The bot then had me fill out information over the phone and also said they did sprinkler inspection. I scheduled the appointment. They called the next day with a human and cancelled the appointment without an apology, saying "the AI did it wrong". Absurd. Hire real people, stop wasting people's time. read more

TLDR; Did not have a great experience with Pipe Monkeys. While the drain was eventually cleared out, the technician did more damage than good. I had a clogged bathtub that was in need of a snake. When I had the same problem in the past, another drain cleaning company, who wasn't available, cleared it out through the sink P trap and I suggested we try that again. First issue is that the technician managed to break the drawer within the vanity while trying to make space. I unfortunately didn't notice this until after he left. The previous drain cleaning company I worked with was fine without needing to remove the drawers but this technician seemed to need to. After trying to snake through the sink line without success we then tried the bathtub overflow spout. On his first attempt through the overflow spout, the water was still not draining. He then said he would try going through the drain itself, which I was told by others in the past may be risky but he reassured me it was fine. His drain auger had a snake end fitting which prevented the snake from clearing the p-trap. He didn't have the right tools with him and he asked if I had a tool so he can saw it off and make the snake pass through. I felt a little apprehensive about this but thought I could trust him. He was unable to cleanly saw off the end fitting and said he'd try sending the snake back down anyways. I asked him if that was a good idea and if it wouldn't fall off. He said it was fine. He tried snaking again and when he retracted the snake THE END FITTING ENDING UP FALLING OFF. Now I had a clogged bath tub and a snake end fitting trapped. He assured me it was fine, and that the drain pipes are large enough and it will just pass through--no worries. He sends the snake one more time, now without an end fitting. He is finally able to get the drain to unclog, and when he retracts the snake again, guess what is entangled on the end? THE END FITTING. I am relieved that I didn't have to worry about another possible issue, and that the drain is unclogged, but I have no idea what damage he may have caused my pipes. He tries to clean up after he's done but I tell him it's okay he can stop because he was doing a poor job. Can't recommend this company if this is the type of bush league service you are to expect. 2 stars for clearing out the drain but otherwise it seems risky based on the technician you get. And I have a broken vanity now. read more

So I thought I was handy and tried to remove my kitchen aerator to clean but ended up breaking it, so I called Pipe Monkeys for help. Kirk said he's available on the weekend and I asked if he's available the next day and he agreed and was gracious enough to fit me into his busy schedule. The broken aerator turned into a bigger project because of a leak in the kitchen pipes and I ended up having to replace the pipes and the faucet. Even though it was so last minute, Kirk replaced and fixed everything and even came back a few days later to replace a drain basket but only charged half his hourly fee. Don't waste your time, these people don't want to work. Called them and they said they would show up with in 3-4 hours. 8 hours go by, and nothing, I call and they won't pick up. It's now almost 10 hours and they show up and take on look at my tub and say 'yeah we don't do that'. read more

We had a sewer backup and filled out a Sewer Backup form on NYC.gov/311 to report it. After reading some reviews on Yelp and Angie's List, we decided to call Pipe Monkeys Sewer and Drain to resolve the issue. The NYC DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) people arrived first to respond to the Sewer Backup form, and confirmed that there wasn't a problem with the City sewer main. Kirk from Pipe Monkeys arrived afterwards, within the prescribed timeframe. He quickly diagnosed the issue, which turned out to be an overlooked chore that anyone can perform: an annual (or twice per year) cleaning of the house sewer traps. Kirk then demonstrated how to open our sewer trap plugs, how to clear blockages with a regular toilet auger, and how to properly reseat the plugs. Pipe Monkeys was on the expensive side for resolving what turned out to be a simple issue, but we had a good experience with Kirk. We especially appreciated that he explained and demonstrated how some maintenance tasks can be performed without a plumber. I would consider using Pipe Monkeys again, to handle more complex work suitable to their expertise. read more

Wanted to do some tree roots maintenance before my lines get backed up. Called pipe monkey and Curt (Kurt?) Picked up after 4-5 rings. Very courteous and professional, was able to schedule me for next day morning. Nick, nice young man called half a hour ahead of our appointment time and informed me he would be about 15 mins late which was totally acceptable and professional. Came. 25 mins of rooting and he's out. Only complain? I was quoted $175-$225 (which is already on the High side) and I figured a 20 minutes maintenance job would land me at $175.... but I was actually billed $200. It was a bit much for just rooting Maintenance. Locals charge between $125-150.... and does about a good solid 30 minutes worth of cleaning. But for professional, courteous and quick service? Kirk is fantastic!!! Super quick at responding and was pleasant and patient over the phone when I described the random pipes screaming in our walls last month. He scheduled a 2 hour time frame and showed up ON. THE. DOT. He's incredibly honest and fair and admitted it was the first time he'd ever come across this problem. Since he wasn't exactly sure what the issue was, he proposed changing the fill valve and assured me if that didn't fix the problem, he'd come back out. Well, that fixed it and it's no longer a Scooby-Doo mystery. Our only issue now is that the toilet tank sometimes doesn't fill up all the way but I called him today and he's swinging by to take a look and assured me he'll find out what the issue is - which I have full confidence in. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because when his helper changed out the fill valve, he left our bathroom a mess and had stuffed the old fill valve in the already full teeny bathroom garbage can instead of giving to us to throw out. There was water that went all over the floor too, which he cleaned with paper towels that were also stuffed into the can. Even so, that was minor and can be easily improved upon. What you CAN'T change is Kirk's expertise/knowledge and excellent customer service. read more

They found that while the replacement of old pipes was easy, there is an issue the connection to the washing machine. I am left with damaged bath tub with scratches and dents. Not to mention he was not able to complete the repair which I still paid.
