The food here is easily some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had in a restaurant (I grew up spoiled by my moms cooking). We had Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Kibbeh and stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer. All of which were very good. I was so happy that the grape leaves were actually warm and a little sour! For the entrees I ordered the Shawarma and Chicken plate with rice and tabbouleh while my husband ordered the BBQ wings and fries. The Tabbouleh was SOUR but I LOOOOVE that! Everytime I eat Tabbouleh at a restaurant its always so dull, this one actually tasted like my moms. The shawarma and chicken was seasoned great. My only complaint was that the beef/lamb shawarma was very fatty. Some pieces were so chewy I couldn't chew it up. Besides that it was good. My husband liked his wings a lot. The fries tasted and looked kind of like McDonalds fries but with less salt. I also got the energizer drink which was good but didn't have the flavor I was expecting (wasn't all that flavorful). Also the service was a bit slow. In the end though, this easily is one of favorite places now, too bad I can't have it often since I don't live in Dearborn. Make sure you check it out :) read more

My first Lebanese cuisine experience was here at Al-Ameer. Everything I tried was tasty and flavorful. I really enjoyed the falafel, baba ganoush and the grilled meat skewers. You can tell fresh ingredients were use in the preparation of these dishes. I will deferent go back and try more dishes on their menu. read more

Best food around. Middle eastern or whatever. Quality, quantity, flavor... this is one of my new favorites. Wish I lived a little closer.

Tried the schwarma sandwich and the chicken schwarma sandwich and both were very good. It didn't blow me away but the flavor was very nice. Love the cheap prices. read more

Al-Ameer - Half eaten schwarma and chicken schwarma. Sorry - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

The quest for the best Middle Eastern continues: Not going to go into too much detail on this one. Just want to say this is middle of the road Middle Eastern for Dearborn. Here's a quick skinny: Pros- Portion size service (quite friendly) Cons- Parking is somewhat odd (considering their location, and which direction you're Al-Ameer combo for two- no choice of salad or soup, just salad (for real) Food- just ok. shwarma was a bit sour to me. My friend was not overwhelmed with their vegetarian options, but again, just ok. OVERALL- not great, just good read more

We had a big party for lunch, 17 people and there were no problems to get a reservation in just a couple of days ahead of the event. The menu was a little confusing, they initially only gave out the dinner menu but the lunch menu was eventually also shown. I ended up getting their chicken shwarma with the $1 upgrade to the tabouli salad instead of a regular salad. It was well worth it, the tabouli salad was REALLY good. Lot's of great flavor and fresh ingredients. The chicken was juicy and had really good flavor. The rice was also good. The service was great, even more so when we had such a large group. This a place you definitely should try. read more

On the menu, there's a list of vegetarian options! Had the falafel, spicy potatoes and hummus with their pita bread. The pita bread is awesome! It's made right in house and can be bought to take home. Falafel was good. Potatoes were good, but should be more of a side dish than actual meal. Service - waitress was helpful; however, we ordered a drink & she forgot to bring it... but still charged us for it. Other than that... good ambiance & food. read more

I wish the service matched the food. We have heard great things about this place and was looking forward to finding another Arabic food gem to add to my bookmarks. I placed the order and he was so helpful felt like he cared about our experience. My husband picked up the food, he did not wait long which we appreciated. He mentioned they were nice when he was there but it was a little busy so he was not able to check the order but they assured us everything was there. It looked good when I was plating it but certain items looked a little haphazard. Maybe it was an off day, I really want to like this place. Good note the hummus was quite tasty, wish I ordered a large. read more

Very good food. Fresh food! Good device. Clean restaurant. Bathrooms are clean. Decor is pleasant and fresh. Salads are incredible! Fatoush is a wow. Hummus is outstanding! The rice is freshly made. Debone chicken is a five star! Meats are to die for. Great food! Good service! read more

So Al Ameer was my first Arab dining experience in Dearborn. Years of living in metro Detroit, I had never before really visited Dearborn (aside from a friend's house). So when a few of us from work wanted to take a tour of Dearborn and have some good food, we went to Al Ameer. First off, the inside is very large, so even though we went during lunch, and there were several other parties dining, there was no wait. Second, not only is the menu extensive, but also the lunch specials menu is extensive. Finally, the food is really good. So when you order, they bring you the really good, warm, fresh baked bread. They also bring you some banana peppers and pickled(??) cauliflower. Most of the food then comes with soup or salad, so that comes out to you fast. Then you get your meal. I ordered the shrimp kabob, with salad and hummus. You can choose rice, fries, or hummus. I LOVE that you can choose hummus. They give you all the bread you want for free, so for me it was a no brainer. Hummus is something I would've wanted to get extra if it didn't come with my meal. The other people I was with got the lamb shwarma salad, some sort of chicken stew dish (with lentil soup, not salad, which he adored), and the tabbouli, grape leaves, and hummus appetizer. And while we all ordered completely different items, every one of us loved our food. read more

What can I say about this place that already hasn't been said? My first time here yesterday with my mom as we came over from Windsor to do a little bit of shopping and have lunch here. My mom has been several times with family she has over here, so she decided to take me, and I'm so happy she did. We arrived there during the lunch rush and were seated almost immediately at a table and were given the menu and lunch menu. My mom already knew what she wanted, so I browsed the lunch menu and ordered the chicken schwarma with hummus, and it came with the Lebanese salad. While we were waiting for our food, small pita bread with garlic dip was out on the table for us to snack on. It was absolutely delicious and the pita bread was fresh, probably made minutes before it reached our table. Our waiter was kind and on top of everything, and our food came out super quick as well, everything looked amazing and presentation was amazing, The hummus was creamy and smooth and had so much flavour, as well as the chicken schwarma was moist and the blend of the perfect spices. Putting it all together with the added lettuce and pickled radish on my plate, one of the best schwarma I've had ever. My mom had a Fattoush salad with added grilled chicken and feta cheese. I got a taste of it and it was delicious! We added for take out the raw Kibbeh, which you can't get over in Canada anymore, and tabbouleh. The kibbeh was delicious, and just as I remembered it growing up. This restaurant is in the heart of Dearborn, which has one of the largest Middle Eastern population in all of the US, makes sense as to why Windsor has a huge Middle Eastern population as well, always a great place to come and get some good food. read more

I wasnt impressed Pros bread was hot and fresh Hummus was great Cons Other then that beef shwarma had more inedible large pieces of fat then I would expect or have seen with any beef shwarma. If I ate pieces of fat that size it would turn my stomach. Chicken shwarma plain Chicken tawook good Kibbeh fried meat thing was maybe my favorite item on the platter for two. Won't be returning read more

It's a hit or miss with this place, sometimes the food is fresh and savory and sometimes it's just dry. I frequently dine in at al Ameer and recommend it to all my non Arab friends for authentic middle eastern food. I definitely recommend this place. Give it a try!! read more

Their menu became too basic I wish they upgrade it and add more to it. But their boneless chicken with sauce is a must try along with the fresh bread they make. Their better when not crowded other than that the last time we went the waitress took forever to come and get the missing stuff, by the time she got them we got too full from what was on the table. Some staff are welcoming and some not really, it's a hit and miss. But been here back and forth it's one of my kids fav place. read more

Al-Ameer - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

"Middle Eastern" food. It wasn't you, it was me. Or rather, I have been eating at all the wrong places my whole life! I'm very sorry! Yesterday I made my first trip to Dearborn, and a friend brought me to Al-Ameer and warned me, "You're not going to want to eat Middle Eastern food anywhere else after this, especially not in Columbus! (our hometown)". The first thing that caught my eye was the selection of fresh juices, a rare bird in the midwest of the USA, which were quite good. For an appetizer we ordered labneh, which was super garlicky, thick, and delicious. The pita was also very good. For the meal, I ordered shwarma which came with a big salad and the choice of rice, hummus, or fries. I chose the hummus. The shwarma was so tasty, so well seasoned, so well cooked. Not dry and bland like so many I've tried before. It was a lot of food for $16, well worth it. The service was a little off, and we were definitely being rushed even though the restaurant was nowhere near full. But I tend to not care too much about such things, especially when the food is this good. read more

This was one of the most delicious restaurants I've been to in a long time. Both I and my husband had our world is rocked by the delicious flavors. We also had one of the best waitstaff I've experienced in recent memory, Diana. She became our consultant for the very best of the restaurant and we ended up having such an amazing experience. The baba ghanoush is smoked and the flavor is delectable. Some of the best hummus I have had as well as tabouli. The sujuk appetizer was to die for. But the crowning jewel was the incredible where I am that I've been cooked for two days on top of brown rice. We also loved the lemon chicken. We're certain to make this restaurant to stop every single time we visit family in Detroit. The food was so good for lunch, and we were so full that we skipped dinner, and we're still feel the next day at breakfast! Diana also recommended we visit a local bakery Shatila for Knafeh, a tasty cheese dessert. We took it to go on the plane (we were on the way to the airport). and couldn't wait to get home to heat it up! read more

This was originally a 5 star review but since our last 2 visits I have to change it. They changed the menu where the family platters aren't very "family" anymore. Less food. Same price. But that's not my main reason for a low rating. Quality also dropped significantly. The meat kebab was really dry and burned, the kafta was quite tasteless and over cooked as well, in addition it was quite burned. Once a favorite of my kids, this time around they couldn't eat any of it: whatever wasn't charred it was really dry. We won't be going back since whatever changes they made dropped their quality really low read more

The flavor of everything is fantastic! The portion is really generous. We ordered the al-ameer maza (sampler for two) and it was so delicious and there were so much food that we couldn't even eat half of our actual entrees! Our waiter was also very friendly and our food was brought out super fast. Overall, this place is really great if you're craving some good middle eastern food! I highly recommend :) read more

Al-Ameer - Middle Eastern Near Me - Dearborn, Michigan

I have now been to Al-Ameer a number of times that approaches triple digits since I got to Detroit. I blame the lunch shawarmas. You can call ahead or not, depending on how much of a rush you're in, because either way it will only take 5-10 minutes. They're wrapped up well enough to eat while driving, although spills can happen so don't do that while wearing anything nice and then blame me... But then, it's not just the lunch shawarmas. When anyone comes in to town I take them here and 4 of us can smash the Al Ameer platter for two and still have leftovers... But it's not just that everything on the platter is perfect, from the shish tawook to the shish kofta to the falafel to the world's most beautiful hummus. It's that the mambo mango smoothie is always made seconds before you get there and it like drinking what I'd imagine the nectar of the gods is... But then, it's not just the platter, it's the fact that even when you sit down, they get everything to you in ten minutes or less, and if they don't, it's accompanied by profuse apologies. The place is clean, nice, open, and everything about it is solid. read more
