A definite place of interest to check out if you're in the area. We finally stopped in to take a visit after we heard about the collard greens flavor. I got Greek! today and it was absolutely delicious and seasoned so well! Merchandise was cute, got a sticker to add to the collection. Industrial vibes for sure and want to stop back in for some hops. We did a pick up order and it was ready as soon as we stepped in.

Wonderful peanuts, boiled and roasted. They've added a bar so you can enjoy adult beverages and snack on nuts. Unique idea for a peanut production company.

First time trying this place, and I was really impressed with the customer service. The staff was very helpful, and I purchased a half-pound of both the regular and Cajun-flavored peanuts. I especially enjoyed the Cajun flavor. The place was really clean too. I honestly expected to walk into a floor covered with peanut shells like at places such as Texas Roadhouse or Logan's Roadhouse, but it was the complete opposite.

If your looking for a place to hangout before having dinner downtown, I highly recommend Alabama Peanut. For those of you who have not been in awhile they now have a bar, and close around 6 or 7. We happened to stop in the night of one of the college playoff games. It was fun sitting at the bar having a beer and eating peanuts while we watched the game. We ordered the regular salted peanuts and mixed in the dark roasted unsalted peanuts. It was the perfect combination. The night we went the bartender made a koozie out of a peanut bag. It was a super cute idea, and added to the fun ambiance of the place.

So I'm not exactly sure how I came across this place. However I was intrigued enough to plan a trip from Atlanta just to visit. Boy I'm glad I did. First I was impressed just on the fact someone could start a thriving business just on selling peanuts and beer. Plus I love boiled peanuts. By the time I got there I had pretty much studied there rotating menu. I chose 2 flavors. I let the bar tender choose the third. I chose garlic buffalo, mama's baked beans and the bar tender chose Collard greens. I'm not really much of a beer drinker. However I told the bar tender my recently discovered love of sour beer. They had a great selection. After we discussed a few things. She recommended one called lemon bars. I took a seat and soon my peanuts and beer arrived. My peanut selections turned out to be great. I liked them all, with mama's baked beans with a slight edge. However I would order any of the others again. The beer I chose was amazing. I swear it was almost like I was drinking a sour drink, not just a beer. I've joined their FB page so I can keep up with their daily offerings. There are other flavors of boiled peanuts I wanna come back and try. For those traveling by train or bus. This place is just a short walk from the station if you just so happen to have a layover. The place is obviously very good because during my visit, there was alot of customers. I look forward to returning.

I can't say enough good things about Alabama Peanut! This place was buzzing during my recent visit. Boiled peanuts, roasted peanuts, cold beers and bottled drinks. What's not to love! I love the hardworking staff. They always take care of me whenever I visit. I highly recommend coming here again and again!

I had never had boiled peanuts before, but I really enjoyed them. The Alabama Cajun were very salty, but the old bay and PBR were delicious! I would recommend getting the flight with two boiled peanut flavors and one roasted peanut for a sweet/salty combo. The tall PBR was only $3 which is a plus. Ambiance is vintage and cute. Service was quick.

We came to town from Austin determined to find good boiled peanuts when we found the Alabama Peanut Company. The beautiful historical setting made the vibe perfect, a place you want to stay and hang out! The brine sample station, let you sample the flavors before ordering your peanut flight! The attention to detail is something to see and the friendliness of the staff is worth the visit! The next time we are in Birmingham, we will definitely visit this place again! Well done!

Hadn't been here in a while and last time it was during the day. Love there peanuts. Not a boiled fan but a roasted fan. We arrived at a little before 6 pm. They close at 7pm. There was space at the bar so that is where we sat and ordered a beer and 2 pounds of roasted nuts one regular salted and one plain dark roast. We mixed them up for a variety. Our beers came and were served in a unique fashion that reminded me of the old Alabama liquor laws. They were served in a brown paper bag. They also placed a roasted peanut under the pop top. Cute. They had a wide variety of craft and local beers. Unfortunately the preponderance was IPA's which I don't care for. But they had 2 porters the Vanillaphant from Avondale brewing and the PBP from Back Forty. The PBP is a peanut butter porter so I selected that to go with the peanuts. The peanuts that they have available change quite frequently. They only had 4 roasted flavours to choose from on our visit. Plain dark roast plain regular roast, Cajun roast and salted regular roast. I dont care for it too salty so I generally mix the unsalted with the salted. Over the bar they have tv so you can watch a game etc as you enjoy your nuts. The place is really cool the building is old and probably hasn't changed in forever so the ambiance is unique. The bartender was great. He was helpful and friendly. We had a great time. Only wish it was open longer.

The Alabama Peanut Company shop is located in a historic building in downtown Birmingham. They have been producing the snack since 1907 and it is pretty neat to see the old peanut roasting machine. The customer service from start to finish at the bar was excellent! They had a large selection of roasted and boiled peanuts that range from classic to various seasonings. The cajun roasted was probably my favorite. They also have a large canned beer selection.

What an awesome experience at a historic old peanut factory. The building is located in downtown Birmingham and was founded in 1907! My family wanted boiled peanuts and we drove for a few hours just so we could get experience boiled peanuts and roasted peanuts. Everything was excellent - the service was friendly and quite accommodating. The prices are very reasonable and this is a great place to hang out and grab a drink if you want to enjoy one while you eat some peanuts. The store also has some great merchandise for sale. Check them out online or in person downtown Birmingham. The building and area of downtown Birmingham are historic and include cobblestone streets out front. The historic facade of the building is an architectural stunner if you enjoy period building from the early 1900s. Inside, a stunning iron spiral staircase can be viewed, alongside the antique steaming vats and boilers which help create the delicious aromas and tasty peanut products for which this place is known!

Back in the day this was just a tiny hole in the wall called Peanut Depot. You'd go in and get a bag of peanuts and leave and that was it. It was cool because it was simple, easy, and you could get freshly roasted peanuts for pretty cheap. What a niche! Over time things can change, and it can be tricky when things change about long standing, niche spots that you may or may not remember from your childhood. The new owners nailed it with the changes they made to the old Peanut Depot. Everything that was there before is still there. The old vintage (cast iron?) roasters from back in the day, the quick and easy service, the good prices, the spicy Cajun roasted peanuts...all still there. Outstanding. And...on top of those things the new additions to the space have turned this into something that's actually much cooler with a whole new vibe. For one, they have a new name, The Alabama Peanut Company. They've added boiled peanuts in a variety of flavors, including some rare local flavor collabs with other businesses. They've added a bar with some seating and a good number of beverage options. They've got some branded merch for all who yearn to express their devotion to the peanut. The whole place has become much more than just a spot to pick up a bag of peanuts and I, for one, think that's awesome. If you're in the area you should definitely stop in and check out the space and take home some freshly roasted, (or boiled) goodness. You'll be glad you did.

I see my friends coming here all the time and was finally able to try it this past weekend! I came with my friend Victoria. They have a bar here too, but I didn't drink. I like that it's a place you can just go to with friends and hang out and not have to drink or order a full on meal if you aren't super hungry. I ordered a snack size portion of the dill flavored boiled peanuts. They were delicious! I can't wait to come back and try other flavors they have to offer! Service was great too with both workers checking on us pretty frequently!

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

Phenomenal dining experience!!…read more Service was top notch from the hostess and host, our waiter and all of the runners. Attentive without being obnoxious, in depth explanations of items on the menu with great recommendations! We started with a half dozen raw oysters and the pork belly. The fennel and orange mixture was a unique blend that really complemented the smokiness of the pork belly, Our steaks were melt in your mouth good. Cooked perfectly! I wished I could've just taken a massive bowl of the macaroni and cheese home. The char on the broccolini balanced the richness of the macaroni. The pacing just felt off compared to past visits. Valet (which I understand isn't directly run by the restaurant) was also a bit slow -- about a 15 minute wait to get our car at the end of the night.
