I accompanied my mom to Alaskan fireplace to look for brick or stone to replace the ceramic tile she had on the front of her current fireplace. She had a fireplace mantle made and explained to our salesman what she wanted and showed him photos of the mantle. He said that will never work. My mom told him again what she wanted and described what she had and he told her again that won't work. He even asked her if he needed to speak slower so she could understand!! She then went to Burlington fireplace where they understood and they were able to assist her and her fireplace turned out spectacular. We had called several fireplace companies to come out and give us a quote to have a gas insert installed. The 1st company that came out really didn't provide any information and showed us any photos of what we be getting, gave me a quote and left. Then we had Alaskan Fireplace come out, Ken, came with everything he needed to show us what we'd be getting, explained to us all the details, left us with a quote. He was fantastic! We decided to go with Alaskan Fireplace based on Ken's quote and his recommendations. We went to their store in person to see what we'd be getting for our money and we ended up doing an upgrade. I purchased a gas fireplace insert here which promptly stopped working as soon as the warranty ended. I called Alaskan for service and they said it was a 3 week wait. I waited because they are the only option around. When they finally arrived the serviceman spent 10 minutes installing a small part and left saying I would be billed. The bill arrived and I was shocked to see it was for almost $200.00. When I complained the woman said it was their standard charge and I had been advised of it when I called to schedule the service. I was never told any prices and certainly did not expect such a high cost. In my opinion it is shoddy business and if their is anyone else doing this kind of repair I would suggest calling them for a quote before I would call Alaskan again. read more

While looking for a company to replace our existing fireplace, which was unusable, I referred to social media for peoples recommendations. I had several say Alaskan, but it was the text from a close friend who saw my post that prompted me to make the call to Ken at Alaskan Fireplace. He came out to our house and brought cardboard cutouts of several different fireplaces so we could get a visual. He gave us a quote and invited us to come to the store to really get a look at different options. We went later that day and again Ken walked us through how to use the different units and the different options we had for the aesthetics. We made a choice and set up an install. The install went extremely smooth. The two man crew worked quickly to get the job done. They laid down drop cloths on the carpet and cleaned everything up at completion. They walked me through how to operate the unit before they left and showed me how to remove front panel to clean. Asked for them to come out and give me an estimate for an insert into my current fireplace. They did not show. I called and they did end up coming to the house a couple days later. They showed me a couple options but they would have to give me an estimate and would call me. I agreed. I never heard from them again. I guess they don't like money or customers. read more

I bought a home in July that had a wood burning fireplace. During the inspection we learned the Chimney may have some problems. After closing we had a chimney company come out and found the chimney had a fire about 20 years ago and not repaired correctly. We initially took a ride out to Alaskan Fireplace to see about an electric fireplace. We learned that we could convert the fireplace to gas without rebuilding the chimney. A couple weeks later Ken came out to the house to inspect the fireplace and offer suggestions. He had some great thoughts and we immediately followed him out to the store to visually inspect the recommendation. We loved it. A few weeks later his team was out to install our new gas insert. They did a great job, cut some brick out, and ran the gas line. The fireplace was cleaner than before they began. We are extremely happy with the results. read more

I took a chance and used Alaskan Fireplace for a problem I was having with the cord gasket or the way the door was sitting on my wood stove. Yes, folks, the hourly charge for labor is $165, so be prepared. They did inform me of the charge prior to service. Another nearby company wanted $200, and that was just for the service call, nothing else. I spoke with Ken who helped me trouble shoot the problem I was having, and eventually sent one of his technicians out. It turned out the seal was just fine. It was worth the peace of mind, as my kids sleep downstairs when we have fires burning during the winter. Ken was absolutely professional, and his technician, Craig, uses wood heat in his own home and has alot of experience in the field. I will use Alaskan again, and my next wood stove will also be from Alaskan. They have regained my trust and respect!! read more

Apparently the fireplace insert business is recession proof. I tried to get a fireplace insert installed and got the brush off for 45 days. After leaving calls and messages I drove there and the place is a mess, They don't have my quote, the "showroom" is torn up and the guy was extremely rude. He criticized me for driving 15 miles to see a "showroom" without calling first. Hey I am from California! We drive 15 miles. We like seeing the product before we invest $6,000.
