    Fish and Shrimp Tacos (delivery)

We've been ordering from this place often since the food is high quality. You can see and taste the freshness of the ingredients. My favorites are the shrimp, chicken, and steak tacos. My husband loves their burritos.

    Multigrain Tortilla soup

I drove past the restaurant a number of times and never stopped in mainly because of COVID-19 restrictions. Last week T Mobile Tuesday's featured a $25 off coupon on restaurants.com when you spend $50 or more. Well that's not too difficult these days so I decided to give them a try. Currently it's take out only and that was good as the restaurant is on the small side. They feature healthy and vegan style options if you want to go that way. They have tacos, burritos, quesadillas, entrees Mexican tortas, enchiladas, salads, soups, deserts, smoothies, juices, sauces, sides and deserts. There are over 100 items on the menu. I called to get some information on redeeming the coupon and spoke with Alfredo who was very nice, unfortunately I did not get to meet him in the restaurant. Everything We ordered was very good. I would say from my choices the tacos were the best! They were pretty large and you have a choice of the whole meat or multigrain. We ordered the chicken tacos and the fish tacos. They come with onions, cilantro, and lime. You can opt for extras at an additional cost. The multigrain tortilla soup was my least favorite, it was good although tasted a little bland. It comes with chips that were salty. The muscle repair plate was big enough for 2 people for sure. It consists of chicken, steak, cactus, pico de gallo, pinto mash, quinoa and Al Horno sauce. I gave them 5 stars based on my take out experience. I'm not sure that I would want to dine in when it returns unless it's for breakfast or lunch. It does not seem there would be much atmosphere. They have multiple locations with 5 in Manhattan and 1 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. I would recommend them for their food and will be back. See

    Chipotle Steak Burrito

It looks like Brooklyn has the best Al Horno Lean Mexican Kitchen, judging from the Yelp ratings. I ordered on UberEats and got the food hot, packaged well, and up-to-par in terms of quality and taste. The Chipotle Steak Burrito ($12.45) was amazing. Packed with tons of meat, this guacamole, black beans, brown rice, (optional) quinoa and chipotle sauce burrito wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla hit the spot and did not spill, which is surprising compared to Chipotle burritos. I love the healthy options at Al Horno, but for the Chia Cakes ($9.45), multi-grain chia seed pancakes topped with fruit, I found it a bit tasteless (sign of healthfulness, I suppose). Maybe it's because they're two pancakes stacked on top of each other, but if I eat this again, I would probably add my own butter and sugared syrup or honey to both layers. The fruits themselves were fresh. Lastly, for lunch the day after, I ate the Al Horno Burrito, and after a quick microwave heating, it was still fresh! I liked the flavor and texture of the pepper jack cheese with the rest of the burrito. It also added some moisture to the chicken and tortilla which could've been on the drier side. I'm not sure what the Al Horno sauce is exactly, but it's non-spicy and tastes good. Plus, the $10.95 tag is well worth.

It took me way too long to try this place, the food is outstanding. If I lived closer I would be there everyday (which in this case, my waistline thanks me). We ordered the chicken jalapeño soup, fit fajita, wild Buffalo burrito and the chipotle steak burrito. I ate the steak burrito, it was so lean and softer than butter, definitely a must try. It all came with chips and guacamole. I'm not one to rave about guac because it is a simple recipe, however this is probably one of the best I have ever had. Pass on chipotle, qdoba or any other fast grab and go burrito spot and get here ASAP, you will not be disappointed.

I was very interested to try a healthy or "lean" version of Mexican food. It's a hard comparison to regular Mexican joints. I would compare it to maybe fuel or nature's grill, but Mexican style. They offer smoothies, juices, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, plates, and sandwiches. Prices aren't cheap, comparable to most health food joints. You order and sit down, or get take out. I got my food rather quickly. I got the endurance plate which comes with chicken breast, pico de Gallo, black beans, avocado, and al horno sauce. The chicken breast was marinated well, flavorful and not too dry. The al horno sauce definitely helped with that. The al horno sauce is green in color, has a hint of avocado flavor to it, not exactly sure what it's made of. The platter was enjoyable, didn't feel guilty about eating it, and I was full after. I'd compare to to a burrito bowl from chipotle but a much leaner version. A good alternate to have in the neighborhood for a quick bite.

    Turkey Chorizo Burrito ($10.95) - 80% rice =(
    Nick R.

I had been super excited for this dope lean-Mexican-cuisine concept, but the burrito was a poor showing. It was 80% rice - meaning it still felt like a cheat meal and it was pretty bland. Maybe other menu-options are better, but I'll be going back to Fuel or Chipotle for more macro balanced meals first. Overall: 3.4 / Food: 3.2 / Service: 4.5 / Space: 3.0 / Value: 4.0 Turkey Chorizo Burrito ($10.95) - turkey chorizo, black beans, pico de gallo, low-fat pepper jack, brown rice & Al Horno Sauce. The burrito comes nicely toasted/grilled pressed and gives the shell a small crunch and structure. But that's where the praises end. The filling was just disappointing. The burrito was 80% rice, making it difficult to find the turkey chorizo flavor, or any of the other flavors for that matter. Even cheap black beans and pico de gallo were few and far between. The over-stuffing of rice caused two issues for me - 1) it took over the flavors of the burrito, making it relatively bland, and 2) it took away the point of the "lean Mexican cuisine". I still felt like I was having a cheat meal with a deluge of unnecessary carbs. In comparison for guilt-free meals, I will likely be heading back to Fuel instead, and maybe even Chipotle for better balanced macros. I may give Al Horno another try since I would love to have more of a repertoire of guilt-free restaurants (most of my restaurant outings are reserved for total macro blow-outs, so having healthy staples is nice). But I will not be getting another burrito. The meal did come with an order of chips & salsa (plus a refill) which was totally unexpected, especially for the price. The tortilla chips were not salty and the salsa had a pretty mild, but sweet, tang which was a pleasant appetizer. Overall, on bang-for-your-buck, you get a lot of food at Al Horno for the prices you pay. My biases: I'm a mid-20s male from NYC with a mean sweet tooth, looking for a full-stomach after any meal, and an appreciation for high-quality food experiences - but only at a value. Taste is always the priority.

This place is new to the neighborhood on a busy block in Bay Ridge. This place is really good! Fresh and tasty options for all. Not authentic so don't expect that... just tasty with a lot of different ingredients. Juice was refreshing. Only compliant is price... a bit on the expensive side .. but you get what you pay for. Will be here again.

Yes!! So happy that a new spot open up in Bay Ridge! Especially, when it's a new mexican restaurant! I recently visited this place and they make so many food. You can get tacos, burritos or a bowl and they make unique smoothies too. I've tried their tacos and it was so tasty! What I lvoe about this place is how they make their dishes healthy and lean hence their name al horno lean. I also love how they make healthy fruit and green smothies. Definitely, a great place to eat a delicious and healthy meal.

I LOVE this place! My favorite dish so far the Lean Beef Barbacoa torra. Big portions! So one burrito or sandwich is good for two people. I will be coming back here often. The guy taking orders is awesome! It would be awesome if they had beer.

    Anna M.

Great addition to Bay Ridge foodie scene! Fresh, healthy Mexican food that's thoroughly delicious! They have a lot of options for taco/burrito/quesadilla fillings - veggie, chicken, steak, turkey chorizo, barbacoa, turkey tex mex - something for everyone! We had a fajita quesadilla with barbacoa, which was huge and finger-licking good; and a steak burrito that was filling and hearty. All the food tasted very fresh and made to order. Excellent addition to the neighborhood, especially thanks to the plentiful healthy options!!

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.

4.4 and rounded up. Ambiance 4 stars…read more Food 5 stars. Service 4.3 stars. AMBIANCE: Walking to the restaurant from the subway, it's located on an unassuming block at the corner of 4th St and Havemeyer in Williamsburg, front of store doesn't particularly stand out. Walking in they've decorated with creative, crafty (in a good way) touches--the multitude of ropes draped from the ceiling add dimension to the ceiling and the bar back wall is composed of wood pieces forming a multi-colored herringbone pattern. Textured glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling throw mini geometric patterns across the dark walls, and vibrant canvas artworks add pictorial interest along the walls. FOOD: YUM. I can see why this place was jam packed on a Saturday night, and reservations are needed. Strong recommendation for their tasting menu at $58 pp, what a delightful meal! 8 sharing dishes and 3 desserts were perfect for a party of five, and drinks are separate though you can add a cocktail pairing for $47. For each main they provide a serving per person, and the desserts are shared. I came hungry and was so full by the end of the meal--everything was delicious! - grapefruit guacamole w/house-made chips: the grapefruit chunks were "meaty" and surprisingly went really well with the guac, it added a different citrus element than the usual lime. Comes with a small bowl of maybe 6-7 chips and we asked for two chips refills since the chips to guac and salsa ratio was low. - spicy faroe islands' salmon tartar: tasty and I liked the latin flavors and corn, snow peas, a touch of wasabi. Flavors of the sesame-soy-truffle-lemon vin and crema got a little muddled. Relatively more "generic" dish of the evening though I was here for it! Any dish with fresh tender salmon, I can't complain. - blue crab and carrot tostada, generous shredded crab salad on top of freshly crisp blue corn tortilla. Topped with pumpkin seeds, dill, cilantro, and saffron-orange aioli. - three cheese & artichoke 'queso fundido': served in a very hot ceramic pot and super melty and delicious, eaten with the fluffy grilled pita and green apple slices + salsa. One of the top picks of the evening. - roasted bone marrow and chorizo, served as tacos with fresh blue corn tortillas, and added a sprinkle of pickled onions--does that sound amazing? Bc it was AAHMAZING. - spicy chipotle-guajillo shimp 'diablo' (not spicy): served with pumpkin tortillas and three accompaniments on the side--mushroom chile crisp, horseradish crema, celery 'salsa macha". Part 2 to make your own tacos was another hit! Our entire table agreed if they sold the sauce for the shrimp we'd all buy it. - heritage pork osso bucco 'carnitas' with Fall-spiced black mole, sour cherry mostardo, calabrian chile pesto: cue drooling now. This part 3 of the tacos was served on pumpkin tortillas; the meat was practically falling off the bone, tender, juicy and flavorful. - buffalo-style com 'elote: sooo good too! A little messier to eat since it comes drizzled with spicy hot sauce butter, feta, lime aioli, cilantro, though totally worth it! - Desserts: --green tea matcha churros: comes with two little pots of spiced mexican chocolate & passion fruit sauce. Warm, sugary and crisp without being too sweet. --pumpkin spiced-vanilla flan: topped with sour cherries, cocoa nibs & toasted seed 'trail mix", if you love flan you'll love this, so smooth and creamy with a bit of crunch and tang from the cherries. --pistachio tres leches cake with cream cheese frosting, raspberry, using an olive oil cake: we all agreed this was probably the best tres leches we've ever had. The pistachio nuttiness and the creaminess from the milks paired well. SERVICE: Very friendly and attentive service though it was very loud in the restaurant and they had to really shout. There was a delay in the middle of our meal I think bc kitchen was slammed, after the entree we waited about 35 min for our desserts. Considering they limited the seating to 2 hours and about half of our party arrived 20 min late, and accounting for the long wait pre-dessert, they did us solid by extending our table time by about an hour in total. Also great that they brought the first dessert out with a candle for my friend's birthday.
