DESERVES ZERO STARS! I'm renovating a bathroom and setting up new laundry room in my house in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. I shared approved Dept of Buildings plans and supervisor came out for a walk-through and verbally quoted me $20,000, saying as he left he'd write the detailed proposal based on his $20,000 verbal quote. However, when he emailed his proposal the price shot up 92.3% to $38,460.00! I emailed back to get justification, but never received a response to the exorbitant markup from the verbalized quote at my house. I wanted to know why Harris would not honor the $20,00 I was quoted during the site visit? I have been a repeat client of this business paying $1000s at each of their visits to do my plumbing work, and was told that because of this fact, I'd get a slight discount on my renovation proposal for the plumbing aspect. But a 92.3% markup from original quote of $20,000 is extortion, fraud and just bad business practice to say the very least! I found out also that they don't come out and tell you that they charge a discharge/service fee to come out, but $150/per hour of travel time is quietly--not disclosed to customer--added to their bills, yet never disclosed to you upfront. They were coming from the office location in Brownsville and I'm all the way down south on Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay and they must take the side streets to get to me because commercial vehicles are not permitted on the Belt Parkway. I will stop being a repeat loyal customer to Harris Plumbing and Heating and will not refer them to anyone else ever again. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau also. BAIT AND SWITCH We are a retired couple on a fixed income. We were looking for a plumber with good reviews AND reasonable pricing to remedy a clogged toilet, after attempts to do this ourselves. There are numerous billboards advertising Harris' business in various states we've visited; what caught our attention was the statement on these which said $93.00 or free. When arranging for the Harris company to work on our plumbing issue, there was no quote offered for this. Only when the plumber arrived did he say the cost was $200.00. We paid this amount, and the problem was remedied. During the the unclogging, my husband observed the tool the employee was using to clear it. We looked for this tool online and found it, the Rigid Hybrid TOILET Auger, model K-6P We plan to purchase this same tool, which sells for $64.98 on Amazon; a more economical and practical way to deal with toilet clogs. The Plumbing employee who resolved this issue was professional and good at what he did. However, it was not a pleasant situation to experience dishonesty on the part of Harris, i.e, FALSE ADVERTISING. read more

I have been using Harris Plumbing for the last 20 years. The staff is professional and accommodating. They explain the ins and outs and pros and cons of each Job. Patsy, Joe and Tony are great. They are licensed and are above board with their work and do not take short cuts. When they do a job, it's complete. My only challenge using them is they are not readily available on weekends and late evenings for emergencies but on weekdays, you can get them at 7am and they are very responsive to your needs, often same day to within 24 hours. They were on time, did good work, were professional, didn't nickel and dime me (what I paid was what they quoted over the phone), and even swept up and left the boiler room cleaner than it was when they got there. They cleared the blockage in our underground drain pipes without resorting to tearing up the concrete above, saving us a lot of money and hassle. Along the way, they found and fixed several smaller issues, patching up holes with concrete and shoring up a very old drain -- they went above and beyond, at a fair price. I has a stopped up sewer drain that was causing water to back up into the basement. I called Harris Plumbing and explained the problem. They misdiagnosed it, insisting that the leader line from my roof did not connect to the sewer main, even though I told them that it did. They told me I had a dry well that needed to be excavated (I do not) and they charged me $572 for the bad advice. After another firm came and solved the problem -- the leader line does connect to the sewer! and that's where the issue was! -- and charged me a fraction of the cost to clear it -- I called Harris to ask that they refund my money. Was connected to Sal (although he said he was not the same Sal who signed my invoice). He refused a refund. One thing to make a mistake. Another to refuse to own it. I won't use Harris Plumbing again and cannot recommend them. read more

we needed a lot of work and for plumbing and they acted fast with a quote but was unprofessional. As to scheduling, and work ethic They try to make you feel as that have your best interest , yet don't do their invoices correctly!!! I can't even speak to the quality of their work; they moved our appt from Thursday to Friday and then tried to move it to Monday until I complained prompting an appt for later in the afternoon Friday. They then called and over the phone recommended several fixes without even inspecting our boiler. I called someone else who arrived within 2 hours and said nothing was wrong with some of the parts Harris told us to replace. All in all, I received very poor customer service from Harris and would not recommend. read more

I recently called them as by Blower was not working. The operator was very nice and courteous however the guy that came and told me that the board needs to be replaced. So I asked him how much its goin to cost he said he is going to talk to his boss and find out , then he goes to van and pull some manual after telling me its old and hard to find and open up a page and show me price of a board with no name for $670+ HST , right away I saw online the board brand new from Amazon in $158. I understand you want to make profit but don't rip off the customer like that so please be aware and do your homework. read more
