I cannot say enough good things about Weiss Plumbing. They recently handled two jobs in our brownstone. The first was the replacement of a heating pipe and elbow (Glen and his young co-worker) during some of the coldest days in early February. The second job, just last week, required the replacement of a water pipe literally buried behind a bluestone wall, coupled with replacing a related elbow encased in cement (can you imagine?) in our basement. It's hard to ponder a more miserable and challenging job. I have a thick Japanese accent and have no knowledge of plumbing. Only I knew was that all sewage pipes in my apartment -- bathtab, sink, washer/dryer -- were very slow and wanted to do something about it. The person, who answered my call, was very kind and patience. The plumber, who came to my place next day, did a good & clean job. If you are not comfortable calling a plumber and that's stopping you to deal with your plumbing problem, I definitely recommend these people! read more

It's my fault for not inquiring about price prior to the appointment, but it was nearly $300 to change out the guts of a toilet tank. Absurd. You will think for that price my toilet would work impeccably. Nope! It still runs ad nauseum even after jiggling the handle and such. I don't know why, but my building has used them for years. After having Weiss as our go-to plumber for over 20 years, we've given up. Unless it's an emergency situation, they just never call back. They've been responsible and have done good work, but this last time when we needed a plumber, they never returned our calls. We called three different times to schedule them to replace a sump pump. The receptionist said someone would call us back to set up an appointment, but no one ever called back. And we've been a regular customer for two decades. How many times do you have to call this business before you can get a callback? We just gave up and went elsewhere that had a higher yelp rating with dozens of 5 star reviews, not just a few - Dovis Plumbing & Heating. read more

I called about a grill hook up and these guys were so friendly and lovely to deal with. They sent someone over quickly, same day. Turns out everything was fine, but the guys stayed and checked the line to be safe. All in all they were professional and super helpful and because the job was so quick they did not charge me. These guys are the best. Over the course of a few months they replaced a 25 year old hot water heater and a long section of ancient sewage pipe which had several holes and cracks. They arrived when they said they would, did great jobs on both projects and removed the old heater, sewage pipe piece and all the debris that the jobs created. I have used Weiss Plumbing twice and both times, they were professional and efficient as well as did an excellent job. They don't charge you an upfront "estimate fee" or come with booties to cover their shoes. It's very straightforward. If you want an estimate in advance, one of their guys comes by, looks at the job and gives you approximately how much time it will take and the approximate cost. I've had Glen and Tony do work on my apartment and can't complain about either one of them. They came in, got the job done as well as cleaned up everything. Their hourly rate may be a bit more but it's well worth it and you won't regret having chose them. read more

I would never use anybody else. These guys are the epitome of what all contractors should be. They are caring, professional and extremely skilled. They have been a neighborhood fixture since I was a child. They know the area and care about it. They are extremely fair with their prices and thoroughly explain their work in lay mans terms. I hesitated writing a review, because the Weiss plumbers I know are so different than some of the reviews I'm seeing on Yelp. For me, they have always been helpful and reliable. I did have one experience recently where my call was not returned until the next day (it was not an emergency), and when I called back with a question, my call and question were both answered right away. Over the many years I've lived here, they've always done good work for me. And yes, they are not cheap, but also, again in my experience, won't try to talk you into things you don't need. But after reading all the reviews here, my compromise was to get some names of other plumbers in case of an emergency. Otherwise, I'm calling Weiss. read more

Very simple - they are 100% flakes. If you get in touch with them and speak to someone they will book an appointment, then move the appointment, then forget about you. Maryann may be a very nice lady on the phone, but she will drop you like a bad habit the second another call comes in. I scheduled an appointment on Tuesday for a Thursday visit. I called to follow up on Thursday and she told me they were too busy with other emergencies to take care of me. She said I was on the schedule and someone would be out Friday. I called on Friday and asked for her. She never called back even on my third call in the afternoon no response. Weiss plumbing are absolutely horrible people. The least they could do is tell those who call them that they aren't in the business of plumbing rather than pretend like they will have someone help you eventually. How hard is it to say, "we aren't accepting any new business at this time?" Weiss, you should be ashamed!!! read more

Very happy with Weiss! Recently purchased a multi-family building, was having issue with a circulator pump on the heating system. Expected to pay a lot of money for a new pump, however, the plumber showed me that all it needed was oil. A simple and inexpensive fix after being quoted over $1,000 to replace the circulator pump by another contractor. The Weiss plumber then performed an inspection of the system, explained how the system works and gave maintenance tips. Very pleased with the professional service. read more

Horrible. Had an appointment for 11 a.m. By 12:30 no one had showed up and no one called. When I called to find out what was going on the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude and defensive. She said the earliest the plumber could get there would be 1:30, but she didn't seem to think it was necessary to call and tell me he was going to be at least 2.5 hours late. When I asked why there was such a delay the woman on the phone just kept saying "this isn't therapy and not everyone gets 45 mins." Unfortunately, my building contracts with Weiss so I don't really have a choice, but if you do stay away. read more

Regrettably, I wasted two hours time owing to missed and late appointments with Weiss Plumbers. First time, they called me at the last moment to cancel an appointment because a part they needed was missing. Second time, one plumber arrived at my home without the necessary part and assured me his partner would arrive shortly with the part. Forty minutes later, he had not yet arrived. read more
