The volume of inventory is good. Prices are a bit high. I have purchased many guns and accessories from them. The staff is extremely rude and pompous. I have asked others about their experiences with AJI and I have gotten the exact response prior to letting them know my opinion. I will not be going back. I have found True Guns in Apache Junction. I was looking for a Christmas gift. I called AJI and they seemed like it was a hassle to even answer the phone. I asked if they had the gun I was looking for, His exact words or should I say word was, no and hung up. They did not offer to order it. They basically just hung up on me. This store runs hot and cold in terms of customer service and employee attitude. It takes a lot for me to get butthurt by some arrogant counter guy so at the end of the day it doesn't bother me much. I mostly have used them for transfers over the past 8 years but, I always ask if they have the firearm I want and/or will they match the price. The only reason I did not give the 4th star was during a recient transfer of a very expensive over/under shotgun they presented me with the leather and canvas case but NOT the box it was shipped in. The box that many high end shotguns are shipped in are of a unique size and shape so they are needed should you need to ship the firearm back for warranty work.....Long story short, they would not give me the box, however they would SELL me the box. I paid for the shipping of the shogtun which includes the weight of the box. Basically, they ripped me off on the box. So, after many years of purchasing items from them, alas, I will take my business elseware. read more

They have a decent selection, but a lot of the guns are old and crappy. If you are looking for used guns, it may be a good place for you. So I've been going to AJI for about 3 years, they have a good selection of guns and ammo and for the most part have alright customer service. Except for if you call in, I have several times been treated like I was a annoying customer calling in to ask a question before I even said anything. The first thing I heard was "can I help you" in a very loud tone. I asked the guy is this Is this was the gun shop in Apache junction he said yes in a very rude tone. Apache junction is a town and we are AJI. So first of all he didn't have to be unprofessional when he answered my question and could have had a better tone of voice. It's very hit and miss when I go into AJI. I am a fairly loyal customer, because I usually deal with Jeff, Taylor or Josh directly when I'm in their and they are all pretty knowledgeable and outgoing. However, the remaining staff are quite uneducated regarding firearms and their customer service skills are minimal, at best. This is NOT a gun shop for the novice or beginner. If you don't know what you're looking for or what you're doing, go elsewhere. If you are an experienced carrier, user, LE, etc... I would definitely recommend AJI! read more

So I thought I would give AJI a try, since I haven't been there in probably 3 years. I saw (surprisingly) a few good reviews of them here so figured it was worth a shot to stop by and check for ammo. The place has had a minor interior face lift, but is the same old good old boy hang out. It seriously reminds me of just a bunch if guys who would probably be there hanging out BSing anyways so they gave them a job. No one greets or even acknowledges you at all, and I mean zero. Had what appeared to be 1 customer and about 3 employees, customer appeared to be a regular as they were all just hanging out and just talking, 1 was on a laptop obviously busy as he didn't even look my way when I was 4 feet from him trying to spot ammo. I finally asked him about what I was after, do you have any ___? - nope. I just said thanks and left. The ammo they did have was WAY over priced however it wasn't what I was looking for. So I agree with above as that they aren't rude, but friendly or professional doesn't come to mind either. I stopped going there 3 year ago bc I always felt as though I was bugging them to see something, even though I had bought several guns there in the past. I said then I wouldn't go back as I would rather spend my hard earned money with someone who appreciates it than someone who is too busy, I wish I hadn't stopped in today. I went to AJI again this afternoon to give another chance after reading the (flagged) reply from the owner of AJI. It was quite a different experience than the previous times I was there. While looking over some tactical stocks and foregrips or my Remington 870 I was greeted by two separate employees who offered info on the two stocks I was looking at. When I asked them how difficult they were to install they informed me that the gunsmith in the store would install them for me free with the purchase if I have the shotgun with me. Sadly, I did not, but I will be going back tomorrow with the shotgun to take them up on the offer. I hope that they will make good on the word, I would love to do business closer to home. read more

I really don't know what people are expecting when they go to a gun shop. I don't expect the salespeople to perform back flips and throw confetti when I walk through the store, but apparently that's what other reviewers are expecting. When I went in I got a greeting, there were several other customers there who were being served, but a salesperson came right over. I asked her about lower receivers, she showed me what they had (a few different brands, different levels of quality), and got one out so I could look at it and even allowed me to semi attach it to my upper to compare color. I asked if they had complete lowers, and she referred me to the gunsmith that is co-located with the store, and I went there to see what they could do for me. When I came back from the gunsmith (he'd agreed to complete the lower I was going to buy from AJI), I walked back into AJI, went back to the lower receiver area, and all I had to do was look up at the salesperson who'd helped me before and she came right back over. I didn't have to ask for help, I didn't have to interrupt anyone's conversation; I just looked in her direction and she came right over. I only bought a stripped lower, I didn't spend much money, but they were very prompt and professional. I don't know these people, and I don't look like a "gun guy" (I wasn't wearing 5.11 pants and tactical earrings or anything), yet I was attended to in a very prompt, professional and courteous manner. I have been to AJ I sporting-goods a few times now. The first time I had a decent experience, although they definitely need a few more employees as the store is always packed and there is only a few. I just called him to ask a few questions about some ammo, I also asked if the gunsmith was open. He said he is not sure. I asked him if he could please go and look. He said no because he is on the whole other side of the store. He also asked if I was coming there to buy ammo. I said yes but I also needed to bring a weapon into the gunsmith as well. He then responded well he is not sure but sometimes he is here on Sundays but he is on the other side of the store with boxes around him so he cannot go and check for me. Are you kidding me? You would not get off your lazy Bum and go in check and see if your gunsmith was there? I am definitely not going to the store ever again. I will take all of my shopping elsewhere I cannot believe you would not be willing to go and check to see if your gunsmith was there. I cannot believe the horrible customer service. read more

I will never go back to this shop again. I purchased a knife and when i got home i went to change the belt clip from left handed to right handed and found out this knife had been used. The screw holes for the right hand side clip mount were stripped. I immediately called them and someone there said bring it back. I returned the next day and was greeted with disgust and told to make sure the new knife was in perfect shape before i left the store. I asked the (big guy) if he could check it buy putting the screws in and he said he doesn't have the tools to check it. I REPEAT I WILL NEVER GO IN THERE AGAIN. They lost a customer over a $60.00 knife which probably cost them $15.00. Very dumb move on their part. read more

Ripoff gouger pricing and you have to flag somebody down like a taxi get some help. They have an extensive inventory, but after my experiences there I would rather order things online, wait a week and deal with UPS. I've been to almost every gun store in and around the phoenix area and hands down AJI is the best of the best. The selection is outstanding and the prices are more than fair. I really tested their patients with a bombardment of questions and clearly spending more time then needed on a particular item but they kept answering questions with a smile! Hats off to you guys! Finally a store run by NICE professionals. I even asked very basic questions, some deliberately dumb just to see what kind of response I'd get and without missing a beat they would answer it with complete professionalism. I Bought one 22 pistol (used) there and after two 10 round clips, not one round through the chamber. It jammed every round. Well I've been going here for over 5yrs now and have bought 3-pistols and 2-Rifles all brand new. The entire staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about what products to sell. I wanted to say as I was leaving I over heard a father and son talking and the father wasn't very knowledgeable about guns as he was telling his son he never grew up around them and none of his friends parents or his own ever discussed guns and what was talked about is that they didn't think people needed guns. He went on to say to his son that that will learn together and he was very surprised that he knew that much about so many guns from playing Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms. I told them I'm sorry but I heard your conversation and my son who is now 21 knew so much about guns and a lot of different models and the 1st he did like he went on the internet to study them and learned all about the mechanics of the tool. They were excited to talk to me and went on to mention that they really enjoyed coming to AJI and that everyone they talked to in the store was super friendly and was more then helpful when answering all there questions and they told me that usually when they go out to other gun stores that the employees make them feel like they are in the wrong place and that they are asking questions that everyone should know. I said well I come here quite a lot to day dream about my next purchase or just to look and that Jeff and all his employees make you feel like you have been friends for a long time. They love showing you whatever you want to look at and so much more, plus they will go out of there way to find you what you want or need. They welcome everyone Men, Women, sons & daughters, And everything else people identify as, they will teach you whatever you need to know and answer all your questions. It wasn't a bad store however when comparing their service to others (like Gun Depot) it is night and day... it took me forever to be acknowledged!!! Yes - they were busy.... but when you are standing at the counter in line and people just walking in get acknowledged before you... pretty much rude. I bought 2 Ruger BX-25 magazines. That night, I realized one was having major feeding issues. I called the next day and first asked if anymore were in stock. The man who answered the phone, (probably the guy who is ALWAYS sitting down next to a computer by the counter and acts like he is always be to busy to be bothered) anyways he told me they were out of stock. When I told him there were six left the day prior he then said he would go look. At that point he said he had two there. I then told him about the issue with the magazine I purchased. A $40.00 magazine by the way. I then asked him If I could do a straight out exchange for one of the others. I even explained that I had the reciept. He then told me "It is probably Rugers problem". I convinced him to hold one for me, (we will see if he did) so now I will have to hash it out with the owner. By the way, it is quite the drive for me so I am not happy about the what if outcome. He said the owner would not be in until 1:00 I called at 10:00. The girl is pleasant and the younger gentleman. The older ones though appear slow and angry. It is to bad they have a decent selection and fair prices on certain things. They just REALLY, REALLY need to work on customer service. *I am doing an edit here. I was able to exchange the magazine. By the way, there were still six on the rack. I will upgrade the score from a 2 to a 3 because I believe it really falls the gentleman who answered the phone. He was just being straight up lazy, in my opinion. The owner Jeff, was kind of rushed but assured me I would be taken care of. I am impressed with this place. I bought a used Ruger 77/22 (a 30 year old gun). I took it to the range that next weekend and I had a few issues: failures to feed, failures to fire, ejection issues etc. I was disappointed with my purchase but buyer beware especially with a used gun right? Not here. I called AJI told them of my issues and they said bring it back and they would have the gunsmith take a look at it. 2 days later they called and said they were sending it back to Ruger. Ruger went through the rifle replaced the firing pin, striker & spring, trigger, sear & spring, safety selector, bolt stop and tossed in a new magazine. AJI called me promptly when the gun came back and wouldn't even let me pay for the shipping. I can't imagine they made much on this sale but I'm happy that this store stands behind what they sell. AJI went well beyond what was expected and they have earned a loyal customer...their used gun selection is pretty good too. read more

As others have said, no direct rudeness but all in all a lack of customer service and any politeness, let alone friendliness, prevented me from the purchase of a pistol I'd been looking for for some time. Prices are good (although NO questioning prices, apparently it's "not approved, buddy"), when you can get staff to give a hand in checking things out, but an outright shrug at one question and general dismissal of other questions concerning important, potentially critical areas of the firearm in question sent me packing. Save yourself the annoyance and go somewhere else where your patronage is valued, instead of letting them treat you like a 'take it or leave it' incompetent. read more

This is my favorite gunshop in the valley. Reasonably priced used guns, mostly hassle-free $20 transfers, and trades. There are a few brusque characters around, but overall the vibe w/ most of the clerks at this largely family-run business is much more friendly and attentive than the average gun store, and not just to regulars. They tend to have average prices on new guns, a vast, eclectic and ever-changing selection of used guns (mostly in fair-good condition and not better) at good prices, and lots of less common ammo brands/calibers and interesting milsurp accessories like bayonets or obscure magazines at high prices. They can sometimes compete with online prices on very inexpensive new guns, so check them out if you're after a Ruger LCP or something. The owner also buys guns, but will low ball you if you want cash - the real benefit of this is that you can sometimes work out a trade, which might be fairly even. I will continue to visit this shop as long as they want to continue receiving transfers for me. read more

Came in seeking an AK-47 variant and they didn't disappoint. I'm only 18 years old and didn't look like a serious buyer, but I was looking to purchase and this was my first visit to this gun shop. Obviously nobody is going to come up to me and hold my hand so I went to an associate and asked for help and help was granted. Don't be afraid to ask for help or you won't get any these employees won't follow you around like gnats bowing to your every command! Anyways, I got my AK-47 out the door for $630 brand new so you can say their prices are extremely fair. However, their accessories are overpriced and that's why I am giving four stars. $18 for a used magpul Pmag is a little excessive so I just bought those at my local sportsman's warehouse for 13.99 brand new and that was that. Over all, good selection and fair prices on most fire arms but a little over priced on ammo and accessories. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend though! What can I say about AJI that a ton of people already haven't? There is exactly one helpful gentleman that works there. Younger guy, tall, blonde, goatee. Can't remember his name. Everyone else? Completely useless. But most of the store is self serve, so you don't really need them breathing down your neck anyways. The selection inside the store is like an awesome garage sale of random shit. There are broken guns, stocks, holsters and more littered around the store. Most of the tags have amusing hand-written notes on them relating to the shit quality of a lot of the items. The store is always busy. They always seem to have plenty of employees, but again, only one of them ever offers assistance. Apparently they pay one guy to sit in the corner on a laptop and answer the phone exclusively. Sounds like a sweet gig. Ammo prices are often ridiculous but they always have it and have hard to find stuff as well. All in all, check it out. You'll either love it or hate it. Oh yeah, the parking lot in back is often a nightmare as well, as every D-bag with a giant lifted truck tries to fit into tiny parking spaces blocking the driveways. read more

I came here a few times to trade in guns; the guy in the back who deals with trade-ins is a true businessman, who deals with you fairly and will break down his valuations and deal with you like a real human being.
