They really put flavor and seasoning into everything they do and I genuinely love everything on their menu. Pickle and sauce fans will be happy because they always put white sauces, hot sauces, and a variety of pickled veg with their orders. If you're ordering for a group or catering this a particularly good place to order from - it's really easy to find dietary friendly accommodations such as vegetarian and gluten free, while also feeding a crowd for a reasonable price. I've ordered for work events a few times and everyone raved about the flavor while I myself had an easy time with the ordering process. Only thing I learned is *clapping* I need to order more fafafel next time!!! It's a hit with everyone and definitely not just for vegetarians. Whether you're just swinging by at the Salt City Market or ordering for a crowd I recommend Baghdad. They're some of the best middle eastern food in Syracuse.

There wasn't nothing we didn't like, but the standouts were the rice and grain, the dolmas, and my husband really liked the meats. I also ordered the spanakopita and I highly recommend it. She was looking for advice from me, but I was very happy when the owner came by and said he could select our food and we trusted him.He asked us a few questions about spice level, proteins, etc. He said he would bring us an appetizer, a chicken entree and a vegetable entree. He also brought us 2 hot chai drinks. We agreed it was the best chai we've ever had....it was mildly sweet and the spices were perfect. We were brought as an appetizer...fried cauliflower with a Manchurian sauce which was sweet, mildly spicy and a touch sour..... perfect. We got 4 beautiful veggie balls..... finely minced veggies with paneer in a very creamy sauce. The taste was a little sweet and when eaten on the super hot and fresh naan it was delicious. Our last dish was chicken kebabs, I believe made in the tandoori oven with spices and served with a beautiful sweet, creamy tomato sauce. We didn't ask for dessert but we're brought a complementary rice pudding to share... heavenly! We were checked on several times and water glasses were kept filled. We are both big water drinkers. I was so impressed with both service and food. If I could rate it more than 5 stars, I would do it!!

After taking some neighborhood streets, we arrived at the location and parked in their small lot. There was room for perhaps for 6-7 cars. Each space was labeled for whether it was for the restaurant or not. Entering, we were greeted and seated. We had about 1 hour and 14 minutes before boarding, so the staff were very accommodating and pointed out what could be made quickly (basically everything except their tandoori). They also answered questions about gluten. We ended up getting aloo tikki chaat and a lamb shank masala. They provided chickpea flour crisps with mint-cilantro and tamarind chutney. They also brought us their complimentary chai tea, which was very nice and satisfying. Their chaat was well-balanced, gluten-free (the crispies are made with chickpea flour), and it had pomengranate, chickpeas, and potatoes. The pile was dressed with yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney. Their lamb shank masala came bone-in with the curry sauce surrounding it. The lamb was well cooked, and mostly moist and tender, though there were parts that were dry. Both dishes were well-adorned, which was a nice touch. Best of all, however, was how exemplary all the staff were at the restaurant. They exuded a wonderful calmness and hospitality. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Syracuse.

This place seems to be only a grocery store, there was no restaurant or kitchen to order inside like other reviews state. Inside the floors were very sticky and my shoes were sticking to the floor, the inside was really dirty and it smelled bad. Food was hit or miss on expiration dates. There was a lot of variety. I did pick up a bag of bananako since its hard to find in the area but that was plenty and all I needed before being ready to leave. Prices were on the higher end compared to other import markets in the area. If you go I'd recommend packaged items.

When I found out Syracuse has a place serving cevapi, I was ecstatic. Obviously, the first time I went, I had to try the cevapi, which did not surpass the lofty bar set by my first experience but was a good dish overall. The portion size provides excellent value and while the service is nothing to write home about, it was by no means negligent. Next time I went, I decided to experiment a bit and tried the pljeskavica. I was blown away by this dish and think I now have a new favorite. The meat was high quality, tender, and scrumptious. And once again, the portion size provided excellent value. The dining area is also linked to a grocery store serving a variety of eclectic European, Turkish, and Middle Eastern products. As someone who only eats halal meat, it was nice to find a place that had halal products in Syracuse like sucuk (sausage).

We arrived around 2:30pm on a Thursday, there was only one other group there. We were immediately greeted and our waiter was super friendly and chatty. The inside is pretty casual, and they played 2000s hits at a good volume. We started with a cup of Turkish coffee... I've never had Turkish coffee so maybe this is standard, but they did not offer cream or sugar. I don't usually like black coffee but it was surprisingly light, and the serving was pretty small so I actually quite enjoyed it. The owner later said it was the brand Utica coffee (which I love). We ordered the loaded fries, which came with taziki sauce, feta cheese, and tabouleh. Usually loaded fries feel very heavy and greasy, but these tasted very fresh. For the main dish, we ordered the Elias Gyro and the Layla Gyro. My pallet is usually more oriented towards lots of flavor and spice, so I found the Layla Gyro to be lighter than I would have liked. There wasn't as much sauce as I was expecting, but it was still very moist. I loved the pickled vegetables in it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fries. The Elias Gyro was a lot more flavor heavy thanks to the garlic sauce, which was delicious. The meat in both gyros was cooked perfectly. Lastly, we had the baklava. Ive never had baklava before so I have nothing to compare it to, but oh my goodness it was so good. Overall, super positive experience. It's always such a treat to see the owner walking around interacting with customers, and I would definitely go again whenever I want something light and fresh.

My wife didn't like the taste of the meat, but I thought it tasted good ‍. I traded her some of my scallops for her steak tips, so it didn't significantly affect our enjoyment of the evening The hibachi dinners come with soup and salad and they also served a small bowl of spicy mustard sauce that was really tasty Service was good The restaurant is clean and comfortable with one exception: seating at the hibachi tables can be tight/cramped unless everyone happens to be small/thin. Also, you may be seated with people you don't know (which is common for hibachi restaurants) unless you come with a larger group -- maybe 5-8 people depending on how busy they are. There are a lot of choices on the extensive menu, although there is no dessert menu. They do have vanilla and chocolate cupcakes for birthdays, and you can ask for one even if it's not your birthday. On your birthday, If you are 60 or older the staff will practice the Japanese tradition "Kanreki" and wear red adult diapers outside of their clothing for the required baby clothes look as per the tradition. The chef was very friendly and cooked the food well, although there wasn't as much performance/showmanship as I've seen at some other hibachi places. One more thing: I was joking about the staff wearing diapers for the Japanese "Kanreki" tradition
