The ability to see the precision in every dish get before it goes to the table is always interesting. The food was inventive with familiar themes, everything had a twist. Went with a small group on a Tuesday. The restaurant wasn't super busy. We were excited to try the new place in town. Since everything on the menu is encouraged to share that is just what we did. Ordered a number of things to split. They pace out the servings throughout your meal. Service was quite slow considering it wasn't too crowded. It took awhile for our table to get their drinks as well as through dinner. Everything we had was super tasty! I would definitely go back and try even more of the menu items. I wish I could give them a 3.5, I think that's more accurate. We had a group of 4 people and did the plate sharing option. First off, the decor is very nice. Our server knew the menu very well and made good suggestions. She was great. Our table was pretty big so plenty of room to share plates. We started with the Korean hot dogs and hop cakes. The dogs were fantastic. They came with some sort of wasabi sauce. The hop cakes were good but tiny. Next was the beef tenderloin pappardelle. The pasta was clearly homemade and really good. The sauce was great, but the beef was chewy. Next was the pork shank tacos, sea bass, lobster gnocchi, Brussels sprouts, and potato wedges. The pork wasn't as tender as I hoped. It was hard to pull off the shank. The salsa and tortillas were good not great. The sea bass was really good but small. The Brussels were a little dry. The gnocchi was excellent. Very rich sauce and soft pillowy bites, these and the hot dogs were the best things we ate. The potato wedges were good but not memorable. The first course came out fast but the second and third were really slow. We did get dessert and coffee as a 4th course. The meal took 3 hours, which felt slow. If you have food allergies or sensitivities this is definitely the place for you. 2 of us were gluten free, one GF/DF and there are so many delicious options, basically everything on the menu. My husband and I had dinner at Alara to celebrate our 51st anniversary. I am gluten sensitive and that is why I chose this restaurant. All we can say is WOW! I had a lot of choices when it came to the food and each dish was delicious. I was able to enjoy dishes I would not have chosen at most other restaurants due to my wheat sensitivity.
