This was a great find for us! The food was delicious and the service was amazing. Our waitress was very efficient and right there when we needed things. Very yummy yummy! Glad we went and can't wait to go back- read more

Their portions are huge so come here hungry. They have all their standard middle eastern food that is cooked very well but some of the stand out dishes are the babaganush, very smoky and well made, and their lamp kabobs. Some of our contractors buy us a few plates full and drop off at the office and everyone stops what they are doing to grab a plate. If you are hosting a party I would recommend getting a variety of things from this place and just let people go to town. read more

Incredible food, my absolute favorite middle eastern In Detroit area, maybe anywhere! The platter for two is incredible and could easily feed 3+. Food is always cooked to order and absolutely top quality meats/veggies. Hardest part is to choose - everything is great! read more

I recently took my visiting family from Scotland to Al-Ameer for the best food in the area. With a party of 8 persons, we knew the Family platter was the way to go. Mostafa really hooked us up. Great plan. Shwarma, grapeleaves, kafta, kebabs, bread, salads, and more. He patiently explained middle eastern food to the tourists, kept us supplied with bread and garlic. And, in what seemed like a flash, the food was devoured. My husband really like the new decor, while I do miss some of the decor that would make you feel as if you were at a friend's house. read more

Visited this authentic Middle Eastern gem a few days ago. I ordered a medium Chicken Shawarma Fatoush Salad (My fave). It was amaaazing! My friend ordered the Tabouli Salad, which she said was great as well. Upon sitting down, we were immediately served with pickled cabbage. This was a nice surprise...I have never had pickled cabbage or been offered it at any other Middle Eastern restaurant I've frequented. It was delish. We were also given a basket of warm bread that we gobbled up with garlic sauce. Food came out super fast and our waiter was friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to go back and order something else:) read more

Al-Ameer - Chicken Shawarma Fatoush Salad - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

Good food, terrible customer service. Ordered the sampler appetizer and the combo platter. Also ordered drinks which never arrived.

Excellent service, great food, comfy booths. My partner has been trying to get me to go here for a long time. I've just never been a big fan of Middle Eastern cuisine (at least the kind that typically predominates the ME restaurants and diners around Detroit), and I never crave the flavors. because we had out-of-town guests this weekend who wanted to try some of the famed ME food in Dearborn, I went along with the idea. I can only say that I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps the biggest difference was not ordering a giant pile of skewered meats, but letting the vegetarian impulses among us lead the way. We ordered a plate of the baba gannoush, the labneh (like a yogurt or cream based dip served with olives), something called "foul" (yes, we also made the jokes, but it tasted anything but... a delicious and warm chick-pea mash with a ton of flavor), and the fattoush salad. The food was incredibly tasty. I'm overwhelmed. And the pita bread that came out was hot and actually inflated like little bread-balloons, which added to the fun of eating them. I wouldn't want to eat this kind of meal too often, as it was filling but "light" - essentially just bread and a lot of dips, but it was still a great spread of different flavors and textures, and actually facilitated conversation better than a fork-n-knife dinner normally would. Sharing breads and dips just seems more lively and communal. I shouldn't forget to mention the really awesome and friendly server, as well as the giant and plush-cushioned booths you get to sit in. I'm ready to return for more. read more

Dearborn, MI has one of the largest Arab communities outside the Middle East, so it's no wonder that there are a ton of great Middle Eastern restaurants here. Al-Ameer is no exception. The majority of its diners are Middle Eastern, so you know it's legit. The menu is expansive - full of appetizers, entrees, salads, fresh raw juices, sandwiches, all the typical traditional dishes. My favorite Middle Eastern dish is falafel, so of course I had to order that. They were delicious! My SO and I ordered the appetizer combo which includes 4 falafel, 4 vegetarian grape leaves, hummus, and baba ghanoush. We should've ordered the falafel plate as an entree because 4 definitely wasn't enough! The other items in the sampler dish were excellent as well. We also ordered a small shawarma salad with chicken which had great flavor. I wish they had served it on a bigger plate though because the contents were basically spilling over the edge which made it difficult to eat. It's a large restaurant, so we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. The food came out within literally 5 minutes which was surprising because there were lots of other diners. Our waiter was very friendly and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

Al-Ameer is everything you want in an Arabic restaurant. The ambiance and decor are great, the great smells of cooking meats fill the air, and there's even pictures of random countrysides on the menu! We came here for a super early lunch around 10:30, and were pleasantly surprised that they were open. We got a chicken and a meat shawarma sandwich, and shared a gigantic order of hummus. Everything was outstanding, with their coal fired pitas dipped in hummus stealing the show. The best part was definitely the prices though. Something in the realm of $3.50 was the highest a sandwich cost. They have a full menu of dinners in the range of $9-11, which is still pretty fair. But I'd go with the sandwiches, maybe get two if you're hungry! read more

Bland Lebanese food. Definately not the best in Dearborn. Very expensive mediocre food. The chef either doesnt care, doesnt taste and/or is cutting unnecessary corners. Also...the table was wet when they seated us. Not cool. Dont eat here. Better reasturants are in town. They are just milking thier customers. read more

This is a great Lebanese resturant (and I'm stunned it hasn't been reviewed yet!). I think it's miles above the La Shish chain as well as a lot of the other local small Lebanese restaurants I've eaten at in Dearborn -- the food is fresher, the prices are reasonable, the waitstaff is more accommodating and friendly (one of the waitresses loaned her cell phone to my mom once when my mom was waiting for some people to arrive) and the clientele is mostly from the area (Dearborn that is, not necessarily Lebanon ;)). They've expanded into a second location somewhere west of Dearborn, but I'm not sure where or how the resturant compares to the original. If I ever feel like going out for a Lebanese dinner or taking out-of-town friends out for an evening of getting-to-know-Dearborn, this is where I usually go. It doesn't hurt that I live about three blocks away either :) read more

For starters, if you're an Arab or enjoy Arab food, Warren Avenue is the place to be!!! I went there in a big group, and almost everyone ordered different things on the menu. So, I got to sample a few things in my one visit. I got Chicken Shawarma and got to try Ghallaba, Kababs, lamp chops with the appetizers of course, Hummus, Tabbouleh etc. I thought everything was good. BUT, La Shish, IMHO, is the undisputed leader here. Very friendly staff. read more

Best Middle Eastern food in Dearborn, and probably the best I will have until I find myself camel ridden. I have practically been raised on M.E. food as their is an abundance of the population and their amazing food all around the Metro Detroit Area. This is the best of the lot and well worth a special trip to the little D. Things to get? Appetizer combo of Hommous or Baba Ghanouge Tabbouleh Shawarma Any of the Kaftas P.S. load up on all pickled items Don't waste your time at your local M.E. eatery that is operated by a bunch of white guys, get in your car and drive down to Dearborn for your fixes in all things delicious and arguably pronouncable Tabbouleh and grape leaves for life Gabriel read more

The food overall was delicious! Although the falafel was a bit cold, it was one of my favorite things we ate. We also ordered hummus, grape leaves (meat and veggie), fattoush, cucumber yogurt salad, chicken kofta and lamb & beef shawarma. Everything was really great, although the the cucumber yogurt and shawarma were both especially delicious. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the garlic sauce, it wasn't particularly garlicky or even taste like another other than tahini. read more

Best food I have had in Michigan for sure. The place is pretty no frills. Looks like a middle eastern dinner, so being from Jersey I was cool with that. It being Ramadan the place was pretty empty at about noon. I was also o.k. with that. Our waitress, Mary, was great. She really made us feel like we come there every week even though it was our first time. She was very friendly, helpful and attentive. That makes a big difference sometimes, although the food is so good here it really doesn't matter. They have awesome drinks. I had some sort of Mango concoction. It was great. My ladyfriend had a lemon drink, also really good, sort of like an orangejulious. We had a Greek salad which was excellent, I normally get fahtous salads but I wanted some cheese. Their cheese was great and probably made there or within about 100 ft. because it tasted fresh. We also saw them pulling the pita which eventually came to our table with the salad right out of the oven. That was nice. We also got a Kafta Kabob and some yogurt. Everything was great. O, I forgot about my chicken soup. Very fresh, homemade and tasty. Check it out. RrL read more

Sat 4:30pm and the restaurant was at least half full! Amazing raw fruit drinks with honey, and true Lebanese food. I was told to come here by my friend and it did not disappoint! Baba ganoush was smoky, homemade pita so fluffy and crispy, falafels/kibbe were devoured before I remembered to take a picture, hummus was silky smooth. Note to self: get a bunch of the ka'ak to bring home next time! read more

Perfection. Perfect service and food in a nice casual restaurant. We usually have an entree but this time tried their sandwiches and salad. Very flavorful and the sandwich didn't get soggy ! I really appreciate that their food is not over salted. Everything tastes fresh and the flavors are clean. They offer many vegetarian dishes. The garlic sauce, pita and grape leaves are the best anywhere. The only downside to this wonderful place is the parking. The lot is tight and needs to be repaved. Add very agressive drivers and you might find yourself in a pickle! Everyone should give this restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I went for lunch with my friend. As I need to get back to work, I didn't paid much attention to the options in the menu. Ordered chicken shawarma for me and my friend ordered sandwich. Entree comes with side. Portion is good. Pita bread was provided. It was good. Place was less crowded may be because of Ramzan month. Otherwise it should be busy. Service was slow and it took some time to get the order. Definitely a nice place and will be back to try other options read more

This restaurant never disappoints. Wear your jeans as this is a very casual atmosphere. The food is always perfection in Arabic cuisine. Authentic Lebanese food that is made with love. OK now I want to go again for dinner. read more

Best Arabic resturant in Dearborn, and that's saying something considering how many Arabic restaurants are in Dearborn. This place used to be really good back in the day, massive decline in the quality of food. Meat was dry and stale. Disappointed.

The dressing for the fattoush salad was INCREDIBLE! I kept raving about it and they were kind enough to give me some to go :)

Food was good but I thought the flavor wasn't as good as Sheeba's. Nice seating area and the service was good. The one thing my kids liked is the chicken and rice soup that came with the meal. read more

Al Amir picked up where La Shish left off. They'e food and service is superior. Never a bad meal. Service is always solid. Bread is baked fresh at all hours of operation so its always hot out of the oven. The Labneh and Baba are delicious. Try the pickled turnips or the Shish Kafta. Al-Ameer - Awesome food and great service! Thanks to Diana and to Khalil! Amazing - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

My brother and I went here after reading tons of reviews and hearing about it from Middle Eastern friends. Although I am not Middle Eastern, it is one of my go-to cuisines and I have eaten at several such restaurants across the country. The food was definitely not what I expected. The warm fresh pita bread was the best part with hummus that was perfectly flavored. However, it went downhill from there. The appetizer sampler was ok- good grape leaves, really good Tabbouleh. There was no Baba Ghanoush like the menu said there would be. The pickled beets were terrible even though I usually like them. Then we got the chicken combo for two. The skewered chickens were good. The rest were totally dry pieces of meat and no flavors. I couldn't even tell what they were supposed to be. I agree with the reviewer that said that the garlic sauce is like a ranch dressing- not in a good way. The service was good, and the atmosphere is decent. Maybe I was expecting a lot because it is in the largest Arab town of the USA but I probably will not come again just because I know of better Middle Eastern food - like Green Cedar in Livonia. read more

Eight of us ate here over Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful meal. Almost everyone had a different dish and we shared . . . everything was wonderful, really! I know i sound like a relative. Everything seemed to be freshly prepared and plates were nicely presnted. We had quite the feast with appetizers, salads, vegetarian, lamb, beef, and chicken dishes. The lady who served us was wonderful and attentive. We got there about 2:30 on a Saturday, i was a little surprised how busy they were, must be nuts around six. This was not cheap, but a very good value. read more

The BEST food ever! I grew up in the Detroit area and Al Ameer has spoiled me for Middle Eastern food for the rest of my life. Every time we are in the area we try to eat here. Food is fantastic. Service was pretty bad. The waiter at the table next to us was amazing but ours was pretty blasé. I've had a similar experience before here. Wish we would have had the other guy (super tall dude) as our waiter, I could tell he was walking some Lebanese food noobs through their first experience with patience and was going the extra mile. Our guy with glasses was nowhere to be found and wasn't nearly as attentive as the tall dude. Plus there were a bunch of morons playing music VERY FUCKING LOUD on their cell phones, and screaming kids in there, which is not what you want for a night out. read more

The food is still wonderful, however, the amount they are charging is ridiculous. They charged us $31 for a 2 person platter only to find out that they did not include the 2 pieces of falalfel, 2 fried kibbee, and 2 grape leaves... that's 6 items! They added an extra skewer of kafta (cheapest meat to buy/prepare). I called them, they were nice, and said they made changes to their menu and removed these items but only to charge the same as they did when the they had these items.... crooked! I mean, I ate the food anyways since I was at home and starving... but they should update their menus online. It's just weird that their sister location in Dearborn Hts was still included these items as of 4 weeks ago. (Reference the empty spot in the platter) read more

This is probably my favorite middle eastern restaurant in the Detroit metro-plex! This place took me back to Lebanon. Fresh, high quality food, prepared beautifully. Shay at Paradise City suggested Al-Meer, she said around here, this is the place to go. The service was so friendly and unbelievably fast. I was ordering take-out, we had a medium chicken fattoush salad, and lamb shawarma sandwich, humus and the freshest pita bread ever. Everything was amazing, fresh veggies, the chicken was grilled, tender and moist! The humus was super delicious make sure to order it. My sandwich was just delicious the meat was tasty, full of flavor! Al-Meer is the only restaurant in Michigan with the James Beard award 2016! This restaurant is top-notch!
