By golly Byblos is good! My first time ordering Byblos I did a take out order and just the smell had my mouth watering- onions and herbs promising goodness within. While I did pickup the food DELIVERED on flavor! I had falafel- moist, yummy. My salad was the star though with it's herbaious vinegar and oil dressing. I love parsley and mint and they really shined bright on a dull winter day. Everyone in the group I brought the food home to loved the baba ganoush. It was smokey and garlicly and we all kept diving in for more. I've gone back repeatedly since my first take out order and it's been consistently good on flavor. Their kofta, something I try everywhere, is one of the better ones I have had. And their baklava is tasty, flakey, nutty, yumminess. Dine-in: their location is a hole in the wall, and very small, so while there are a few tables where you can sit and relax I think it's better suited for takeout. Byblos has become my go-to middle eastern. You bring me herbs and garlic and I will repeatedly bring you my wallet.

    Meat Sampler for two

A cafe that packs a punch, small but mighty. This Mediterranean cafe has fresh and flavorful Mediterranean cuisine. The gyro bowl is certainly the way to go for your first time, second time or every time. The value and quality ranks top in the 315 area. This time I went with the Meat Sampler for two which carried a price tag of $29.99. I was excited to fill my belly with all the flavors of the Mediterranean. The side salad was fresh, hummus was delicious and the falafel was crisp. Well cooked and a plethora of food, although this couldn't feed two I was left wanting more. Great flavors but not enough value for me to recommend the meat sampler for two to someone with a big appetite. The gyro bowl is the tried and true winner where quality meets the quantity sweet spot. If you're really starving for for two, leave the meat sampler for someone whose looking to taste several things but not get filled up.

Years ago when the Black Olive went away, we began filling our Mediterranean needs here. This was my gateway out of Greece and south of the border. We usually go with the meat lovers super sampler, since it gives you a very inclusive selection of their menu, enough to feed two people, and at a reasonable price. After eating here, I can't make Mediterranean food at home without roasting a whole tray of onions and peppers. Their scoop shape makes them the perfect vehicle to pile everything else onto. This is one of the few places I know that makes a decent Greek/Turkish coffee. I've only had it once though, because they're not really a dine-in place. They have a couple tables in the small area in front, but it was a little cramped the time I did eat there with a few people. Everything I've had here was good. Not always the best in town, but never less than 4 out of 5. The biggest take away, the thing we crave badly enough by itself to bring us back here every time, is the garlic sauce. So creamy, and so rich with perfect flavor. There's nothing I wouldn't eat with it. They also make my favorite kafta out of anything I've tried around town. I strongly recommend getting the super sampler, especially if you want to try more than a few things. Everything pictured here is from that, except I think we added the kafta as a third meat. If you're up for it, the only thing missing is the spanakopita, which is also on point.

My shawarma wraps were underfilled, all pita. Except the pita were ripped and the little bit of chicken in there fell all over when I unwrapped it. Paid more than $30 for two wraps I couldn't eat and a piece of baklava. The meat was not cooked to order either; it was microwaved. Felt I got ripped off. Munjed's and King David's are better options. Will be avoiding this place from now on.

I've been wanting to change up my lunch selections when I work downtown and figured I'd give this place a shot and I am GLAD I did!! It's so cute and tiny walking in, with fair prices and polite staff. I got the chicken kabob wrap and my coworker got the gyro wrap, we were both so satisfied with our orders. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of my food because I dove into it so fast! The flavor was spot on, and everything was perfectly cooked. Will absolutely be back

We were driving home to Buffalo from Binghamton when my fiancee told me she wanted Greek for supper, so naturally I jumped on Yelp. My criteria were: 4+ stars, more than 75 reviews, and close to the highway. We were very very happy with our decision to stop at Byblos! The cafe is small, only 4 tables and a few stools along the window table top. But the food was amazing. I had the falafel wrap and my fiancee had the chicken kabob wrap. We also had a bowl of tabbouleh. Everything was flavorful not over powered by sauce like a lot of Greek places. The tabbouleh was hands down the best I've ever had. We're extremely happy with our stop in Syracuse but sad our new favorite Greek place is 2 hours away!

Combo bowl. Weird frozen like chicken over soggy rice. I tossed this after a few bites

Absolute and utter disappointment. Walked over 15 minutes to check out this place because I love Mediterranean. Honestly would of rather had a hotel frozen burrito. The rice was very soggy, the chicken was chewy like it was previously frozen. And the sad two pieces of pita were cold and almost stale. After a few bites and spit ups of weird tasting chicken, I threw in the towel. Waste of $15

Incredible falafel and hummus! The service was great! And, got to meet the owners mom and brother.. Who were suuuuuper nice! This place is really comfortable and welcoming! I look forward to going back next time I'm across the country!

    fried sambousek, hot and amazing

I was in town and I knew I had to come to Byblos while I visited Syracuse! This is a gem in downtown that's a bit hidden but totally worth eating here! While Byblos has expanded to two different locations that are more aesthetically better and bigger in Armory Square, I still prefer the original little hole in the wall! While the original location is tiny, the original chef/chef that came out on the Diners Drive ins, and Dives is the head chef there. Both the veggie and meat super platters come with generous portions big enough to share between both people. I tend to get this whenever I bring someone else with me. I love waiting for my food here because it is always fresh. The Middle Eastern pizzas are amazing as well, both the meat ones and the veggies are hot and the bread of the pizzas is thin and fresh. The fried sambouseks are also on a whole other level, they're like empanadas but seasoned differently, and they're delicious surprising pockets perfectly seasoned with meat and pine nuts. Byblos is one of this places I look forward eating at whenever I am in town.

The food is good. Like extremely authentic and just makes me remember how much I appreciate Mediterranean food: pitas, gyros, tzatziki, feta, spinach, etc. That being said, I feel like Byblos on Clinton always confuses me because I forget that it's more of a take out/pick up/delivery place. There's some seating, but the place is always rather vacant, undisturbed, and it just doesn't feel right to eat in--yet I always do because I forget about the previous eating options. Anyways, keep that in mind. I believe there is another location and that is probably more of dine in scene. But hey! Guy Fieri came here! I split a chicken gyro with my mom because I'm basic. Also, because we both weren't starving and we also had the spinach feta puff pastry appetizer. Okay, I apologize, it has a name it's just not coming to me at the moment. I always feel bad not relieving the names off the menu. The gyro was difficult to share, as one can imagine. It was a glorious mess, spilling chicken and tomatoes and chopped romaine all over the foil. However, it was just the dish to hit the spot. The spinach app wasn't as hot as I would have liked it, which sounds super picky, but it just felt like it was 3/4 cooked or left out too long. Oh! We also split the baklava. I freaking adore baklava--and they make it themselves! Ugh, those layers of phyllo, honey, walnuts, butter, pistachio, just scrumptious. You could eat 3 of them and they're so light, it's just a whiff of deliciousness.

Baklava that makes me cry with happiness

The food was very good. The staff was nice. The food came out quickly. I had a lamb gyro with a side of baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj had a rich and creamy texture with nice smoky and garlic flavor. The gyro meat was well seasoned and not overly salty. The only critiques I have are 1) I wish it had feta cheese on it and 2) It was not warm when it was served to me. I had baklava for dessert and OH MY was it delicious. It was some of the best baklava I have ever eaten. The phyllo dough was golden and crisped to perfection. It was infused with the perfect amount of honey, and combined beautifully with the taste of the roasted walnuts from the bottom layer. I could have eaten about 10 of those things. I will definitely go back to Byblos! My friend had the sampler platter and was very satisfied with her meal. She too was impressed with the baklava. The prices are reasonable and the food is yummy! Thank you Byblos!

    Sad salad sans feta, olives
    erin s.

This review is for the poor service. Long story short take your money elsewhere. My husband picked up 2 Mediterranean salads, one with falafel one with chicken. The one with falafel was missing feta and olives. I called hoping they would rectify the situation. The young girl on the phone put me on hold to 'check with the kitchen' and came back to say the salads were both the same. I asked her twice if I needed to come show her in person, the second time I said I would want my money back if I had to come from my hotel at 8pm in the pouring rain her response was 'ok'. I show up with the sad looking salad and ask for my money back. Initially the owner didn't care about my complaint stating they were 'very busy'. I then said I would be posting a review. That's when things changed and the owner who (I assume) was the person who was consulted in the first place when I called told me it was mean to post a review. I told her it was the truth, that I wasn't trying to be mean. Unfortunately it was too little too late when she tried to make good by offering me baklava or something else. I got my money back and ran to try otro cinco.

This is for the food truck. I had a traditional gyro. It was ok at best. A bit dry. Maybe the actual restaurant is better.

My spouse had a grape leaves dinner and I had a falafel "gyro", we, both, were pleased with our selections. We arrived around 2:30pm on a Thursday, there was only one other group there. We were immediately greeted and our waiter was super friendly and chatty. The inside is pretty casual, and they played 2000s hits at a good volume. We started with a cup of Turkish coffee... I've never had Turkish coffee so maybe this is standard, but they did not offer cream or sugar. I don't usually like black coffee but it was surprisingly light, and the serving was pretty small so I actually quite enjoyed it. The owner later said it was the brand Utica coffee (which I love). We ordered the loaded fries, which came with taziki sauce, feta cheese, and tabouleh. Usually loaded fries feel very heavy and greasy, but these tasted very fresh. For the main dish, we ordered the Elias Gyro and the Layla Gyro. My pallet is usually more oriented towards lots of flavor and spice, so I found the Layla Gyro to be lighter than I would have liked. There wasn't as much sauce as I was expecting, but it was still very moist. I loved the pickled vegetables in it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fries. The Elias Gyro was a lot more flavor heavy thanks to the garlic sauce, which was delicious. The meat in both gyros was cooked perfectly. Lastly, we had the baklava. Ive never had baklava before so I have nothing to compare it to, but oh my goodness it was so good. Overall, super positive experience. It's always such a treat to see the owner walking around interacting with customers, and I would definitely go again whenever I want something light and fresh.
