Would not recommend this company. They did not check their work before leaving so the ductwork that would allow the AC to be able to run was not able to run. They first came and put it in on Friday and then I noticed it on Saturday so I called. I called and they said they couldn't come Monday @3:30pm once I would be home so they came on Friday today at 1pm. The receptionist said at 11:50am that her dad would be here in 45 minutes. Her dad didnt show up, the two techs that put it in came at 12:51pm. They were here for 3 minutes. I paid over $4500 for the AC unit and this is the service they give? I had to go another week without AC and they didn't come out for the 3 minutes it took at any point this week at 3:30 after I got home from work? Not the type of service you would want at all in general especially when it is a service that costs so much and in this heat. read more

Of course our air conditioning quit working on the hottest day of the year yesterday. We called them this morning and they came out to help in less than a few hours! Lee was great, fixed the air conditioner in no time flat! I thought the bill was reasonable too. Great service and that's what matters to us. read more

Don't waste your hard earned money. I've hade these people out here twice and my a/c is still not fixed. They are scammers. They charge you $500 bucks each time and don't fix a thing. Sure they will chare up your a/c only to leak out again and deplet the ozone witch is against Federal law. Buyer Beware. read more

I initially called the Union Grove number for a service call. They said it would be $85 for the service all and $30 every 15 minutes after that. I had researched other companies prior to calling my local Sqare One and they all included the diagnosis in the service call fee. Apparently Square One charged me the $85 just to drive 3 blocks to my house. They were here about 15 minutes, told me that I was out of freon, that I must have a leak, and that it would cost about $650 in freon plus the time it takes to check fo r the leak and fill it. He estimated it would cost me about $2000 or more to refill, add dye, and perform leak search. Also suggested purchasing a new unit. I called a second company who came out about an hour later that same day. They said I was only about a 1lb low on freon, there wasn't a leak, just something that needed tightened, the filter surrounding the unit was completely clogged because it hadn't been cleaned in 20 years. I didn't know I had to clean it, my bad there. The second company cleaned it, added freon, tightened someting up, charged me $300 and left. That was about a month ago. My air conditioner has never worked better. Square One didn't even check the filter. I feel like they were just padding the bill and hoping to get extra money from me for extra freon I didn't need and service work that I found out wasn't even necessary. Maybe they hoped to sell me a new unit.... I don't know. But I'm out $152, I feel they did absoltuly nothing and they are scamming customers who don't know better. read more

Chris from Square One has come out a few times over the past couple months to preform the different services. He is always friendly, considerate and very patient to work with. "Buyer Beware" My Honeywell whole house humidifier was constantly dripping water, in spite of the act that the humidistat was turned "Off"! There is only one active part in the humidifier and that is the solenoid, which controls water flow, either on or off. Since the solenoid hadn't stopped the flow, it needed to be replaced. There was a "Square One" sticker on the furnace so I assumed they were the vendor of choice and called for service. Upon completion of the replacement, I was given an invoice that listed "Service Call Diagnosis" - $75.00. (Somewhat a standard practice and reasonable). Listed next was the repair labor, thirty minutes @ $100.00 per hour, $50.00. (Also somewhat reasonable). Lastly listed was the solenoid, part number 32001639 - 002, $300.26, NOT so reasonable! While the person I spoke with couldn't reconsider the charges, she said she would speak with the owners on my behalf. Thus far, no one has called me to discuss my issue. It appears the "bottom line" is no customer consideration and no regard for customer satisfaction. Square One knows that I'm far from satisfied and that I'll never call them for any other service needs whatsoever. From my perspective, this is a case of pure price gouging! read more

Definitely 5 stars! Customer service and communication throughout the whole process! Came home from vacation to our house and the AC was OFF! It was Saturday! 92 degrees in our house! I called and actually got to speak with someone, not an answering service. I had a tech at our house in about an hour. Niko was very professional and respectful! Very clean cut and knowledgeable! He walked me through every thing he was doing which put my mind at ease! He was done in about 30 minutes and the house was starting to cool down. Square One installed the HVAC when my home was built in 2018. Twice the furnace timed out. The zoning never worked as one end of the house is 3-4 degrees different than the other. I was constantly smelling gas and they came in and said there was none leaking. I secured an annual service agreement with Master Services in Lake Geneva and lo and behold, there was an open valve on the furnace leaking gas -- it was a valve Square One replaced as being faulty and to why the furnace was timing out; it wasn't even the right valve for my furnace. Upon fixing that and an annual cleaning and inspection we found that installation was so shoddy that ducts are blocked with all kinds of debris. I had to have the valve replaced, and ducts professionally cleaned and sanitized. It has cost me now $1800 to "fix" the awful situation and installation Square One created -- but we are not done with the fix yet.. we are having to have to have ducts re-directed so that there is more consistent temperature control. Again, more $$ to spend that shouldn't be if it was done right the first, second and third time in new construction and in less than one year after installation by Square One. I would not recommend them, at all. read more

Great service they replace both our ac and furnace. I had a cold room in the winter that never heated - Square one guys figure out bad installation they corrected and I have better heat for the 1st in my family room. Then this year, 2 years from installation I call them with no ac, they came out and found problem that was not their installation and took care of it for us under our warranty. We own a home in Lake Geneva and have a 2,500 Sq. Ft finished basement that is 8 feet below grade. Since we owned the home we always had issues with high humidity in the basement. From Spring thru Fall the humidity would reach high 50's and air would have a stale musty smell. I was continually running a portable dehumidifier day and night and constantly having to empty the water into the sink. Even with that, it never go to a comfortable level and the smell never went away. I researched my problem on the internet and got dozens of fixes that ranged from a few hundred dollars to several thousands of dollars. This June, I was referred by another HVAC firm that didn't cover Lake Geneva to call Square One and ask for the owner Steve. He called back within 15 minutes. After describing my situation he came out to the house the next day. He recommended a whole house dehumidifier. He meticulously walked me thru the steps of installation and the benefits of the system and how this would solve my problem. I mentioned all of the fixes that were on the internet and he said I would be spending unnecessary dollars. He gave me a quote that was very reasonable and we booked a date the following week for installation. His technicians, who go thru a very difficult to obtain certification and training - showed right on time. They prepped the area with clean tarps and explained every step of their installation and explained the operations of the unit. Within a day the humidity in the entire house dropped to the low 40's. The stale musty smell completely disappeared, the carpets have a spring to it and my problem has been solved. Also, the owner answers all calls personally after hours. I highly recommend Square One. This place is great. I had my furnace go out at the beginning of winter and I was new to the area so I didn't know who to call. I got a recommendation for these guys after a couple really expensive alternatives and they really were great. I ended up getting a better unit then any other business quoted me for the same price as a cheaper one. They also filed my rebates for me which is one less thing that I had to do. When they came and installed the unit the guys were great. Really polite and quick. I am an engineer so of course I had to ask questions and watch the entire time just because I didn't really know much about furnaces. They were great and answered any questions that I had. The tear out of the old and instal of the new was in less then 3 hours. I was blown away. My new Bryant unit is the cats meow and I love the new controller that they installed. When I need a new A/C unit I will make sure and go back to them. read more

Our heat went out on a freezing cold day. I belong to a community page on Facebook and asked for recommendations and several people recommended Square. We called and they came out later in the day. Chris was our technician and was very fast, efficient, and friendly. He educated my husband on the problem and answered several questions that we had. The price was very fair (far less than I expected and was quite frankly terrified of). And to take the honesty and trustworthiness to another level....he told us of another part that was on it's way out....but told us that we still had time on it and didn't need to get that fixed now. To me...that's priceless. I completely trust Square One to give me an honest assessment, fair pricing, and to not take advantage of people in desperate need of service. Square One Heating and Cooling is by far the best HVAC business I have worked with since I have owned my house. I chose them to install a central air unit for me after I had gotten quote from 4 companies. Their prices are reasonable (against even non-major brand carriers), their service was quick, and the same person (Steve) that came to give me the quote, showed up at installation time. Steve was very thorough when explaining my options, and even made sure I understood what work was going to be done and why. I felt like there was no pressure for extras, but was left with some additional literature to browse. The installation was quick, and they made sure that there was nothing I had to deal with after they were gone (Yay for disposal!).
