Staff was profoundly pleasant and helpful with menu choices. Every dish is created with care and thoughtfulness. This was the best dinner we had while in Canada (Jasper, Banff, and Canmore). You can tell they truly care about the food they are preparing and the people they prepare it for. My wife, toddler and I arrived to an empty restaurant at 5:30pm on Friday October 18-2019. The server Roman (I believe owner also) was amazing. We ordered the Gnocchi and Mushroom Ravioli. Both were perfect. Price is reasonable. He took the time to make sure everything was good multiple times, and was very personable. Upon leaving, only another three tables were seated. Surprised, because of how good everything was. 5 star, will be back when we return to Jasper. read more

Our last dinner to conclude a 10 day Canadian excursion seemed destined for mediocrity. After eating a handful of meals at the JPL that didn't to live up to expectations and failing to secure a reservation at Oka Sushi our band of hungry New Yorkers set out into the sub zero night in search of a meal to match the wonder of Jasper. The events that led us to Alba were its proximity to a parking spot on main street and cold that gnaws at your bones and forces you indoors. Hopefully by reading this review, you will have the tools at hand to select the best restaurant in town and not rely on dumb luck, throwing darts at yelp reviews. Walking into Alba feels like entering a generic 90's eatery, no design or decor hinted at the magic living inside its menu and kitchen. The space could have as easily been home to a greasy spoon or a pizza shop. Our gang quickly scanned the menu of traditional Italian fare that read like grandmas greatest hits. Primi, secondi, a sampling of house-made pasta and carne provided a choice for any diner. We settled on three apps and three entrées and poured our liter of wine with anticipation. As soon as our friendly waiter (brother of the owner) delivered our apps we knew we'd made the right choice to end our Canadian journey. The meatballs (3) bathed in sauce and cheese rivaled any homemade variety. Calamari was light and breaded with a particularly tasty batter, but the star of the dish was a pepperoncini aioli that I'd purchase by the jar. Rounding out our first volley of dishes was a half order of arancini that was good at best but forgettable at worst. If our first course did anything it heightened the anticipation for the arrival of our main courses. As any savvy diner should, our revelers opted for small plates and shared each entree. The Salmon was excellent, a pristine piece of sockeye seasoned and cooked to perfection on a bed of arugula with crispy vegetables and another out of this world sauce. Delicate gnocchi were bathed in a pink sauce with peas and was an exceptional version of a dish that can easily go wrong. But the true star of the night was the house Carbonara, a mountain of creamy pasta and pancetta topped with an egg yolk that perfectly exemplified #FoodPorn. In a true testament to the chef and the excellence of their cuisine, our group couldn't be stopped quite yet. Despite being quite full, we rounded out our night with a Tiramisu. The classic desert was served with a twist, in a martini glass and avoided all the pitfalls that can destroy the sweet staple. In summary dear travelers, Alba is not only worth your time but could hold its own in a restaurant scene much bigger than humble Jasper. As one of our diners said, if you combined Alba's food with nearby Sunhouse cafes decor you could create a food powerhouse in Brooklyn. read more

Lovely people and superb Italian food. I had the herb crusted sockeye salmon and it was absolutely delicious ! The flavouring of the salmon mixed perfectly with the house made sauce and veggies that came with the dish. I also had the housemade tiramisu, oh my goodness was it just wonderful! It was not like the traditional tiramisu as this one was filled into a giant martini glass but still just the right amount and balance of creaminess , sweetness, and kick (from the espresso) They are located on the 2nd floor of the plaza. A bit difficult to find but the view within the restaurant was stunning. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Jasper ! read more

Went here with some friends on the weekend and were seated right away. I had the pappardelle with duck confit and it was awesome. Really filling, high quality pasta and the flavour rich and satisfying. My friends also absolutely loved their meals, they had the Duck and I honestly forget what the third person ordered because I was so focused on my food. We had dinner at Alba this evening and loved our experience. We didn't have reservations but they were able to seat us for dinner. We had a table outdoors and it was nice. Even though it started to rain, the cover was good and we didn't feel any drops. We ordered the Gnocchi Parmigiana, Pappardelle with Duck Confit, Mezzi Rigatoni, and Oxtail. It was a pasta kind of day! We all enjoyed our food which was flavorful and good size portions. If you are looking for Italian food, I highly recommend Alba! read more

My friends and I travelled around Jasper from San Diego and had our dinner at ALBA. I ordered oxtail and my friends had something duck (sorry I forgot the name). They all taste delicious and presented very well. Even we are so full after the main dish already, we can not say no to their tiramisu which is delicious too. Kiran is very friendly and professional. While we asked questions he gave good suggestions about the local place to visit. Overall, it's such a good place to have dinner after hiking/traveling. The average price per dish is about $25~35 which is reasonable and affordable comparing to some places in Jasper. Will come back if passing by later. read more

Came during the slow period before Christmas for dinner on a last minute recommendation from a local and was not disappointed. The menu is interesting and because we had a group I was able to try many of the dishes. Duck breast was FANTASTIC, cannot overstate this. To me it is a must order and was cooked to perfection. Really classic combination with orange, but is a top dish in my books. Calamari was light and the squid not overdone. Wild mushroom ravioli was rich and skillfully prepared. Oxtail pappardelle had wonderfully cooked pasta with a luscious meaty sauce. Eventhough they say the carbonara comes with a twist, it really stuck to its roots and was simply done as it should be, and delicious. Duck leg confit pappardelle was delicate and excellent. Braised short rib, again meaty, thick, and the sauce just all great to mix around with the potatoes and devour. For dessert we all split a tiramisu and it was light and just a great finish to the excellent meals we all had. Service was gracious and attentive. You can feel the effort the young owners have put into this place and their past experiences are skillfully used in this restaurant. read more

We chose this restaurant due to the reviews and it was worth it. The atmosphere doesn't communicate the good experience you will have. The meal was delicious with unique flavors. One of us had the gnocchi with chicken and they loved it. They shared that the sauce was great. I had the salmon and it was quite good. The carrot ginger soup is divine! I didn't expect to find that on an Italian menu, but I am thrilled I did! The other guest had the meatball appetizer and shared that it was good. And they loved their Caesar salad. read more

Nice clean upstairs restaurant with a view of Jasper outside. The carbonara and rigatoni are both really good and decent sized portions. The carbonara comes with a raw egg yolk which I've never seen before but mixed with the pasta complements the flavor. Waiters are very friendly and attentive too. Overall if you're craving Italian food (there aren't that many options in jasper) come here! read more

We went there based on the good rating, but unfortunately we had our worst dinner ever. The ambiente in the restaurant is very cold, the staff seemed to be uncoordinated. For the starter they missed a soup for one of us (three). We had the ginger carrot soup and the buffalo mozzarella. On the mozzarella it needs to be mentioned that it tasted like normal mozzarella - you probably get better buffalo mozzarella in every supermarket. After the starter we got asked if we want the desert menu, even we did not have our desert. We friendly denied an asked for the main course first. As main course we had the gnocchi, the bolognese and the salmon. The bolognese was spicy, the gnocchi were tasteless and the portion small. The salmon was done too long, the broccoli cold and the potatoes lukewarm. During the dinner we got asked 4 times by various people how it was (facepalm). Wenn we got asked the fifth time by the cook, we told the truth about the Salmon and they excused and stated thy will reduce the bill, which they did - they took one dollar off (facepalm) This place is definitely no value for money. If you have the chance, please go somewhere else. read more

Loving our time in Jasper, and were really hungry for Italian food so selected ALBA based on reviews. Unfortunately, we had just an average experience with both food and service. The salmon was most disappointing, as both parties that ordered it said it was overcooked and dry. The two pasta dishes, duck confit and ravioli, were just ok.....not worthy of raves. Outside seating was nice. read more

I hear that Jasper is surrounded by Majestic Mountain but we can't see them because of the burning forest fire smoke still we decided to sit outside on the balcony overlooking the Main Street and pretend. I would not give this restaurant four stars in Providence Rhode Island, however, in the Sleepy Mountain tourist town of Jasper I think the whole experience warrants four stars. I had the carrot ginger soup which didn't taste like carrots or Ginger but was still good. Then I had the summer salad which was slightly overdressed but excellent poached pears. If you order it just ask for a lightly dressed salad. My husband had the gnocchi, which were adequate and a side of broccoli which was very plain but a welcomed vegetable in a sea of tourist burger and fries. The service was excellent including the little boy who poured our water and helped with our service. read more

Out on a family trip in Jasper we walked around town and came across this gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing tasting. We were served lightly toasted bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip while waiting for our order. I couldn't get a picture due to my children devouring the entire basket in seconds. I had the surf and turf, my husband had the sockeye salmon, my oldest had mushroom ravioli, my little kids had chicken fingers with fries and spaghetti with tomato sauce. Everyone ate all of their food. The reason for the 4 instead of 5 was because they forgot to order one of my kids meals and when we got our bill it had another tables desert charges on it. (which they corrected once I pointed it out) We didnt get a discount for the hassle, also I didn't ask for one. A little pricey for 3 adults and 3 kids $132.00 not including tip. read more
