Gyro plate, substitute fries (fries not shown)

AL Quick Stop is a staple for us. It's mostly geared towards takeout, but that's ok with me. Some items I really enjoy here are: 1. Gyro sandwich or gyro plate - meat is cooked well, always very flavorful. The gyro pita is soft, a must try. 2. Falafel - if you're looking for a break from meat, this is a formidable option. Crispy goodness. 3. Seasoned fries - seasoning is like crack, it'll keep you coming back for more. 4. Hummus - smooth, creamy texture 5. Tabouli - good tangy salad option They also have good family pack options that are great for entertaining. AL is also very reasonably priced. I'm so glad they opened the location in the Heights, was a fan of their first location but this is more convenient for me

We got a gyro bowl and the gyro plate and added an extra pita. It was really delicious. My two year old loved all of it from the pita to the meet to the hummus and the veggies. Everything was fresh and hot and a good amount of food. Really pleased there's a store in the heights now.

Was disappointed with my experience here. I have ordered from the original location many times in the past and loved it. This is my first visit to the heights spot and it was unfortunately subpar. Meat was overdone and crunchy, was original told they were out of tzatziki when our food was brought out but then they found some. Cauliflower was good! Overall just not the quality I expected or have seen in the past. Two small tables inside and window/bar seating. Parking is easy!

Don't be fooled. It wasn't good.

Wow. Such a disappointment. We got the schwarma plate and hummus with gyro. There was a lot of food but nothing was good. The chicken schwarma was extra, extra dry. It was a slow day so maybe the meat has been sitting out all day and they reheated it? That's what it tasted like. The salad that came with was confused about how it wanted to taste. The gyro was fine but the hummus tasted as if came from the grocery store. Finally, the pita was cold and hard. Atmosphere and service were lackluster.

Came here for lunch on a Monday to eat-in. They have a couple of 2-seater tables and several counter seats, but most people were getting to-go. I opted for the Gyro Sandwich plus a side of fries and their garlic sauce (more like a garlic paste as it is quite thick). Food came out pretty fast, and piping hot. Fresh! Everything was top-notch: the meat was juicy and flavorful, the veggies were slightly roasted and soft, the pita wrapping soft and pillowy. Add to that a topping of the tzatziki sauce and it was heaven, certainly best gyro I have had in Houston. Fries were standard, but perfectly crisp with a soft interior. Garlic sauce was a great way to dip, but my breath is certainly suffering for it! I was very surprised by the size and variety in the menu from such a small place. Can't wait to come back and try some other items!

We stopped by specifically for baklava since we were craving it. It was good and well priced. I personally like it a little bit sweeter, but I have a sweet tooth lol. It's still really good and not as gooey as some others I've tried. It's a very small shop, and parking lot is limited. My bf went in and said it was quick and easy to pickup! Will stop by again next time I have a craving for something sweet

Finally got to check out the new heights location after frequenting the Montrose location for years! Same great food and service! My favorite is the gyro so today I got a gyro sandwich with some French fries. I LOVE their Tzatziki sauce-used every last bit they gave me! Come check them out-they serve breakfast from 10 AM to 1 PM so I gotta come back to try that!

Fresh, Authentic, and Delicious! I had the pleasure of dining at Al(s) Quick Stop in The Heights. The first time I ordered the platter it comes with fresh veggies, 2 meats on a bed of rice, hummus, and a very fluffy piece of Pita Bread. The meat is very fresh straight of the Rotisserie and moist, without the dryness in some restaurants off Hillcroft. On my second visit I had the chicken Shawarma Sandwich which is in my opinion the best in Houston! It was tender with fresh veggies and the garlic sauce is out of this world. I only imagine if I had added fries....cue (Homer Simpson GIF). It is nothing like the Halal Guys so do not expect the same flavors. I liken it to a true Mediterranean food experience. I reminisce on a good Hala Food Cart in NYC but fresher food! I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner. He was telling me the story about the name Al not Al's and his expansion into The Heights. My friend and I enjoyed his candor tremendously! If you're in The Heights don't sleep on Al Quick Stop. Good ownership and better food!

This is the hairs that I pulled out my food.

I ordered Gyro fries thru Lunchdrop. I took about 2 bites and the food was amazin, I opened the white sauce they give you to dipped my fries in it, when I opened it, it was a black hair in my sauce so It was easy to see. My hair in long blonde and black Don't was not my hair. No biggie... I removed the hair and just continued to eat my food. I'll leave the white sauce alone. took a few more bites of my food and it was another short black hair in my friea mixed with the melted cheese. I was disappointed at that point and couldn't eat the rest of my food. I would have given more start bcuz the food was good but I couldn't get past the hairs In my food.

If I ordered this meal again I would order another side dish perhaps the rice. This meal was a 3.5. Another visit was for dinner was to try the Kokkinisto entree for $21. Again this meal comes with the same enjoyable side salad with bread and I chose the Briami as the supplied side dish. The Kokkinisto (Greek beef stew) arrived on a bed of rice and covered in its herbed tomato sauce with garlic and onions. The Briami was in a separate bowl of stewed veggies in a light tomato sauce. I liked this meal better. The stew had good flavor with tender beef and a tasty red sauce. Also the veggies were good tasting too. I gave this meal a 4. Finally the waitress was very friendly. I believe her name was Jennifer? I like this restaurant and believe they serve good tasting and authentic Greek food.

The only two entrees I could see were a falafel plate and a cheese pida for vegetarians. I opted for the the cheese pida and a salad as I felt like my dinner needed some vegetables. The salad was plain tasting consisting of a lemon based dressing and cubes of tomato, cucumber, bell pepper. The dressing was not strong and I wished it had more flavor. I took it home and added my own dressing from home the next day. It's unfortunate that they charge an additional $1.50 for feta cheese which would have elevated the salad flavor. The cheese pide was good and a very large portion size. I wish there were some vegetables added however. The dough was delicious. Istanbul grill does make good bread. The pita bread was also good, very soft, and tasted fresh. It was busy on a Saturday night. Decor is minimal inside and ambiance was family friendly. Most of the tables were families with children. I will note that the interior was on the warmer side for a November night. Overall likely would not return just because of limited vegetarian food.
