John has worked on a couple properties. He's always on time, prompt and thorough. This latest time the flat roof on my Bronx townhouse leaked by the gutter. It's not our first rodeo when it comes to contractors. I've wasted many hours waiting for guys to show up who 'promised' to be there in 10 minutes. I have to sat that Mike and his Royal Roofers crew were wholly professional and I would highly recommend them. Back last year I called them based on their online reviews. They came out to look at our garage roof initially which was visibly in need of work. Mike came along with another guy and sent up his drone to check out the roof on the house which clearly highlighted an issue of standing water on our flat roof. We needed both roofs replacing :( We haven't owned the property for too long. The Home Inspector only put a camera on a boom and didn't see any issues so we thought we were in the clear. It took some time for us to get around to schedule the work but we finally booked for the work to be done a month ago. Communication was excellent (highly under-valued trait) and Mike/team made sure to check in in the run-up to the scheduled date as the weather was looking changeable. On the day of the work, Mike and the guys showed up early and got to work with ruthless efficiency. Hugely impressive to see. I was kept up-to-date on progress at every stage via texts with pictures and if necessary, in-person check-ins. What I appreciated most was that at various points, Mike's team had the chance to just 'make do' but a few additional ideas were floated which have turned out to be a real value add, including a skylight. Yes, additional cost, but the amount of light coming in now is transformational to our home. The guys managed to crush both roofs in one day. After trying to patch the same leak in our front porch with different local Bronx roofers, we decided to do online research and find a qualified company. Royal sent Eden and Shy their project managers to do an on site visit and figure out the problem. They gave me and my husband two options: spot repair or a discount for a full roof replacement with 50 year factory warranty backed by GAF the material manufacturer. We just decided since they pointed out warning signs regarding flashing and other problems around the roof to just invest in a new roofing system. Also their price wasn't cheap but it was very fair and they offered different discounts and financing if we wanted. Fast forward to the day of install, we signed an esign contract and they got us on their schedule within a few days. When the crew showed up it was about 15 guys, all company trucks including dump truck they managed to find parking within minutes and I live on a busy block. They were able to do a full removal and replacement of our roof in one day. It was amazing. Very professional the entire way through and they had the experts and the technology to get it done right. We couldn't be there when it happened so they sent live updates with pictures and even drone video from above. When they started to remove the roof they found more layers of old roofing than anyone had anticipated. They were able to incorporate the extra work seamlessly. The Royal team swarmed our roof, quickly removed and cleaned up the existing roof shingles, replaced plywood and applied the new roofing professionally. First of all, I want to thank the Team of workers for an excellent job. About 15-20 came to replace my brownstone flat roof in Bedstuy this past week, and the guys showed up on time at 730am, worked throughout the day until finished at 6pm. They really are a great crew. Also thanks to Sean the Project Manager for walking us through the process and answering all our detailed questions! We had over 8 roof layers on the property and all the other estimates recommended a layover of adding another layer of roofing onto the roof. Royal explained to me that 2 layers is the housing code maximum, and that not only were all those layers too much weight for the property but that the leaks wouldn't fully be fixed until rotted wood under the layers was replaced with new plywood. So happy I chose them. Their customer service was superb. They really are the #1 roofing company from my experience with them.
