I ordered takeout from here one night and found myself asking "how have I not ordered from here…read morebefore?" The restaurant is on Westcott Street and has been open literally longer than I've been alive. It very much has the vibe of a local spot that probably has regulars. Parking can be tight on Westcott itself but there is a small lot that they share with Mom's diner. Inside there's a bar and a second dining room with a stage where I think they do trivia. Lots of nice decor. It feels very homey. I heard they had a hummus shake and was intrigued to try it. They have a bunch of syrups they can mix in to flavor it. It was interesting. Very very syrupy sweet, and the taste is unusual at first but kinda grew on me. The real star was the savory food though. I went for a shrimp gyro. As a pescatarian, I was psyched to see this on the menu because most places around here only have falafel or meat, so it was nice to have another option. The shrimp were SO PLUMP and well seasoned. Very big size and quite full inside the pita. Felt that I was getting my money's worth. The vegetables were very fresh, pita soft, and sauce perfectly tangy. To be honest I'm still dreaming of this. I'd try more of their options. Also worth noting, when I called in my takeout order the hostess (/server?) was so incredibly courteous and friendly in a way that feels fairly rare anymore.

I think these guys have the flash in the kitchen. Within 10 minutes of ordering the beautiful…read morepictures below were brought to us. My chicken gyro bowl was packed with flavor and well arranged so I could eat different things on the plate as I wanted. This included the chicken, rice, a salad, toasted pita bread, pickled onions, and a zesty cheese dipping sauce I couldn't quite place but I lived. Had to take the rest to go. My gf got the hummus dinner with veggies and pita and some falafel. I tried some just so flavorful. Dinner, tax, tip, $32 seems good in this economy.

This spot is easy to miss. It is in a small strip of businesses, diagonally across from Meyda…read moreLighting. First impression was that the siting area was relatively clean. No one was there, maybe it's just quiet on Wednesdays. I ordered a mixed meat gyro with fries and canned soda, and a piece of Galaktobureko. I took my food to go. The gyro was big, nice thinly sliced red onions, lettuce and tomatoes, perfect amount of tzatziki sauce. Pita was warm and soft; it didn't over take the wrap. The dessert was very enjoyable. I had not experienced a custard filled philo and will definitely order again. I overheard the owner cooking my order say his mom, also an owner from what I gathered, makes the desserts. Check this place out for sure!

Greek Gyros of Yorkville serves solid, highly satisfying casual Greek fare. We ordered a chicken…read moregyro, falafel gyro, and spanakopita, all of which were delicious and filling. The gyros were made to order and everything tasted fresh. My husband especially loved and raved about his crispy falafel gyro. Seeking a vegetarian entree for lunch, the falafel gyro really hit the spot for him. My toddlers and I enjoyed the chicken gyro. The pita bread was so warm and soft, and the tzatziki sauce was truly yummy and delightful. I don't know that I've ever had spanakopita so light and flaky before. Much of what I've had in the past was comparatively dense with a lot more feta; this had more pastry and some spinach and hardly any feta. That said, it was scrumptious and memorable. It also came with a side salad and extra tzatziki dressing. The portion size was moderate; in the future, if I had come with a bigger appetite I would order a gyro. Service was brisk, though it took a while for the spanakopita to be served (which was no matter since the wait was worth it). The fact that Greek Gyros was relatively busy on a blisteringly cold winter day with a high of 15 degrees is a testament to how good it is that people step out for its food. The restaurant was heated and clean, with nice images of Greek hanging on the walls of the restaurant. Seating was casual and there was a high chair, altogether making it a great low-key lunch spot for a family with young kids.
