Wahoo with Strawberry and Olive Oil
    Alex P.

There aren't too many places in the world that can be called "genuinely impressive", but Bayonet simply cannot be placed into any other category. It was opened by a husband and wife couple, Chef Rob McDaniel and his wife Emily in 2025. As a James Beard Award nominated chef, there was good reason to expect a great meal even before the dinner. The presentation, creativity and focus on seasonality are standout features of Bayonet. Very bold dishes like the chive and caviar egg sandwich prove that the chef does not hesitate to go extreme. The Strawberry Wahoo was no less impressive, both in presentation and the genuinely unique combination. Staff are highly professional, bartenders Bradley and Miles are top notch pros of the industry. All of that is before acknowledging the beautiful interior in which Bayonet is situated. Thus, ending two words, just book!

    Branzino and double with cheese

Food first, thoughts after... Fresh seafood with good sized menu that is not overwhelming. Delicious food. The cold dishes came out pretty fast. I can see myself spending a long time here. Service was amazing. Our waitress was so knowledgable and she made some good recommendations. The restaurant was high ceiling and spacious. Maybe about 10-11 tables and bar area. Good use of space. A great time!

This is such a cool venue and concept. The peach colored chair were so comfy and aesthetically pleasing. The oyster selection is unlike anything I've ever seen. The service was impeccable, shout out to MC. My only hang up is the gin forward cocktails. It's just not for me. I had a garden conspiracy, while the first couple sips were good, the end of the cocktail was super herb and floral forward. If you don't like gin, stick to whatever liquor you do prefer.

Sat at the bar and started with two cocktails--a refreshing gin and tonic with pineapple and yuzu and a warming bourbon with fig and spiced honey. Both were delicious and well balanced. Everyone serving at the bar was friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu suggestions. We had a few rounds of perfectly chilled oysters, smoked mussels with mustard, hamachi, tuna, Ora king salmon -- all of which I wanted every last drop of, I could've licked the plates! We had to try the egg sandos everyone raved about, but honestly I could've passed. Yes, it was good but not good enough for me to justify the price. We took home a coconut pie because we were too full and I was so happy we did. It was insanely delicious -- the sweet custard and the crumble of the crust was just a party in my mouth. I will absolutely come back if I'm in the area again.

    Menu and a tiny tini

We had a very good meal overall and would definitely come back. The highlight of the night was the oysters--they were absolutely phenomenal. I ordered a variety of New England and local oysters, and every single one was fresh and delicious. The service was very good overall, but there was one hiccup. We ordered one of the bluefin tuna dishes and were accidentally served a different one. Ironically, we really enjoyed what they brought us, so we didn't realize the mistake until the next day while looking over the menu again. Looking back, we probably should have caught it when the check came, but at a Michelin-recommended restaurant, I also don't expect to be served the wrong dish. The bread service was fine. The fries were seasoned perfectly, and the aioli was excellent. The grouper roulade was another standout, the sauce was incredibly flavorful and really made the dish. The panko red snapper was very fresh, but it was a little bland for my taste. We were celebrating a birthday, and the restaurant surprised us with a delicious little ice cream sandwich cake, which was a really thoughtful touch and a great way to end the meal. Despite the mix-up with the tuna, everything else was enjoyable, the ingredients were clearly high quality, and we'd happily return.

So my friends wanted to try this restaurant and this is my first time, ambience is amazingly beautiful! Touch of class , I ordered RED SNAPPER Beurre Blanc, Mussel Vinagrett SWEET POTATOES, ROE XO, HORSERADISH DRESSING, MUSHROOMS SKEWERS, TARE, LABNEH, SUNCHOKES, I love the crunch of the snapper, but the sweet potatoes roe is so salty and was replaced by mushroom skewers which is good, , we tried all the desserts, I was just so surprised by how small the portions of the dishes, I left still hungry and that is me. The server is very nice and very attentive. Maybe it's not for me, now this is my own opinion.

    Happy Hour!! Two Buck Shuck

My bestie LOVES raw oysters but I prefer mine like my hashbrowns - smothered and covered lol... but being the supportive best friend- I tagged along and this ended up being a tasty & fun bestie date!! Here are my takeaways: 1) We went for happy hour (3-5pm) on a Saturday and it wasn't that bad to find street parking. Also, I love when a restaurant offer happy hour on the weekends!! We wanna be happy on the weekends also! 2) the hostess were inviting and friendly upon entrance 3) the space wasn't that big but I love how it felt intimate & relaxing. They had table seating, cocktail bar seating and the oyster bar. We had in the best seat.. the oyster bar! 4) Holly , our waitress, was nice and explained the menu & gave great suggestions. Also, behind the oyster bar, "New York" (that's what I called him since he was from there) was like an oyster king and knew all about oysters!! I love meeting people who love what they do!! 5) My mini dirty tini was the perfect amount of dirty & so good. Yes I had 2 bc it was so tasty! 6) I tried the two buck shuck since I'm not that familiar with raw oysters but they were really good!! I even ordered a different oyster to try and let's just say... I might be a raw oyster girly now! 7) We enjoyed the fish sandwich. It was something light & not heavy . I'm a French fry girly & the fries were so good!! I wanted to ask for a refill on them lol I will definitely be back again!!

Raw Bar view of a massive Opah Fish

Outstanding experience! , Hostess saved our entire night, was incredibly friendly, and found the perfect solution by seating us at the raw bar. It ended up being the best seats in the house--we even got to watch the chef break down a massive opah fish. Our server, Barry, was excellent and took great care of us. Large variety of fresh oysters were fantastic, the shrimp toast appetizer was outstanding, and the snapper was absolutely delicious. Great food, exceptional service, and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend!

My review merely confirms that everyone's deep appreciation of the Double with Cheese is warranted. It's an excellently unique tuna burger worth going back for. Sat at the bar as well tended to as diner. Oh, everything was good, too...

Oyster, shrimp cocktail, wine, dirty martini

Great happy hour options. White wine and Tiny dirty gin martini were good! My shrimp cocktail was just alright. There was still some shrimp innards left in one of mine that I had to remove myself. Oysters were fresh and good. Service friendly. Cute oyster decor.

    Cheeseburger

Bayonet is the kind of place that completely surprises. We sat at the bar on a busy night, and even though it was packed, the hostess made room for us. The food? Unreal. Everything is fish-based--even the cheeseburger is made with tuna. But here's the crazy part... it didn't taste "fishy" at all, just like a light, juicy, perfectly cooked cheeseburger. Freaking amazing. The mussels were fresh and tender, the fish dip had this smoky flavor, and the oysters were perfect. If I had to nitpick, the lighting was a little bright... but regardless it's a fun lively vibe and definitely worth going. Overall: killer food, stellar drinks, amazing bartenders and don't miss the tuna cheeseburger.

My overall experience was a generous 4. Our reservation was for a party of 5 on at 6p on a Saturday in 8/2025. A few arrived early and were seated in the waiting area with drink menus. We were ntroduced to Mona, our server. She was wonderful and both cocktails were delicious. The other guests arrived and we were seated shortly after 6. We met our new server. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great oyster recommendations. We learned quickly that crackers and cocktails sauce are by request. Everything tasted and smelled Fresh. Two friends ordered cooked meals which came out pretty quickly. They were completely finished by the time the other 3 of us got our The Situations. Situation is a pretty massive meal to eat across from people with cleared plates already. Never-the-less, our situations were excellent. While waiting for the dessert menus, we were having a table discussions about the desserts we'd seen online. I came for the full experience. Instead, our bill was placed with a, "whenever you're ready." The waiter seemed surprised when I asked about dessert .. It was awkward. He did bring a menu ... It felt rushed, I passed on ordering dessert for this reason. Timing went well with the exception of eating our meals at separate times. So the rush didn't seem warranted. Break down: 2 cocktails, 3 oysters appetizers and the situation. $115 (pre-tip). The valet gentleman was kind and quick!

As you enter this restaurant, you feel calm. The room's wide windows and beautiful decor create a fantastic vibe. We went for happy hour, which is a great deal - but get there early, it ends at 5. The shrimp toast was savory, umami, and crunchy. The fish dip with house made potato chips was delicious. The oysters were large, smooth, and sweet-briny - really fantastic and I could see them being shucked in the open kitchen. The smoked mussels are tiny gems of flavor - I wish they came by the dozen. And don't miss the pull-apart bread, which is like the best Parker House roll you ever had, served with a savory, intense melted butter. Also, our waiter was funny and helpful and had a passion for the food. I loved my time at Bayonet!

What was really nice however was that you couldn't tell the food was from a food truck. It was great quality and you are able to order from inside the bar and they deliver it to you. That was a great service. I can't quite remember which cocktail I got, but it was very delicious and at one point the server had even given me a new chilled glass so my drink would remain cold as I sipped on it. This is definitely a great date night spot or just a place to grab a drink with friends, definitely a little more upscale as we were there in the evening, so the lights were dim. I won't drop my rating as it's spring time in the South but I remember being cold immediately as I walked in- but that's typical for a lot of places.

The menu rotates seasonally, which makes it easier to try new things. My favorite menu item so far has been the cheeseball that was on the menu around Christmas time. It had a great flavor served with crackers the only thing is when we came back after the first of the year it wasn't on the menu anymore. On my most recent visit I had the queso which also had great flavor, served with blue corn tortilla chips. When it comes to the drinks I like how on the menu they let you know how strong it is using toucans. Many of the drinks feature rum, but they do still offer some gin and tequila options. Everything I've had has been good and something I would try again. I would like to note that many of the drinks are fruity and can be somewhat sweet. At Christmas time they even had holiday themed drinkware which I felt was a nice touch. If you are not a drinker, they also have options for mocktails. Which has been great for me the last couple of months. I didn't care for the Phony Negroni, but I think Negroni itself might be an acquired taste

The menu varies so don't expect this menu when you go. The smash burger is dependable and good.
