I could immediately tell he's very knowledgeable and experienced in his craft. Overall, the entire process was also quite smooth and convenient. Some places charge an exorbitant fee to just send someone out to provide an estimate. Adam on the other hand, is able to provide a free estimate through text so you know what to expect prior to scheduling an appointment. It took about 2 hours for them to fix the leak and they even cleaned up whatever debris was created from the job! If I ever have another heating issue in the future, I know who to call on. I'd like to personally thank Adam Epstein, the Owner of AJAX Plumbing and Heating in Bayside, for sabotaging my heating system, which contributed to a basement flood and then price goughing repairs. After his visit, the expansion tank reputured and I had a five inch flood in my basement! The insurance adjuster sent over a boiler specialist to look over my heating system and hot water heater. We had a conversation about the recent AJAX plumbing services rendered that week. I showed him ALL the receipts from AJAX Plumbing. The specialist apologized for AJAX Plumbing's unethical pricing. Adam Epstein replaced a fairly new thermostat he changed in 10/2015, the expansion tank replacement and bleeding radiators of my two-family home. My boiler started to leak in April 2019, and I waited to replace it in September. My two year old water heater shut off after major flood. I texted Adam, who installed it, and he said it would need to be replaced. He said he will not try to ignite pilot light or do anything , just replace. At first I agreed but then my contractor came by and within a few minutes got it working. I cancelled new water heater with Adam for the next day and although I had a three year contract with him to maintain the boiler, he said he will not be coming back, find someone else, "I'm finished." He checked out the boiler for less than 10 minutes and told me he was not able to fix it because it was old and modified..... and recommended me to install new boiler.... and finally he charged me $175 for nothing. I just used Ajax plumbing for a conversation from oil to gas. I personally felt Adam really knows what's he's doing. From the beginning to end, the process was very professional. Everything was written in a detailed contract and I didn't have to pay any extra money when the job was done. I did have to pay for a new chimney liner and some repairs for the chimney. But that was because the previous owners of my house didn't maintenance it. The chimney job was a different company. It needed to be done so we have ventilation. I liked the people he choose for the side jobs as well. Everybody worked really fast and was in and out. As an result I would recommend him to anyone. Ok first off they called back quickly and set an appointment for 8am... he showed up 20min late but he did call.. that's the only reason for one star... Anyhoo I called ajax cause of the good reviews...and i needed a boiler cleaning and tune.. first thing he asks for is a roll of paper towels..ok np.. then he takes a few towels (dry) and pushes all the dust and dirt on the floor...usally boiler cleanup would involve a vacuum.which he didnt have....next he pulls the burner tubes wipe off the dust with another paper that I supplied.. put them back in adjusted the temp and handed me a bill.. for $175 Truth is I was astonished... every other time I've had this done they take the top off the boiler and brush the elements inside.. clean stack to the chiming check bottom of chimney...all being brush and vacuumed...then check the water relief valves etc.... this guy was there for 20mins from start to finish..and did none of that...and when I questioned him about the stuff he was supposed to do he said he never does that...even his helper was grinning ...so let's summarize 1 he used my paper towels 2 no spray of any kind 3 pushed all the dirt and dust on the floor 4 NO VACUUM 5 he dusted the burner tubes 6 no brushing and cleaning the elements 7 no cleaning of the stack... 8 and left all the dirt and dust on the floor 9 only cash or check for this service 10 I GOT SCREWED Beware ....Dont use this company read more

In the fall of 2018, right when the weather changed from cool to cold my old boiler cracked, leaked, and I shut her down for good. I called Ajax and others for an estimate, and he wasn't the cheapest but I like knowledgeable people. He did the job in a day, to include delivery of new (very heavy) boiler, removing (even heavier) old boiler and cleaned up afterwards. Turned on the switch and voila, heat! So, when my hot water tank started to leak in 2019 almost the same day as my boiler in 2018, I called Ajax once again to give me an estimate for the job. Delivery of a new one, removal of the old tank, and he was done in four hours. Can I say, "voila, hot water"? I was more worried about my new stairway just build carrying these monsters from the basement. Like they rehearsed before coming to my house, not a scratch. That alone was worth the extra money. This is a followup to my review of gas boiler installed by AJAX earlier this year. On Thanksgiving day my dinner guests notice the house was getting colder. I checked the boiler and it intermittently was igniting but failing to turn on the burners. Since the AJAX boiler installation included a 3 year parts and labor contract I contacted Adam and left a voicemail message. He returned my call within an hour and suggested a few actions but to no success. Adam made an appointment to visit me the next morning. He called me at 630am stating he was on his way to supply store he found open on the day after Thanksgiving. By 730am Adam arrived and inspected the boiler. He determined the burner startup problem was caused by low gas pressure from utility company. I contacted Utility company and several hours later they dispatched a tech and confirmed gas pressure into house was too low. After increasing pressure the boiler kicked on and all was well. Several months earlier Adam and his assistant also performed a tune-up which was covered in the 3 year contract. Adam did our conversion from oil to gas in the dead of winter. Our oil burner gave out end of December and we needed new everything plus running new gas lines from the front of the basement and have both DOB and ConEd sign off. After a few rounds of quotes and some ridiculous claims from larger and equally well rated plumbing companies from Angie's list, we decided to go with Adam. His price and timeline were very reasonable and he seem very familiar with the permitting and inspection process. Adam was able to make the switch quickly and efficiently with no mess; he tested my existing lines and fixed a few other things in our house. On the day of the switch, we were only without heat for 8 hours, in the middle of Jan. (Some of the other contractors told us to expect to be without heat for 2 months!) In the spring, ConEd decided to installed a new gas line for us and Adam was our guy to obtain permit, bring the line into the house, and retire the old line. Now we have a brand new line and system and are very happy we found Adam. read more

Adam made the oil to gas conversion in my house painless. I was told by others that the process would be a nightmare and that it would go thousands over the contract price. Well I don't know if it was a scare tactic or they just hired some bad people but I can tell you that didn't happen with Ajax plumbing. Everything was detailed in the contract and completed as stated and agreed upon . Adam is a master plumber and took care of all of the filing requirements, permits with NYC and everything with the utility company. Total process took about 90 days from signing of the contract (there was no gas in the house) to removal of old equipment and oil tank. If you're considering this process my advice is to begin (contract signed)at least 90 days before you anticipate cold weather to kick in if you have no gas in the house at all. At the very least can't hurt to get a quote from Ajax. You'll see when you start asking questions about the process he knows the exact process and requirements to get it done. Oh and did I mention he's not only the salesman he's the one actually licensed and doing the work. When was the last time you experienced that? Me almost never.
