A very nice man named Anthony helped me from start to finish! He requested photos of the issues, and from them gave me advice on what to do. A few other plumbing services contacted me, too, and all gave the same advice. I went with Anthony because he got back the fastest & was trustworthy from the start (and also the company had stellar reviews on Yelp). Through the week we arranged the item I needed, I paid for it to be picked up at the Home Depot convenient for him. It was over 100lbs & I am truly grateful Anthony handled pickup & delivery. Come Thursday Anthony & his associate Miguel arrived to my home & brought the unit up my stoop + two flights of stairs, and swapped my old commode out for the new one within two hours! I couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism, knowledge, care & work Anthony & his people afforded me. They saved Christmas! Bless you, Anthony & Miguel! I was very surprised at the very lax/vague statement of work, the proposed price tag of $25,000 and the fact that when I wouldn't sign at 9:00 PM, the quote paperwork was taken away. I ended up with a master plumber who determined the cause and repaired the pipes for a fraction of the proposed amount.

Got a call back very quickly saying they were on their way and would arrive in about an hour. Anthony arrived with another gentleman, Dom, on time and they patiently listened while I explained what was going on and what I tried. Anthony told me they'd first try to snake the drain and if that didn't work, there was another procedure with a water jet. I appreciated him being upfront about the fact that the first thing they would try may not work in order to set expectations. Decided to go with the snaking and Anthony let me know the price and proceeded to do the work. They were very thorough, spending about an hour working on it and testing it. By the end of the snaking, everything was working without an issue! Throughout the work, Anthony and Dom were extremely pleasant. They took extra care to ask if it was okay to move things onto the counter or if I wanted any extra protection on the floor. The great work, attention to detail, and general pleasantness mean I'll be calling Downtown Plumbing anytime I need a plumber.

Richard Haviland is a rare find. I needed a plumber to do some work in Brooklyn, but I did not have…read morethe time or resources to go to Brooklyn to find one. So, of course, I went to the web, Craigslist in particular, wading through a lot of ads and promo-posts that looked suspect at best and downright deceitful at worst. I was beginning to get worried when something about Richard's post caught my eye. I can't even tell you what it was to this day; it wasn't flashy or bombastic - maybe that's what it was, who knows. But something made me call him - and so far he has turned out to be the best tradesman I have had going into that building on a regular basis. He investigates the problem, gets in touch with me to review the details, we settle on a cost - always reasonable - and a course of action, and he gets the job done, letting me know the final bill. Work's done, tenants are happy and all is right with the world. He is a man of his word. And did I mention that I have yet to meet him face to face? That's right - we've been working together now for almost a year, and he and I have been nothing more than voices on the phone to each other with a little bit of cellphone technology mixed in. Sure, I have a guy in the building who works as a go-between for the residents and for followups. But Richard and I have been operating on a virtual handshake for almost a year now, and more than once he has shown himself to be not only a very good plumber, but a man with integrity and a compassionate heart. I am very fortunate to have come across his post in Craigslist. I know exactly What led me to him! And I just want to make that known to anyone else who needs some plumbing work done in Brooklyn and would like to deal with a real decent human being. Thanks a lot, Richard!

The best plumber experience I have ever had. Edited to drop a star. He takes my call or text and even will come over ... then accepts no payment for his time and recommends someone else. Generous and kind but not what you expect when you contact a plumber. If his B team were 100% great that would be okay--they're decent, but south of four stars. Not sure what aspect of plumbing Richard actually does.
