If I could make this review less than a zero, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. The service I received from this business is less than desirable. I made an appointment to find out why my fireplace wasn't working properly. The charge would be $200 for someone to look at and recommend what the problem was. It was a 5 week wait for this appointment. The technician came early the day of the appointment and said he could not figure out what the problem was, that he would need another person to come and look at my fireplace ( a different appointment). Did I know what the charges would be for coming back - The $200 charge was apparently for only 30 minutes and, thereafter, would be $40 per every 15 minutes ($160 per hour per person) meaning two people would be approximately $320 per hour and the technician's estimate of repair would be about 6 hours to try and figure out why my fireplace was not working. I told him that that he didn't need to stay if he couldn't figure it out. He felt I told him to "get out immediately", which I did not. I was told his boss would call me and discuss the following appointment which his boss "Dan" did not call. When I decided to call, Dan said he had no reason to talk to me and that he was just going to hang up as he had nothing to say to me. He hung up as he said would. For the very short time, I talked with Dan, this was probably one of the rudest and most arrogant service people that I have ever spoken with. The whole time the technician was trying to figure out the fireplace problem, he would continually take pictures and send them to Dan and ask "what should I do?". He had no idea. This is probably one of the worse, if not the worse, customer service encounters that I have ever had. The very worse!!!! Before Dan hung up, his comment was - it doesn't matter if you write a review. We have so many good reviews, your review won't matter. Be careful of this business and get prices before you decide to get any repairs done by this business. read more

We hadn't had our fireplace serviced in a LONG time (5+ yrs) and we started having issues with it lighting. Luke took it apart and cleaned it so well it looks new. He also explained what was wrong, why we started to have issues and how to fix it. He had the part in his truck and it was fixed before he left. He added a few other touches that adds to the ambiance. He also gave a very thorough consultation on a new fireplace we would like for an upcoming improvement project. This company installed a fan in our fireplace last February. This fall we turned it on and it was unbelievably loud. We call Burlington and asked if they could come and see what is wrong with the fan. They would gladly come out with a $195 service charge and the fan only had a 30 day warranty. Unbelievable!! Our experience with this company was a total joke. Asked for a limestone mantel to match the existing hearth. Salesman understood our wants. When the install was completed not realizing at the time the two stones don't match. I called the business and the owners son answered the phone and when I told him the stone slab doesn't match he told me there was no such thing as white limestone. Thanks to Mike, Joe and Luke for doing such a great job upgrading our two wood fireplaces to a gas log insert and a full gas insert. It wasn't an easy task because the fireplace was old and had some funky mechanics done to it over the years. Burlington from start to finish was fantastic. They do all of the work needed to install so I didn't have to call other services to come in and set up gas lines or electric, etc. And, the units are beautiful. While I felt that Rich Sr was pleasant, he was a bit brisk and unknowledgeable about the specifics of my particular fireplace. He basically handed me some brochures, took a picture of my space, and left. The follow up after my appointment was excellent and I spent several months emailing back and forth with Rich, Jr to hash out design details and answer all my questions because of Covid. Fast forward to install day. My installers Tim and Matt were on time, professional, and courteous both install days. Tim was very thorough and knowledgeable while answering my numerous questions, and made sure that I understood his answers. He was also very helpful in giving tips so that I could put brick tile up myself semi professionally! There was a miscommunication between the company about scheduling my inspection and Tim made sure it still happened on time to get the job done. He's a great installer, customer advocate, and general fireplace extraordinaire! Matt, while a man of few words, took care of all the behind the scenes work that made the install efficient above and below the fireplace. I'm loving my fireplace so far, and waiting for those cold winter night's to use it. read more

We needed a chimney chase top replaced, so I measured the old chase top, and we went to their store in Burlington where they gave us an estimate of $1300 for stainless steel, which is not bad. We were told they'll send somebody to take official measurement which will be returned if we go with them. They charged us $157 which was fine since we'll get it back. Few days later we received non-detailed quote for $1680. We didn't want to lose $157, so we went with them. Installer did a good job and gave me a bill for $1680 plus some minor repair. When asked why $157 wasn't deducted, his manager told him it was. I didn't want to argue with him so I paid it. Nowhere on that non-itemized bill did it say that this $1300 job would cost $1850, which is $500 more than estimate. I would never do any business with them and would never recommend them to anybody. They had Google remove my review. Didn't like bad review. Bad business practice. Stay away from them, or ask for detailed quote. My whole quote was $1600 + tax. read more

Our expeirence with Burlington Fireplace was less than favorable. We had them install a wood burning insert which seemed to go well but after they came to inspect and clean it we had problems with smoke pouring into the house from the vents. I complained about it and was told that shouldn't happen. Fast forward a year and we called another company to come and inspect the burner. We were quite surprised to find out it was never installed properly and that was where the problem was. We tried to get in touch with them only to be ignored and no one ever did call back. read more

I needed a part for my fireplace, Burlington gave me a price and I budgeted for what they said, they ordered the part came out to my house and it was the wrong part. They took the part back then called me later with a new price that was more than what I budget for. They installed the fireplace to begin with so they knew exactly what I had. I am unable to get the fireplace fixed right now because of their mistake that if they would have told me initially the cost I could have budgeted for it. Burlington fireplace and heating replace our furnace for us. Scheduling was super easy. Someone came out to the house at our convenience and give us a free quote. We discussed details and cost. Set an appointment for install. They arrived promptly on the install day. They got everything done in a day. After they left, I went into the basement to inspect their work. I was pissed. They placed the furnace in The spot the old furnace used to be in. This left a walkway that was too small to even walk through. I could not take a clothes basket (the long way) and fit through the opening to get to the washer and dryer. I called them immediately. I told them I was not very happy that they put the furnace in the middle of my walkway and I couldn't access the washer and dryer. They sent another team out the next day to move the furnace back so we could actually walk past it and get to washer/dryer. We were not charged extra because it was their fault. I did not understand why they didn't double check with one of us before blocking the walkway. Common sense would tell someone not to block a walkway. We did get an upgraded air filter system for free for the hassle. Overall, good customer service and decent work. read more

Ok, so if you need a simple fire place install this could be your place although if you need a custom fire place don't expect experience or professionalism. The representative quote a price including a wood mantle that was to be $900.00 We decided to remove that piece and expected the quote to be decreased $900.00 When we received the document estimate the total of items was $900.00 more than the sum. When I called I was told that the initial quote that they gave my husband did not include labor. Wow!! So it looks to us that he tried to pull a bate and switch. Then software was not used for the drawing and the hand written drawing which I would have loved to attach, did not include all measurements. It looked like someone in grade school drew it. When I tried to talk to the representative in a very kind and rational manner he wasn't able to grasp having a single granite mantel with brackets. The brackets were what through him. When I told him I had concerns not only with the pricing surprises but also with not feeling we would be presented with a sufficient visual of what we were purchasing, he said he would call me back. A few minutes later we received an email stating we were not a good fit for them. When calling to speak to the owner who we met and loved when we were in the store a few weeks ago, he would not come to the phone. They said he wasn't there. After talking to the general manager for a while and insisting on talking to the owner, he stated that the owner was the one who wrote the email. So obviously they lied when they said he wasn't there. I asked him if he thought our concerns were valid and he said, well some of them. At that point i just said Wow! I then hung up. Not a YELP person, and not inclined to complain, but after our recent experience with this company, I feel compelled to at least let others know the facts of what occurred so they can judge for themselves whether they would like to do business here or not. A couple weeks ago I called and spoke to a Therese (who I later learned is an owner) about setting up an appt. to have someone come out to measure our FP for glass doors. My husband and I both work, so I asked if they did weekend or evening appointments. She assured me they could do an evening but not a weekend appt. We were anxious to get doors ordered asap so wanted the first available appt. It happened to be on a night when I was going to be out of town, but my husband would be home to handle the appt. I let her know this, and she made a big point in saying she wouldn't send anyone out unless both decision makers (both me and my husband) could be present. I understood--we didn't want to waste anyone's time--and both my husband and I would want to have input as to what they would be quoting us, so it made sense. Their next available appt. was a week later and I told her we could both be home for it and we set the appt. time for 7pm. So now at this point, we are having to wait about 2 weeks for someone to even come out, but I understand, because everyone is busy and it's partly due to our own busy work schedules. So now the day of our appointment arrived (last Thursday, 10/23) and I called Therese that morning just to confirm that we were "still on" for 7pm that night and she confirmed "yes" and said only that their guy would call us if he happened to be running late (note: she did not say running early, just running late). In any event, she had my cell phone number, and she knew that I do not get home until right about 7pm. However, not wanting to miss any of the appt, I did leave work a little early just so I could be sure to make it home before 7pm (I got home at 6:30). My husband did the same, and actually was home by 5pm. Now, you have to understand, I take a train part of the way home, then have to drive the rest of way. Apparently while I was driving home, at 6:10pm and 6:20pm, Rich (who I have since learned is owner and Therese's husband) called and left messages on my cell phone saying he was in our area and wanted to know if we were home, that he was to swing by our place that evening. When I got home and was able to use my cell phone (note: it is still 20 minutes before our scheduled appt. at 7pm), I saw he had called, retrieved his messages and called him back. I was literally floored by what he said. He said that he WAS in our area at the time he called, but since I didn't respond, he left the area and that there was nothing he could do about it now, and to just call the store back and make an appt that was MUTUALLY CONVENIENT FOR ALL OF US!! I am thinking to myself at this point.....I thought I HAD!! We had an appt. set for 7pm and it was still 20 minutes to 7pm!! I told him I had left work early to make it there in time, and that my husband had been home for some time, so why didn't he just come on over to the house early if he was really "in the area" as he stated? It was pretty clear he either had no idea Therese had set our appt. for 7pm OR he just simply didn't care, was running early, and wanted to get back. I love most how he ended the call. While I'm still standing there in awe, not knowing exactly what to say after he said he was not coming, he then said, "there's nothing I can do about it now, Good Bye" and just hung up. It wasn't like I was cursing at him or anything....I was just trying to get an understanding of why he was just blowing off our appointment! Again, I'm thinking to myself, if no one answers the phone at 6:10 or 6:20 (which I couldn't, I was driving home to make it to the appt!!) why don't you swing by the house at least and check there, or go to McDonalds for a cup of coffee until our scheduled appt. time of 7pm? Maybe it sounds like I'm blowing this out of proportion, but I just feel like we did all we could to conform to their requirements of having us both be there at a "mutually agreed upon time", when it's not easy to schedule an appt. in the first place, and then it's as if we never even had an appt. scheduled! I think I'de have actually felt better if he'de have called and said he was ill and had to go home early or something like that I'de have understood. But I still don't understand .....just not very good customer service if you ask me. But you be the judge.... read more
