The speed of service and the friendliness of the staff is a five star review. Manny the repairman…read morewas very nice and his communication with us was great. The reason of the two star is the job that was done. I was expecting Midwest Heat & Cooling to replace my GE AC wire. The wire was completely cut in half by my puppy, thus the reason of hiring them. I paid over $200 just for them to tape the wires together. My AC unit still does not work and now I have an electrical hazard that I now have to deal with. 10/10 Friendliness 0/10 Reliability I do not recommend.

Our heat went out and the first technician said we had a bad sensor and it needed to be replaced. He did not have the part on the truck, so he cleaned the old sensor and our heat worked. (The contractor we called for second opinion said it would be fine to run on the old sensor after it was cleaned and felt part replacement was excessive.) The Midwest tech also gave us multiple quotes for things that were not broken. Included was a quote to replace our two working thermostats for over $1,400 because they sometime draw more power when not wired properly...although he said ours were wired properly. He spent a significant amount of time at our home, apparently writing up the additional quotes that were not needed. A different technician came to install the part we were told we needed a few days later. He also spent quite a bit time at our home.... writing up some more quotes for things that were not really broken. These items were different than what the first tech recommended. Then our heat went out again a couple days later. Technician number 3 came and spent a lot of time at our house and told us we need to replace the whole control panel (Although, he was able to power the system on and off to get it to work). He also said the inducer motor bearings were making a grinding noise and needed to be replaced. Keep in mind neither of the first two technicians noticed a bad panel or the bad motor bearings. He also said that they are required to write up at least 3 quotes for each customer. Yes, we are trusting souls, but 3 strikes and you're out. We called another heating company. As mentioned above, they said they would have cleaned the sensor for us and would have been done. They also could not find anything else wrong with the system at this time. They suggested that we just call them when it happens so they can find any real problem. It saddens me that a company like Midwest appears to be training and encouraging these young men that work for them to find things that are not broken and scare customers into ordering that repair. It appears that they are teaching them to cheat, lie, exaggerate, whatever it takes to make more money. Definitely not a reputation I would want...I pray that Midwest develops some more honest and customer focused processes. If they did that maybe they would get my business.

Shane Peck came to our home today and checked out the air conditioner for the coming season…read more Everything was O. K. and he was very helpful, turning on the outside water for the season, something I cannot do these days. We were charged $101.66 for the service which was fine with us. We have had Shane as our service person a few times now, so we had a good visit again. Ron F.

Thielmann: I'll try to give a brief background. The furnace (unit also has AC component) in my…read morecondo was having white smoke/steam come out of the external vent during some of the extremely cold weather we were having. Even though my furnace was not making any unusual noises, smells, or setting off my carbon monoxide detector, I was still concerned as no other condos in my building or nearby buildings were having the smoke/steam. The employee that initially inspected by furnace (Carlos?) informed me that the heat exchange was clogged and would require me to repair the furnace or purchase a whole new unit (I opted for a whole new unit based on its age). Carlos gave me the impression there was no rush and that it was not something that necessarily needed to be done immediately. When the second employee (Dave?) came later that day to take measurements and verify the replacement unit needed, he made it seem almost emergent and began to wonder aloud if he needed to shut my furnace off that day. The stark contrast between the two was alarming and created a bit of a trust issue on who to believe. Carlos seemed a little green and Dave seemed like more of a veteran. Dave eventually determined it did not need to be shut off as no carbon monoxide was entering my condo. The whole experience did create a bit of a panic for me though, so I quickly accepted the only available appointment within the following two weeks. It was convenient that they could get it replaced just five days later, but if it truly wasn't an emergency then I would have liked a little more time to verify I was getting the best price as it wasn't cheap (to give you an idea this is the largest purchase I've ever made behind my home, education, and car). They do offer payment plans that were easy to enroll in, one of which has 0% interest if paid off within a year. I'm not trying to throw anyone under the bus, but I can tell they really want an honest review as I've received multiple texts and emails asking to leave one. The crew that showed up on the morning of 12/24 to install the new unit were quick and efficient. They were respectful of my property and explained the new thermostat to me. All the employees were friendly, including the ones running the office over the phone (Micah?).
