Appetizer was tasty but the frisée that accompanied the cakes was not washed. Caesar salad was overly dressed, too much Parmesan. Both appetizers were over-salted. Service was very slow. The price was over $200 for a disappointing dinner. No value. read more

Our first time in we sat at the chef's counter. Very fun evening; the chef and his assistants were very friendly explaining all the options. The ability to see the precision in every dish get before it goes to the table is always interesting. The food was inventive with familiar themes, everything had a twist. The freeze dried honey was an amazing addition. The service was impressive and Dylan did a great job; always nearby without hovering. His knowledge of the dishes and recommendation on number of small plates, pasta and mains were spot on. Definitely will be back for another run around the menu. read more

Bustling scene when we arrived on a Saturday night! Not too pretentious or fancy. Food was really solid and unique! Appreciate the kind and attentive service. Hop cakes light and airy. Edamame hummus delicious. Mocktail margarita with great flavor! Gnocchi was super light. Only downside is the place is pretty overpriced for Cincinnati. Would recommend knocking off some $ (reason why a star was deducted)! read more

Great service and food was excellent. Chilean Sea Bass was amazing. The decor was modern and felt like intimate space with group even though open design. I was not a huge fan of Creamsicle dessert. May try something else when return. read more

What an incredible dining experience. Complimentary valet parking is available. Reservations preferred and was able to get seated rather quickly upon arrival. Staff was courteous and very knowledgeable about the offerings. The food was unique. It's always good to try something different and the preparation of all of the food was magnificent. I enjoyed my food tremendously. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a nice modern style. read more

Went with a small group on a Tuesday. The restaurant wasn't super busy. We were excited to try the new place in town. Since everything on the menu is encouraged to share that is just what we did. Ordered a number of things to split. They pace out the servings throughout your meal. Service was quite slow considering it wasn't too crowded. It took awhile for our table to get their drinks as well as through dinner. Everything we had was super tasty! I would definitely go back and try even more of the menu items. Definitely a great spot for date night or with a small group so you can try a number of things off the menu. read more

Excellent evening with good food, seating at the chef's table and friendly servers. Too many items to try for our first visit, but we found some great options. Chefs shared the names of each dish that came out and presentation made me want you to try more that I could possibly eat or drink. read more

The space is absolutely beautiful and airy. It felt elegant without being stuffy at all. . The service was on point and fun for our group of oddballs . Service was wonderful and the food was perfect! The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. All good!

They have some of the best steak I've ever had in my life. It was so buttery smooth that we were able to cut through with our butter knives. The lobster gnocchi was fantastic too, and the dessert- simple, classy yet not too sweet. Everything was excellent, from the ambiance to the service and the food. Well done! read more

The food absolutely out of this world... The service is great... I have told them on multiple multiple times that the draperies take them down so much in ambience...get rid of them..not necessary read more

Service was excellent, ambience nice, contemporary, warehouse high ceilings, huge bar with approximately 30 bar stools. We went on a Sunday, so not crowded or loud. Food okay. Caesar salad delicious, but too much dressing. My sea bass ( 58$) ( large portion) was overcooked, and too chewy, not the tender flaky sea bass I expected. Husband's beef tip pasta okay. The chocolate dessert was heavenly. Probably won't be back. With the least expensive bottle of wine( Santa Margharita) bill with tip was 215$. read more

The food is designed to share so it is cut up and cooked in pieces.. The entrees were cut into three or four pieces. This caused some items to get overcooked. The room seemed very crowded. It was very uncomfortable. The parking was also bad. No steps down towards the building. I do not expect to have dinner there again.. read more

Alara is our favorite restaurant in Cincinnati hands down. The ambiance, food, and service (shout out to Chandler who is always spectacular), never disappoint. Really wish they'd bring back the chilled seafood platter - it was their best dish by far and the experience isn't the same without it. read more

I had the smoke edamame hummus, king crab sliders and pork shank tacos with the creamsicle cloud for desert. All were excellent! Large portions that left me more than full. Alexis did a great job getting the drinks and timing the food to come out perfectly while serving us. I wish I could give them a 3.5, I think that's more accurate. We had a group of 4 people and did the plate sharing option. First off, the decor is very nice. Our server knew the menu very well and made good suggestions. She was great. Our table was pretty big so plenty of room to share plates. We started with the Korean hot dogs and hop cakes. The dogs were fantastic. They came with some sort of wasabi sauce. The hop cakes were good but tiny. Next was the beef tenderloin pappardelle. The pasta was clearly homemade and really good. The sauce was great, but the beef was chewy. Next was the pork shank tacos, sea bass, lobster gnocchi, Brussels sprouts, and potato wedges. The pork wasn't as tender as I hoped. It was hard to pull off the shank. The salsa and tortillas were good not great. The sea bass was really good but small. The Brussels were a little dry. The gnocchi was excellent. Very rich sauce and soft pillowy bites, these and the hot dogs were the best things we ate. The potato wedges were good but not memorable. The first course came out fast but the second and third were really slow. We did get dessert and coffee as a 4th course. The meal took 3 hours, which felt slow. Cocktails were again good not great and I think over priced. read more

Just had an AMAZING dinner at Alara. We love all Looking Glass restaurants and Alara was fantastic- they were really great with all of my food allergies, ensured everything was gluten free, and our server (Dylan) and all of the other staff were AWESOME. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend! Ask for Dylan if you have food allergies- he makes eating out safe and enjoyable! read more

My new favorite place! They were so focused on creating a great experience and accommodating my multiple food allergies. They repeatedly went out of their way to verify that a dish was allergy free AND tasty. Excellent food, phenomenal service, fantastic ambiance. I can't recommend them enough read more

Excellent service at the bar with a couple of tasty old fashions. Super nice bartender. The waitstaff were all wonderfully welcoming. The food was very good. Everyone in our party of four agreed. One in our group has a severe gluten allergy, and when we mentioned it, the manager stopped by to personally assure us of their commitment to food safety, etc. How refreshing it is to find a restaurant that takes this seriously! And their selection of gluten-free options was really impressive. Alara is a really neat place, with good food at fair prices. I'll be back! read more

20/10 recommend! Service was fantastic, our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Very cool classy vibe without being stuffy. We had 4 of us, we shared the lobster carbonara as a first coarse, had the waygu sampler and the chicken Milanese with some sides as our main, and literally every single thing was amazing! If you have food allergies or sensitivities this is definitely the place for you. 2 of us were gluten free, one GF/DF and there are so many delicious options, basically everything on the menu. They are so careful, you can confidently eat here without having to worry about cross contamination. This is one we will definitely be revising soon! Thanks for a great experience! read more

Decor and feel were great. Good service. Crowded for a Tuesday and easy to talk, lively but not loud. I'll have to stop in for some drinks at their beautiful bar. Nice view of the kitchen from many seats. Got the seafood platter. Excellent! aguachile was amazing and the scallop crudo and everything else on the platter was great. We ordered the salmon, scallops, vege bolognese, and glazed carrots which were all delicious. For dessert ordered the purple cloud something, not usually my thing, but tasted and looked fantastic. Definitely going back! read more

No complaints at all here. We came here because we've enjoyed both Clyborne's and Toast and Berry, owned and operated by the same group. Really very enjoyable across the board. Made reservation for Chef's table for my husband's birthday. Don't do it ! Very small table for 2 in awkward arrangement. They were nice enough to move us on a Thursday night. Ambience is nice and not stuffy. Ordered salad with blue cheese on the side. Salad comes with blue cheese on it !! My husband hates it. Sent it back !! They remade but didn't bring tongs so we tried to make do dishing out with our 2 forks !! Finally asked for tongs ! I ordered sea bass and it was delicious! Husband ordered chicken Milanese which was 4 cutlets! Big portion. Also had the potato wedges which turned out to be pretty good. We ordered 2 desserts which came with 2 happy birthday designs! Complimentary nice . I put them aside thinking I'd use them next week for my niece. Before I could stop them someone walked by and swooped them away ! When I asked can I get one back I saw the waitress talking to manager ? Guess it was a big deal over that small piece of plastic! Next time I guess I'll just buy at the dollar store. I ordered decaf coffee with cream and sugar ! Guess what no cream ! Not a big deal she brought it but could have saved herself some steps and made me realize she doesn't listen. Asked for to go bag for my husband's chicken. They never brought it even after I finished my coffee!! We left ! Expensive dinner like the Precinct but don't expect service like the Precinct. read more

My husband and I had dinner at Alara to celebrate our 51st anniversary. I am gluten sensitive and that is why I chose this restaurant. All we can say is WOW! I had a lot of choices when it came to the food and each dish was delicious. I was able to enjoy dishes I would not have chosen at most other restaurants due to my wheat sensitivity. The ambience was that of a very nice supper club and everyone was so friendly and the location was very easy to get to. I highly recommend Alara for the food the ambience and the employees! It was the perfect restaurant to celebrate our nite read more

It was delicious and a great addition to the Cincinnati food scene. I love the shareable dishes, however, if you're just going with one other person, it can be difficult to find something to share, and then the meal becomes very expensive. I'm excited to return with my girlfriends and give other dishes a try. The cocktail was delicious! I forget which I got, but it was the smoky one with a very cool presentation. Also a bit pricey but unique and very yummy. read more
