I've gone to them for oil changes as well as some other stuff. FYI oil changes are a little pricier than your in/out 19.95 spots. But I've gone there to get a small part replaced based on what my code reader told me and Darryl put it in in about 10 minutes and didnt charge me too much for a simple job. Went in again so they could investigate a mysterious hum that I" though was a belt related ie tensioner, pulley, bearings, or belt itself. Darryl could find anything related to those items but did notice my power steering was low. So he filled it and told me to drive it around and see if that helped, no charge. Cool. Still made the noise so I went back with a new hypothesis wheel bearings since I noticed the hum only after going 15+ MPH. Took a few days for parts but was completed and runs excellent, super quiet again. read more

I believe it was the owner who told me to go home and start the car the next day and drive it around for about an hour and bring it back. Ak, Darryl and Jack What can I say, these guys have had so much experience under the hood they could fix anything that rolled up in front of them. From my first memories up at Jacks house playing with the slot machine down to playing around with my brother in the old cars that Ak had on the lot while he and my dad shot the shit. When Ak died a few years ago the world lost a great resource for race motors and cars. He was lucky enough to place multiple times up at Bonneville and I'm glad to say my dad got to work on some of those same cars. I could go on and on about Jack and Darryl's mechanical skills but just know that if you've got either one of them under the hood, you're car will run it's best. Took my truck in the other day for some emergency repairs. The guys were great, didn't gauge me with high labor costs and explained what the problem was in detail. I feel comfortable coming back as my experience wasn't bad. They've been in the area for years so that's a plus, yo know they're not going anywhere. Last week my 2003 Impala died on the fwy & I had it towed to AK Miller and spoke to Rick. I needed a fuel pump (located in the fuel tank) and a fuel filter. Darrell (tech) replaced both items in little time, sooner than I was ready to pick up the car. In addition; since my first experience was good and the price honest I returned yesterday. So I went down to AK Miller garage because my engine was stuttering but the mechanic is not there. They tell me to come back at 10, and when I get there the mechanic is still not there and I'm told I should leave my car and they'll figure out what's wrong with it and give me a call, fair enough. A few hours later, Rick gives me a call saying it's nothing serious and they can clean up the throttle body and change my spark plugs and wires while they're at it. They told me the total cost would be $248 and that it would be ready to pick up at 4. I head down there right after work around 4:20 and the cars not ready because all of a sudden one of the cylinders is misfiring and they need to replace the ignition coil which is going to cost another $100 which I never agreed to (they already ordered the part). So I have no choice but to pay the extra hundred. I figure if it gets the engine to stop stuttering I'll gladly pay it. I take the car home and don't drive the rest of the day. Next day the engine is still stuttering and struggling. I'd take it back but if they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it the first time they probably won't figure it out the second time. The alternator in my 2000 Sienna had died. I am a hard-core DIY type, and I was going to replace the alternator the following weekend. I carried my battery charger with me, and I was able to get by while driving locally in Ventura County, recharging the battery when I could. I needed to go to Pico Rivera to pick up a replacement part for a client's copier. After the pick up, I just KNEW that I had insufficient battery capacity to return home.
