Best food in town. However, they need to have more selections. Also, they need to do better with their consistency.

This place has the best Lebanese food outside of Lebanon. Mary was such a pleasure to have as our server who was very sweet and attentive. We got the family platter 1 and it was enough food to feed at least 10 people!! It includes everything you could ever want and more. I am so full. read more

Excellent food and even better service from JuJu... she went above and beyond to make sure our children are happy! Thank you so much JuJu for the exceptional service you provided! Always great at that restaurant! read more

The food is delicious, our favorite middle eatern restaurant. During our lunch, Mary was very attentitive, helpful and friendly.

Before I moved away from Detroit, I had been visiting this restaurant with my family on a regular basis. Since I had to be back home, I decided to take my husband on a tour of all the restaurants that I miss. This place is still top notch. My husband had the lamb sauté with grilled vegetables and rice. I had the sujuk with fattoush salad, rice and vegetables. I had forgotten how much food this restaurant serves as an entree. Everything was amazing and spot on with flavor. I only wish that I had a larger stomach. read more

The food was so delicious! We had the 1/2 chicken, kabobs, and lamb liver. Our waitress Mary was very sweet and attentive. Will be returning soon! read more

Amazing food, great shawarma sandwiches, chicken raw oil, Fatoosh, homemade bread. My biggest problem with them now is that they have more than doubled sandwich prices and dinner items. In Feb 2021 a shawarma sandwich cost $3.99. Then the price increased a few months later to $5.00. A big jump but whatever- made sense, given we were in a pandemic. Fast forward to today, 08/24/23, one beef shawarma sandwich is $8.75. I don't know how this is possible but it is. Definitely will be going here less. read more

Always delicious. Always reliable. Always impeccable service. I've been coming here for years and honestly everything I've had here has been spectacular. From the shawarma to the shish tawook, the hummus and baba ganoush, the fattoush, the amazing pillowy pita bread, it's all good! The kebbie with the cooked beef? My favorite! The smoothies here are also fantastic. Fresh and a nice compliment to all their incredible food. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and very comfortable. It's great for a small 1:1 meal or a large group. They'll take care of you either way! read more

5 Stars for an incredible Lebanese feast worthy of its James Beard Award! I was in Detroit for a work trip, but we were totally down to make the trek to Dearborn for this special restaurant. The area is known for its Middle Eastern population and dining scene and Al-Ameer is definitely front and center. To be honest, someone else ordered and I am not quite sure what they got. I tasted it all and was blown away by the fresh ingredients and bold, deep flavors. The dishes that really stood out were the Baba Ghanouge (holy moly, I didn't know it could taste this good! A must-order for sure) as well as the Hummus (basic? Not this hummus! Order it and be taken on a journey. And never be able to buy pre-packaged Sabra "hummus" again.), and the Kebbie with hashwi (This is a dish of raw meat topped with cooked ground meat and onions. I was a bit apprehensive, but it worked! I have enjoyed beef tartare before, but this took it to another level entirely). What a treat it was to gather and dine as a large group here! Highly recommend! read more

Great find and definitely deserves the reputation of great home made food. Service was fast and location was very homey and clean.

On a recent work trip to Detroit, my coworkers, Annette J and Brittany S planned a group dinner at Al-Ameer for us. When I saw we were heading to Dearborn from Detroit, my first thought was, why would we go so far when there are so many options downtown, but then I heard about Al-Ameer and I understood! While I grew up in the Detroit area, I never made it to Al Ameer back then. After having it now, I feel like I missed out on years of experiencing the real deal of authentic Mediterranean cuisine! This is one of only a couple of Middle Eastern restaurants that opened back in the eighties and still remains, which is definitely a testament to the food and overall experience! Our group started with family style appetizers including hummus, tabouleh, kibbeh, and babaghanoush. All of this was served with warm pita, which is of course, delicious! Some folks ordered some fresh juice as well. We then decided to continue family style and ordered a family platter to experience a variety of entrees including kebabs, shawarma, falafel, rice, french fries and more. Everything was super high quality as Al Ameer does not use MSG or other flavor enhancers. We kept eating although we were full, and still had plenty of leftovers. Serving sizes are quite large! Needless to say, we had no room for dessert! Prices were moderate as well... This place is casual and family-friendly and definitely worth the drive from downtown or where ever you may be coming from! read more

Al-Ameer - Family platter 1 - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

A neighborhood known for amazing Lebanese food? A James Beard award on the wall?! A blazing brick-oven fire baking fresh pita at the entrance? It's the recipe for an incredible meal. We were instantly sat in this casual restaurant and immediately started ordering appetizers for the table. We started with hummus, baba ghanouge (like hummus except with eggplant) and AHH (chopped parsley with tomatoes and lemon juice). They came with bowls of fresh pita for dipping that looked like mini pillows. I piled all on my plate and honestly could've eaten this as my entire meal. It was THAT good. We also ordered roasted baby potatoes and both vegetarian and meat-filled grape leaves (meat were my favorite), as well as the raw kebbie with hashwi (raw meat topped with cooked ground meat and onions). Then, we couldn't decide on entrees, so we opted for the Family Tray #1 (feeds 4-6 people). It came with lamb and steak kabobs, chicken shawarma, falafel, French fries, rice and salad. There wasn't a single food item we ordered that I didn't like. And we tried a LOT. Oh and their juices?! Incredible. They had such a variety of fresh juices and smoothies that it was hard to choose. I went for the Vitality Juice, which was simply carrots, beets and celery. I almost ordered a second one. Their service was incredible, and they were constantly bringing out new dipping sauces for us to enjoy too (the garlic one is delicious). Prices are reasonable for the great quality of food, and I can't wait to go back! Next time I'm saving room for baklava! read more

We stopped in for an early lunch before the Tigers game. We were immediately greeted and taken to our seats. The menu had so many wonderful choices that we took a while to order. The waitress was most understanding as it was our first visit. We finally ordered and our food was excellent. I tried the cucumber and yogurt salad along with hummus and beef and a cup of coffee. Everything was perfect! The restaurant was also very clean and inviting. If you're in the area, stop in! read more

What a gem! There are lots of mediterranean restaurants in Dearborn but Al-Ameer is a shining star among the many contenders. The Chicken Shwarma sandwich was hands down the best I've ever had and the Hummus was thick and delicious. There was a garlic sauce that elevated the whole experience. If you have never tried Mediterranean, this is the place to try it...you can't go wrong. If you are a mediterranean foodie, this will become your next favorite. Highly Recommend. read more

Mary was a great server and the food was delicious! The food came quickly and it was a lovely overall experience!

Visited Dearborn for the first time and ate at the big name places that people always talk about and Al Ameer was one of them. We came here for a late lunch and ordered a few things including stuffed lamb, kabobs, an appetizer combo, and a cheese maneesh. Portion sizes were huge but probably the norm for the region. We ate leftovers for breakfast for the next few days. Stuffed lamb was fantastic and Al-Ameer had our favorite babaganoush of the trip. The hummus was pretty good too. The maneesh was twice the size of a child's head, fresh and warm out of the oven. The grilled meats were ok, a little dry, but I would go back for the stuffed lamb alone. It was delicious. read more

Food is outstanding every time. We prefer to take out, but if you dine in Mary is the waitress you want!

The food was literally the best Mediterranean dishes I've ever had. The falafel was so light and fluffy. The hummus was so DIE FOR. I need it in my life again. read more

Decided to stop into Al-Ameer before heading out to DTW. Located in the heart of Dearborn, this place did NOT disappoint. Upon walking into the restaurant it's very warm and cozy. Although not decorated like other traditional Mediterranean restaurants the decor did not turn me away. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who brought homemade pita bread to the table. I ordered the Kafta with brown rice, salad, and a side of hummus. Although, by the time the food came I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the kabobs. I have to say, really delicious! The hummus tastes exactly the way my grandmother used to make it. I asked for a side of turnips to dip into the hummus. Although they were out, they brought cabbage which was just as good. The staff was great, the location great, and the food EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend trying this place out if your in the mood for some authentic Middle Eastern Cuisine. read more

I had mixed feelings about this place. But I'll start with the positive! I'm very VERY picky with stuffed grape leaves, 9/10 restaurants get them wrong. Al-Ameer's grape leaves are a hit! They taste just like homemade! Their chicken shawarma was also delicious and super cheap! I was shocked that is was $4 for a shwarma! The pita they bring out is super warm and fresh, absolutely delicious to eat on it's own as you wait for your food. The stuffed lamb rice we got however...I wasn't impressed. It was pricey and I've had better tasting lamb and rice. It's one of their specials so I expected better. read more

Was really looking forward to eating here after my friend said it was her new favorite Mediterranean restaurant (we have had a lot of middle eastern food together and know what's up haha). The beef and chicken skewer along with the fattoush were good. The falafel, babaganoush, and pita were fantastic! The ambiance is very classic, clean, and family oriented. I am taking off a star mostly due to how unwelcomed we felt. When entering and leaving the establishment nobody greets you or even smiles, which made us feel a bit awkward. read more

Stopped by here for carry-out on the way to the Ford Drive-In on a Friday evening. It was poppin', no surprise as I'm told this is a really popular location. Portions seemed super generous. I got the almond rice salad and it was almost like a party platter -- no complaints here, easily made two meals. We also had a combo platter. The meat seemed well-seasoned but it was all over-cooked, so the texture was off. Their hummus was good and we enjoyed the generous side of samoon bread that came with the meal. So no big complaints really, but expectations were high given the reputation. We'd probably try it again, maybe when they are less busy and not churning out orders. read more

After living in Michigan for nearly four years, I have heard plenty of times that the best Middle Eastern food in the midwest can be found in Dearborn. I recently gave it a try with some friends who frequent the area. One of their favorite places for food was Al-Ameer; I can easily see why they like it so much. The food and service were phenomenal, and this place is easily one of the best I have ever had for Mediterranean food. Our part went with two orders of the Al-Ameer Platter and a large Boneless Chicken. This was plenty of food for our party of five. The portions were great and more generous than I expected. The shawarma was delicious, and I would say the Boneless Chicken is a must-try. In addition, I would also get a side of their fries as they were a perfect crisp. I had a wonderful experience at Al-Ameer and will definitely be coming back soon. read more

Al Ameer is our go to for Middle Eastern food. We eat here or get to go at least 1-2x a month. The portions are HUGE which allows for plenty of leftovers for a lunch the next day! We try to go here right when they open to enjoy the first pieces of Shawarma of the day. Everything is very well seasoned and tastes authentic. The team is and service are great. Always fast and perfect for a casual meal out. Highly recommend you check it out! read more

Al-Ameer is the most delicious and authentic middle-eastern cuisine you will find in metro Detroit, in my opinion. Every single dish has just a little something extra that the others don't. Their falafel for example - like, have I ever really HAD falafel before? They're so perfectly crispy on the outside and moist and seasoned on the inside - it's hard to order it from anywhere else now. Their homemade bread, hummus, garlic sauce, shawarma, everything is amazing. Make sure you order the herb roasted potatoes! And you know you're in the right place, because when you go in to pick up your order, you're there with all the other Arabic and Chaldean families picking up their Sunday dinners. Excellent service, perfect orders every time. read more

Al-Ameer - Soup, falafel, and chicken! - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

My husband is in love with Al-Ameer. It's his favorite Middle Eastern restaurant to date. I've joined him on two occasions. To me it's a 3.5 stars. It's good overall. But isn't the best to me. And we have others closer to home that I like equally. Tonight I shared the fattoush shawarma salad, the mujadra, and the hummus with my daughter. My husband got the "stuffed" lamb. I'll start with his. He loved the tenderness and flavor of the lamb.y thoughts... it was juicy and tender but also fairly fatty. It was on a mound of rice that was ginormous. Literally enough rice to serve a large family. While he nearly finished the lamb, he barely made a dent in the rice. Continuing with rice... our mujadra. It was loaded with rice, intermixed with the lentils. Personally I'd prefer it not have the blended rice. The top of it was delicious as it was loaded with the onions. This dish was huge too. I wish it was half the size. Next up, the hummus - yum. This was creamy and delicious. The pita they served was thin and not near as fluffy as other places I enjoy. That part was a bummer. Lastly the salad. The dressing was flavorful and the salad crisp. I didn't like the chicken shawarma that they used as it was dry and stringy. But honestly it's impossible for me to love a shawarma as much as I do Bucharest. Same for the garlic sauce -- it's just too hard not to compare. Rounding to a 4 star since my husband loves this place. read more

The Al Ameer platter was delicious! We savored the meat variety, flavorful and tender! The fattoush salad was savory: the pita chips were crunchy; I loved it! AMAZINIG! Some of the best and most authentic Mediterranean cuisine we have ever had. The menu has a great variety of options for carnivores and vegitarians alike. The service was quick - we were quickly sat and had our order taken. The food arrived within in 10- 15 mins. We ordered a variety of items - the chicken and lamb shwarma combo plate with rice and fattoush salad (split salad & rice between 2ppl) and the Appetizer combo (treated it like a enteee) which has 4 Falafel, 4 vegetable grape leaves, hummus, and baba ghanouge and comes with lots of freah pita. This was more than enough food, and about half was leftovers. You need to go, its delicious!!! read more

These might be the most perfectly textured felefels that I've ever eaten. We enjoyed the four included on the appetiser plate so much that we were compelled to order a whole second plate. For vegetarians, we ordered the mujaddara, which was garnished with incredible fried crispy onions that complemented the khichadi-like texture of the rest of the dish. Only dish I might skip in the future was the vegetarian tomato kibbeh, which felt like a(n only slightly) glorified plate of raw tomatoes. read more

This was a welcome discovery, I came here with some friends as one them recommended this place. The place looked nice and spacious and very nice atmosphere, clean and inviting as the smell of the food invited you in. As we were waiting for the hostess/waitress to seat us, a masked customer was leaving after picking up an order. She looked at my friend as if he had the plague and asked him to move so she could get by. As she went past us, the hostess said, "That was rude, she shouldn't have said that. Why did she say that?" and to make up for that rude customer, the hostess/waitress was very kind and accommodating to us. The food here is pretty spot on for high quality Mediterranean food, I got to try the spicy potatoes, moujadara and fried cauliflower and egg plant. The flavor, quality and portion was very good and I would love to try other things on the menu, but from what I had it was very pleasing to the taste, presentation was nice, the customer service was good and I'd be willing to try this place again to see what else they have to offer, but liking what I tried so far. read more

When heading home after arriving atDetrout Metro Airport - or after dropping a friend or family member at the airport - we are always glad for the excuse (not that one is needed) to explore one of our metro area's many good Middle Eastern dining establishments. Glad to report that we found a very fine example of this type of restaurant in Al-Ameer. Modest atmosphere, simple fare, yet well-prepared, with attentive service. Prices were reasonable, making for a successful dining experience. Though the range of choices for this cuisine is vast, Al-Ameer is worth a visit. read more
