I had such a great fun time today (9/18/2025) in the Cosmetic Dept at the Hourglass (HG) brand…read morecounter. It was nice to be invited to come in for a beauty makeover by Demitri. I had never had this done before and I'm glad he encouraged me to experience this. Their international beauty rep was there along with a very nice makeup artist named Nikki. They gave me so many beauty tips and also explained in detail how to use the HG line cosmetics the right way. The cosmetics look natural and feel great on my skin! They are animal, vegan, mostly all natural, free of all the harsh chemicals and made in Italy! They were debuting their collector palette books too which I found all of them to have beautiful color ensembles. I purchased the Deer. Everyone in this department are very helpful but kudos to all the Hourglass line people within Nordstrom for making a fun and interesting time! The international rep (I'm sorry I can't remember her name) was really knowledgeable. Nikki was amazing and made my makeup look the best it's been in a very long time. Best thing was that Nordstrom had a sale on cosmetics so I was able to get 15% off of these name brand plus I was given an awesome gift with purchase!!

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Nordstrom has done a complete 180. What…read moreused to be a special experience is now rotted by egotistical associates. I stopped in on Saturday 4/25/26 for an exchange. We had to search for an associate, to start off. Some were behind the counter on their phones, chit chatting with each other, or hiding behind racks. I felt like I was in a sea of employees with none to be found- strangest experience. I unfortunately found a counter with a lady named Cathy behind it. Cathy falls in top five worst shopping experiences I've ever had. She immediately profiled me, it was actually disturbing. Without letting me say a word about my exchange, she went on and on about why is it her problem and she's a "rule follower". She wouldn't even take the time to pull up my personal book or my mother in laws, who gifted them to my husband. Also, keep in mind, there are no "rules" when it comes to Nordstroms return policy. She was strictly there to give me a hard time and make me feel like I was doing something wrong. Things only went downhill from there when she called her MIC. A male named Eric I believe? African American with a beard. He came down with a quickness and never made eye contact with me once. The two of them together couldn't make one good manager. I found him to be cowardly and an example of the company's poor onboarding & training. It's not too late to invest in a leadership program, let me know if you're interested. My three items were like-new and only tried on. My husband has a bad habit of washing all his clothes before he wears them. He did exactly that in September 2025 to realize the pants fit him poorly on the legs. Since when is that a crime or not allowed? I've posted the return policy directly from their website with my review. It's clear that Cathy and her MIC were only trying to give me, and likely many other customers, a hard time and not service. So much for playing by the rules.

In the Portillo's Experience Pop Up, they sold a small amount of merchandise and chocolate cakes. The real reason to go, though, is for the photo ops! They have an onion ring swing (that really swings), a French Fry room with a box of fries to pose with and three smaller room featuring fun photo ops (including being the hotdog in an oversized bun). There's also a few scratch and sniff posters, which for me, didn't work well, but worked fine for the others I was with. The crew manning the pop up were great. Our 'host' was super enthusiastic about the whole thing. The only disappointing thing was that the merch for sale was very limited. I was hoping to buy a gift for my out of town uncle who misses Chicago staples like this, but left empty handed, because of the limited amount of items for sale. Because this wasn't a 'new' thing and it was early in the morning, there was no wait for any of these photo ops nor was the store crowded. If you're heading out to Woodfield Mall, definitely give this a looksie! It's located by the mall entrance between JCP and Nordstrom and will be open until 1/1/2020.
