By now, you must know this is our favorite restaurant. That's a big statement, considering I have been a chef for over 40 years. I recommended the place not only for its excellent Mediterranean food but also because it offers a great learning opportunity. They are currently facing a shortage of staff and need a line cook. This is a perfect chance for someone to learn Mediterranean cooking and maybe even add a few American-style dishes. For those of you that liked Bubul (Liverpool) then you're in a for a treat. Same owners, different location, same great food! I missed their hummus and their kebabs! We had the hummus with chicken shawarma and their falafel for an app. The kabob skewers in the Diwan mix were very juicy and the wife loved her bowl of chicken gyro. Really fresh and delicious food. We got take out and tried the Shish Taouk (chicken skewers), lamb kabab, Falafel sandwich and eggplant salad. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. Located where Side Hill Farmers used to be in the Sno Top plaza. Very pleasant space. Had the Jordanian delight (which came with a basket of 2 pitas) and the Diwan mix because I wanted to sample a lot of the menu. There were no alcoholic beverages on the menu. It was a lot of food! The highlight of the meal were the falafel which were much lighter than versions I've had elsewhere. The pita and hummus were outstanding. The grape leaves were served warm and were different... don't know if I would order again. The beef kofta was my favorite of the 3 skewers, with the beef kabobs a close second. We've been to a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants. They're generally good to very good, with few standouts either way. Here's a standout. An excellent standout. A superb standout. My kafteh mixture of lamb and beef was perfectly spiced to complement the robust flavor of the lamb tempered by the beef. A hot-sauce (not too!) sprinkled thin bread went with it perfectly, and the simple salad with sweet onions had a nice subtle amount of oil and vinegar. Get that - it's worth the extra expense. My wife's dinner salad came with dang(!) good falafel muffins, a break from the mildly tasteless fare often served at other restaurants. And the baklava was stupendous. A little less sweet than we usually find, with a nice amount of honey, just enough to taste. And they're huge, about the size of a Ho-Ho(R) and I can't believe I'm comparing the two. But yum. Get that. The store is clean and our servers were attentive and friendly. An owner came by to chat, a middle eastern custom that I usually enjoy. Parking is easy in a well-designed lot, except for the left turn leaving the lot. Go there. read more

I came a few months ago. They're very new, just opened this year. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but when you enter it's actually very spacious and lovely. The dining room is well decorated, complete with mosaic glass lamps hanging. The serving staff is extremely attentive. One of the owners talked with me for a while, he's very friendly and takes a lot of pride in what they do. He greeted all the guests in the dining room while I was there. The family who owns this used to run BulBul in Liverpool, which I'd never been to, but am regretting having never dined at after having such a lovely experience here. I was having trouble making up my mind so I went with the Jordanian Delight, which came with Falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, yalanji (grape leaves), and baba ghanouj. All these noshes were so flavorful. I think the baba ghanouj was my favorite. They serve their grape leaves warm, and they're so comforting. The sampler comes with their homemade pita bread, served warm. You can taste how fresh it is. Ample tahini to dip. I couldn't work my way through the whole plate so I got a box and had leftovers. (Which I was SUPER excited about.) Nonetheless I got dessert, because I'd never seen a nutella baklava before, and how could I resist? It was just as sweet and decadent as I'd hoped. A lovely dining experience and plenty of vegetarian options. Definitely would return when I'm back on this side of town. read more

Recently moved to the area and we were hoping to find a good go-to Middle Eastern spot since it's our favorite cuisine. The food was average, we ordered the lamb kabob and chicken with rice. The baba ghanoush was unique; I enjoyed it, though my husband didn't. What really made the experience disappointing was the service. We were only halfway through our meal when the waitress brought us the check. We didn't think too much of it, but then she returned a minute or two later and stood behind us waiting for our card. We felt extremely rushed. We had been there for just over 30 minutes, and the restaurant wasn't even packed. Other tables who arrived before us were still eating with no check in sight. Overall, it was an off-putting experience, the most awkward and rushed restaurant visits we've had, thats saying a lot because we moved from philly. My husband felt it might have been racial profiling since we were the only non-white guests at the time. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt, especially in the 21st century and at a Middle Eastern restaurant, but regardless of the reason, we definitely won't be returning. Wow, I was so impressed by this place. We got takeout the other night and even my Lebanese Grandmother had great things to say. I tried the lamb kabob, half a falafel wrap, and fattoush. The lamb was the most tender I've ever had. The falafel had the perfect texture and taste making me realize that this is what it should taste like. I loved the hint of pomegranate in the fattoush dressing. My family tried the chicken kabob and said it very good also. I will def be back to try more. Portions are large for the price. read more

We each enjoyed a combo platter, the "Diwan Mix," featuring one kebab skewer each of chicken, beef, and Kofta, a seasoned ground beef. Dinners include salad and seasoned rice. Our hummus appetizer was first-rate, with steaming, soft pita bread straight from the oven. Really impressed by the food! I enjoy eating at many Middle Eastern restaurants across the country and this place has some of the best flavors I've found. We were there with a large group, so I was able to sample many dishes and everything I tried was worth ordering again. I especially loved the muhammara (red pepper with walnut and pomegranate dip) which is a little sweeter than I'm used to but it worked so well. The spicy kibbeh and the beef kofta were delicious too. Even for something as basic as tabbouleh or the salad that came with my dinner, the flavor profile was top-notch. I went with friends for the first time to diwan restaurant in Manlius. We each had something different and we tried each other's dishes. We all loved what we got and loved the other things we each got. Our experience and the food was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and warm and very eager to please us. It was warm and inviting and lovely decoration inside with music that was not too loud to have a conversation over. I will definitely go back. they have their own style. It's not a copy of other Middle Eastern restaurants. I feel they compete very favorably with other Middle Eastern restaurants in the Syracuse area. read more

Only problem for us was our server who, about 10 minutes after we began to eat, asked if we wanted take out containers & brought the bill. Only a few other customers so hard to figure out why she was hurrying us through our meal. Since we had only begun eating, we couldn't tell if we would finish our meals or if we wanted desert. Excellent food!! Have been there several times. They have the BEST falafel in CNY. It's light and delicious. The roasted cauliflower wrap is amazing. The salads are huge, fresh and big enough for multiple meals. The standout soup is the lentil. Incredible! The only off note was being charged $1 for extra tahini with the falafel. They're not serving a large portion with the falafel so it's odd to be charged for more. It's not classy, it's cheap. read more

Excited to see some middle eastern food here in Manlius. Had to stop by to scope it out. They're available for both dine in or carry out (we did carry out). Atmosphere is great, decor is nice - I was in just before close so I don't know if it's loud when packed, but we will definitely come back. We ordered a few sandwiches and sides. ingredients are excellent - you can definitely tell they make everything there. bread on sandwiches was perfect, seasoning was very nicely balanced (regional different from what my wife likes, but I loved it) - very glad to have options that aren't just salt and rice. Fries were crispy, seasoned, and tasty. lentil soup was delicious. Eggplant salad was wonderful. I'll be back to scope out more of the menu. What a lovely new addition to our village. Food was excellent. Falafel appetizer was absolutely delicious! Veggie pita sandwich and fries were great, two of us had the shish taouk which was so much food and super tasty - loved the flavorful chicken, delicious rice, and the simple salad was a nice accompaniment. We took home one of each of the 3 offered types of baklava which were also wonderful! We will definitely return. Every bite I had here was fantastic. Went with my son, and we started with felafel and baba ganoush appetizers. The felafel was perfectly crisp on the outside, and moist and flavorful inside; the baba ganoush was fantastic, with the smokiness that a good version of this dish should have, and some bright lemon. Our very friendly and attentive server recommended I get the lamb for main course, noting that it was fresh and local and that they didnt do much to it so as to let the great flavor come through. That was a spot on description, as it came perfectly grilled with just a touch of char, offsetting the tenderness of the meat. My son had a chicken and rice bowl which he enjoyed. For dessert we tried two different kinds of baklava, one a more traditional-ish walnut and almond, and the other made with nutella. I thought the latter might be hokey or for kids but it was surprisingly good, as if someone made baklava from a snickers bar. Great food and great service from very friendly people... can't imagine anyone who enjoys mediterranean food will regret a night out here. Will be back for sure. read more
