The speed of service and the friendliness of the staff is a five star review. Manny the repairman was very nice and his communication with us was great. The reason of the two star is the job that was done. I was expecting Midwest Heat & Cooling to replace my GE AC wire. The wire was completely cut in half by my puppy, thus the reason of hiring them. I paid over $200 just for them to tape the wires together. My AC unit still does not work and now I have an electrical hazard that I now have to deal with. 10/10 Friendliness 0/10 Reliability I do not recommend. read more

**BUYER BEWARE** The 3 different technicians that came to our home were all very pleasant and polite. Our heat went out and the first technician said we had a bad sensor and it needed to be replaced. He did not have the part on the truck, so he cleaned the old sensor and our heat worked. (The contractor we called for second opinion said it would be fine to run on the old sensor after it was cleaned and felt part replacement was excessive.) The Midwest tech also gave us multiple quotes for things that were not broken. Included was a quote to replace our two working thermostats for over $1,400 because they sometime draw more power when not wired properly...although he said ours were wired properly. He spent a significant amount of time at our home, apparently writing up the additional quotes that were not needed. A different technician came to install the part we were told we needed a few days later. He also spent quite a bit time at our home.... writing up some more quotes for things that were not really broken. These items were different than what the first tech recommended. Then our heat went out again a couple days later. Technician number 3 came and spent a lot of time at our house and told us we need to replace the whole control panel (Although, he was able to power the system on and off to get it to work). He also said the inducer motor bearings were making a grinding noise and needed to be replaced. Keep in mind neither of the first two technicians noticed a bad panel or the bad motor bearings. He also said that they are required to write up at least 3 quotes for each customer. Yes, we are trusting souls, but 3 strikes and you're out. We called another heating company. As mentioned above, they said they would have cleaned the sensor for us and would have been done. They also could not find anything else wrong with the system at this time. They suggested that we just call them when it happens so they can find any real problem. It saddens me that a company like Midwest appears to be training and encouraging these young men that work for them to find things that are not broken and scare customers into ordering that repair. It appears that they are teaching them to cheat, lie, exaggerate, whatever it takes to make more money. Definitely not a reputation I would want...I pray that Midwest develops some more honest and customer focused processes. If they did that maybe they would get my business. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Midwest has been out to my house four times for the same HVAC issue, and it's still not fixed -- even after I've already spent $1,200. The first tech came out, "fixed" something that wasn't actually broken, and told me my dryer vent needed cleaning -- then admitted he didn't even know where the vent exited the house. He thought it was on the roof (it's not), and clearly had no idea what he was doing. The second person came to clean the dryer vent, but didn't even notice that the vent was disconnected behind the wall by about a foot. That could've been a major safety issue. The third tech, Carlos, was the only competent one I've seen. He actually found the real problem -- a vent issue hidden in the wall -- and explained it clearly. Then a fourth person came out to fix the vent and told me that if the condensation issue continued, to call back. I did exactly that today, and now I'm being told the next available appointment is 30 days out. I could hear him typing for several minutes messaging someone and he told me that he was entering information when he wasn't even asking me details. Every other time, they've had someone here within a day or two -- but suddenly now, no urgency, no follow-up, no accountability. I asked for a manager to call me back, and I'm still waiting. After four visits, wasted time, and over a thousand dollars, my issue is still not resolved. Their technicians clearly don't know what they are doing except Carlos and the management does not care to follow up. Just quick to take your money. I will never use Midwest again and I would strongly recommend others look elsewhere. read more

Young tech tried to tell me furnace was not safe to run. Told me it needed heat exchanger repair. I told him i was going to get 2nd opinion but send me an estimate. Estimate had nothing to do with this repair. I had another company come out. Tech cleaned sensor up and gave my furnace a clean bill of health. Tech from Midwest tried to scare me with carbon monoxide issues. The 2nd company tech assured me that if there were any CM issues to arrise the unit would shut down. Dont appreciate scare tactics and trying to take advantage of older customers. Wouldnt use or recomend this company! read more

He took the time after it was running to explain what had happened and ensured me the issue was fixed. And the total cost was very reasonable, especially for being after 8pm at night. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a service window from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm but was not notified when the technician ran over two hours late, and received only a brief apology citing high call volumes. When the technician, "Carlos," finally arrived, he claimed my unit's motor was beyond repair and that replacement parts might be unavailable, despite my clear request to repair the existing unit. I was told I'd receive a follow-up call on June 30, 2025 and documentation of what I signed, neither of which materialized. Although I was promised the $136 service fee would be waived if I proceeded with a repair through Midwest, I was nonetheless charged, and the only follow-up I received was a text offering a new-unit quote. A second technician from another company repaired the unit quickly and at minimal cost, confirming Midwest's assessment was inaccurate. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! read more

Technician came out a hour and a half later than scheduled. The whole encounter felt like a scam. He asked what I thought might be the problem. I stated I think it might need some gas added, as it doesn't get as cold as it usually did. He preceeded to tell me that it was illegal for him to add gas. The unit Functions normally otherwise. Kicks on and off without issue. He quoted me a price of $550 to add gas. The same gas that he told me was illegal for him to do. I told him that wasn't going to happen as the person that scheduled the appointment quoted me far less that that. He said ok, but would have to charge me for him coming out. $129.00. I told him that I wasn't giving him shit, and that he could get off my property. Seems like a very dishonest company. I wasted a day waiting for this scamming company to try and take add of me. Sighed up for AC tune up - After 2 hours they gave me a laundry list of thing that could be done to make the 13 year old AC unit as good as it could be - Came to $2K - The techs were very young which is fine but they had very poor communications skills and didn't understood why no one would put $2K into a AC unit which was near end of life and would only cost $3-$4k at most to replace new. When I asked if they understood what a new unit cost they told me the company didn't share with them the pricing of new units - I explained to them it probably would be worth there time to understand the value proposition they are being asked to sell so they can put themselves in a positon to win - pretty sure they didn't care or understand that concept. They were very polite so no problem w them personally - More a reflection of the company which is poor. The other thing I was really pissed off abiut is that the blower setting for the AC according to them wasn't set right and because all the tests they ran were run on the incorrect setting the results of the tests they ran: - proper Coolant level - No Leaks etc - really were not valid because they would all be affected by the blower setting - a manual switch that would take 2 seconds to set corectetly. The then quoted me $200 to do that. That 100% should have been part of the service and they should have done it first before wasting everyone's time. They then informed me that that likely was the reason the house didn't get as cool as fast as it should. They then said if they did that and found a leak it would be $200 min for collant - fair - and $800 to.do an EPA check to see where it was coming from. At that point I'm like forget it I am calling Burkardt who has prople who are going to run the test the right way first. read more

They were called to install a new WiFi thermostat, and to evaluate our AC because it wasn't cooling down the house. They gave me a time frame of 8-12 pm, and didn't show up until 12:45. My whole morning was wasted waiting from them. When he got there, he fiddled with the thermostat. Told me I don't have a c wire and therefore can not install it. (I already told them that) Did not offer option to use g wire as c wire. Next he evaluated the AC system. He said the freon was low which means there is a leak. Did a leak test and found the condenser coil outside had a leak. Told me the entire AC system needs to be replaced. Quoted me a price range of $5000 to $8000. Told him I need time to think about it. Pushed me to schedule an install but I refused. I asked if the condenser coil could be replaced. He said no. That was false. He took the AC apart outside and the furnace apart in the basement and did not put them back together. Everything was left open. He was there for less than 3 hours and I was charged $540. A few days ago, I had the condenser coil replaced and a digital WiFi thermostat installed for $1200. I'm told the unit should last another 8-10 years. My problems with them: -not on time -extremely expensive -my technician was clearly a novice - not provided with options, and instead le to believe that I had to drop 5 to 8 thousand for a whole new system Thanks read more

Tenant had AC go out and called to schedule a service visit, and they said they could come out Sunday, but didn't tell her it was an extra $350. They came, spent half an hour fixing it, and charged her $750 she had to pay on the spot. Total scam artists. read more

I will start out by saying that I had a scheduled appointment for a tune up on my air conditioning Unit. My first appointment was rescheduled because the service tech had a family emergency. I fully understood due to the circumstances. The appointment was rescheduled for today with a service timeframe between 8:00 am and 12:00 My choices were between 8:00 to 12:00 or between 1:00 and 5:00, I choose a appointment sometime between 8:00 and 12:00 and at 1:00 I called the company to inquire about my appointment and was told that my appointment was scheduled for the afternoon. At the time the appointment was rescheduled I was asked if I would like to be the first appointment in the morning and I said that was not necessary but I would like to be on the morning schedule. I was told that time would be fine. My disappointment is not with the technician because he was polite, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything. I would certainly give him 5 stars, Midwest Heating however I would rate 2 stars because they arrived late. I really believe that they were aware of my original scheduled time but moved my appointment without notifying me. This is a case where Midwest Heating over promise's and under deliver's. read more

Very dissapointed in their so called "safety protocols." I tried this company because my regular HVAC company was booked for the rest of the weekend and it's so hot! I work in the medical profession and am very very cautious about sanitization protocols with the Covid epidemic. The lady on the phone assured me up and down that they followed the CDC guidelines. Well...the guy showed up with no mask, no sanitizer and regard for germs whatsoever. If you do decide to give this company a shot, I'd recommend waiting until after the epidemic has subsided. read more
