Five years ago when I had a sewer back up in the evening in my then only year old condo with which whose plumbing I was both unfamiliar and unskilled, I asked a neighbor in that then condo for a recommend and he immediately said to call Shane of Ajax. To this day I am still impressed, thankful, and obligated to Shane's and his assistant's immense crazy hard work coming on such short notice for emergency work thus a grateful review finally, years later. Shane arrived promptly within the stated window and since it was an emergency sewer backup, I had to urgently skip niceities and pointed to the problem which was a messy bathroom overflowing and Shane immediately in turn told his assistant to get the plumber's snake/auger while he simultaneously started removing the toilet altogether which was cutting the caulk to the ground, removing the 2 bolts, prying it off the wax seat, removing the plumbing connection inside, and lifting the whole thing off which in the rush and adrenaline seemed to be in 1 fell swoop. The assistant was quick to wheel up the very heavy (220lbs?) auger which they immediately sent down the exposed drain and about 15ft in, they encountered the blockage which he efficiently worked with the snake and I must note all of this was in rather dirty conditions with the backed up water. Shane was so quick, professional, and in control of what seemed like a house-ending event as to put us at ease. The sheer speed and expertise are priceless and he charged us the straight emergency rate (I think $200/h for both) but that was far far below all other vendors who are 2x-5x more but I'd happily given him 5x because of his sheer skill. To this day, I simply can't thank Shane and his assistant (shame I don't recall his name) enough and wanted all here to know of their heart and skill in emergency plumbing. read more

I honestly cannot recommend Ajax highly enough. We had a toilet plumbing emergency on Sunday and as everyone knows it's damn near impossible to get someone out on a Sunday. My regular plumber was out of town, but recommended Ajax to me. Kudos here to my plumber for recommending this company. To me this speaks to the high and unique integrity of Chris at CRC, for which I will always be grateful for and which I reviewed separately on Yelp. So, I left a message with Ajax' answering service and Shane got back to me promptly. He said he could have someone at my home in 2 to 3 hours. It was a pleasure speaking with Shane as he was extraordinarily sympathetic, understanding and accommodating. About two hours later, Walter of Ajax said he's a half hour away. He arrived right on time, introduced himself and got right to work. He resolved the issue within about 20 minutes and asked us to come and double check to ensure everything was working properly. It was. Walter too was extraordinarily professional and friendly and most importantly, extremely competent and got the job done. The price was a lot more reasonable than other companies, especially for a Sunday. Businesses like this are quite rare nowadays and I will recommend Ajax without hesitation. read more

On two separate occasions, they responded quickly and thoroughly inspected and cleared blocked wastewater lines that had been backed up. Been calling for over a month now. Leaving messages with the receptionist for an appointment to get our sewage drained. On my last attempt this week, the receptionist (who claims I never spoke to her because she just started there & has been saying this almost every time I have called) said we were on the calendar but a specific date cannot be determined. Over a month and no one has reached out. Extremely disappointed. We have been with this using this company for years now but whoever is in charge now clearly does not want business. read more

Well called these guys lastnight had clogged kitchen sink . They told me someone would come with in 2hrs , someone came in 1hr. Which i was happy . We had water back up in our basement Sunday. We called Ajax Sunday morning and they told us they'd be sending someone to our home that day. By mid afternoon we called again because no one had shown up yet. We were again told someone was coming. No one came Sunday. We received the same run around on Monday and were in fact told someone would be en-route in an hour. Tuesday we were actually told someone would be here between 12 & 3! Needless to say, it is Wednesday and still no one has had shown up, yet we've been pretty much staying home to accommodate Ajax for three days now for someone who has consistently failed to show up. It's impossible to get anyone on the phone other than "dispatch" who "will relay the message." Completely turned off by this business. Terrible customer service. Would never recommend. read more

Came to unclog bathroom sink which had a trap that can be accessed from the bottom. These geniuses drilled a hole in a perfectly good pipe where the pipe goes into the wall tile. They realized there mistake and said they would come back to repair the job....2 weeks later after numerous phone calls-still no repair and no return calls to my messages. When you call, you get a rude receptionist that has no clue what she is doing and keeps giving us the run around. I called them on a Sunday to get a price for the to snake my backed up main sewer line, and got the office. they took my information, and I got a call back from Michael within 90 seconds. He gave me his price and time frame, and I told him I'd rather rent the machine and do it myself for cheaper since I'm handy enough and since they were pretty booked up with other appointments and couldnt get to me till later. Michael took the time to speak with me, give me tips about which machine to rent and how to do it. Terrible. I live in an apartment and our maintenance manager called them on Thursday to come and unclog my kitchen sink. He informed me they would come Thursday night / or Friday. No show. No calls to him or me. I called in the early afternoon Friday and the girl cheerfully gave me a time slot of 5:30 to 7 PM. Again, no show, no call. I called and the afterhours staff took my number. They never called. I called 4 times, no return call, no "I'm sorry" from the staff. Nothing. Here it is Saturday and nothing. So, from Thursday night to Saturday afternoon I have a clogged sink and no response. I'm stuck with these loosers because apparently my building management contracts with them. Monday morning I'll be on the phone with the building management to get another company. Don't waste your time. read more

Very professional and very clean. I called them to unclog the main sewer. I will call again if needed or for maintenance of the pipe system.

My Mom's shower drain was slow to drain then from there things got worse. Luckily, Shane (owner) got back to me almost immediately and sent one of his guys, Mike. Mike quickly ascertained there was a main line clog (don't use Charmin - too thick) and cleared the line for Mom. Mike was conscientious and wore a mask the entire time - outside! Mark from Ajax saved the day! Actually, more like half the year. For the past six months I've been dealing with water backup from my laundry line. It was not always persistent so sometimes I could do laundry and at other times there was water spilled all over my floor. This resulted in an eventual broken washer and some mold. I spent money on a washer technician, Roto Rooter and a new washer before I contacted Ajax. I am most disappointed that I expected Roto Rooter to have properly conducted their job when they didn't even bother to diagnose the problem properly and cost way more than Ajax! Mark, a young guy from Ajax seemed infinitely more determined to resolve the problem and snaked all the possible drains that might have caused the problem. Eventually, he found the source of all evils - a yellow plastic ball that ended up stuck on its way to the drain via the gutter. He promptly rolled up his sleeves and solved my problem! All I got from the Roto Rooter guy was that the problem is likely to occur again. Despite the rare review on Yelp, Ajax has plenty of stellar reviews on Angie's list. I was able to get same day service (why would I ever call Roto Rooter again?). Mark was punctual and even called 15min before arrival to confirm. Truly outstanding! read more
