Long story alert! 1st time here. Made an appointment for 230. Arrived 220. Was told I couldn't be seen until 3. OK... trying to be nice and go with the flow, I agree to wait. At 3, the front desk girl puts me in a pedi chair. I put my feet in the water and the massage chair is broken. I dry my feet, move to another chair and the water is set to crazy hot. She turns on the cold faucet and walks away. Oops! A few minutes later water is pouring over the top onto the floor! I called out, "helllooo?" And someone comes to bring towels. It's now 10 minutes after 3... pedicure has not started yet... Not sure if I am supposed to laugh or start to get angry. Deep breaths. Finally Eddie comes over and we start at 315. 45 minutes after my appointment. Things happens... trying to roll with it! Pricing... their printed price list shows a classic spa pedicure for $25 and a deluxe spa pedicure for $32. I asked what the difference is... front desk girl went to check. Apparently they don't offer a classic anymore and she said the deluxe is "a regular pedicure" Hmmmm... alrighty. Not sure what that means but let's do that then. The prices are quite a mystery! The sign on the wall has completely different (higher) prices than the brochure. Also, on the sign, is it $30 or $35?? Gel polish says $20 and $15. Either way... that's incredibly expensive! Most places it's an extra $5 for gel. See attached pictures for reference. I will say that he a fair job on the pedi. Lots of scrubbing with sea salt and decent massaging on the legs , but not enough callous removal on the feet. Lotion would be helpful. Polish looks good, hopefully the one coat he put on will last. The acrylic fill was fine. A bit rough. No cuticle oil. It felt rushed. Overall the place seemed clean but it is poorly managed with mediocre care and is someplace I would not return to. We were able to get in on the same day (called in the morning for an afternoon appointment). The business is very clean and spacious. Do not go here! I booked an appointment way ahead of time because I had things to do but still had to wait 15/20 minutes for him to do my nails. He also didn't make my gel acrylics smooth so I asked him to redo the two nails that looked horrible and he acted like he had an attitude. He also did not make any conversation with me the whole time. I guess he ended up charging me for his mistakes too because I spent $50 on basic white, short acrylic nails. This is by far the best nail spa in town. Great environment, very relaxing, clean salon and employees are wonderful. The massage you get with every mani/pedi is unlike any other salon I have been to, you melt into the chair. Standard 8-10min, that's unheard of! I am very picky when it comes to waxing and have had some horrible experiences. At A.J's they actually listen to what you want done and not what they think looks good and take off your entire eyebrow. They are very through with every service provided and take pride in their work. They appreciate their customers. The only place in Jacksonville I will go to get my nails done. The owner Eddie is so funny, and does amazing nails, yet their the cheapest in town. They always come out how I asked for them, the designs are always perfect, everyone's always friendly, and not speaking to each other in foreign languages which makes most people including me uncomfortable. I am very picky when it comes to getting my nails done. I have paid a lot in the past for what turns out to be a waste of money. AJ Nails is not like that. My first visit was almost a month ago. I got a pedicure and a full set of pink and white nails. The pedicure was great and not overly priced. In fact its been three weeks and my toe nails still look great!! I'm horrible with names so I can't give you the name of the nail technician but all of them are very nice and friendly. For my full set I was a little apprehensive. I have gotten them done before and within days my nails started lifting and within two weeks they were all on the verge of falling off completely. Again not here!! Eddie (I think that's his name) did an amazing job both times. I have had a problem in the past with wanting my nails to be short, I was always given a hard time that the nails wouldn't look right but they gave me the exact length I wanted. I type a lot for work and having super long nails makes it difficult and I end up with several mistakes. I highly recommend going there!! I go get a mani- pedi regularly (about 3-4 weeks) and have been trying to find a good place in the area. After reading all the great reviews, I decided to give this salon a try. Honestly, this was the worst gel manicure I have had in years. He cut my cuticle on two fingers and the polish doesn't even cover my full nail on several fingers. Not even on either thumb! I wanted a design on my toes. He could not do the design I asked for, so I asked for a freehand flower. They even look like crap. I will never go back to this place. Got my nails done here for the first time today after several people recommended I check it out and was far from disappointed. Eddie was hilarious! I've been here 4 times. The first time was okay. 2nd time came with a friend and had to come back 2 days later because my poor job of a shellac manicure started chipping! I had it fixed and two days later it chipped again. I didn't even feel like going back so I just left it. Absolutely love their pedicures. I chose the one with the paraffin wax and it was amazing. However, I also received a gel overlay and it did not last long at all. I've had over lays before and they've lasted a month or more but not this one. It started chipping in about a week, the polish and actual overlay. I don't do anything too crazy with my hands so I'm not sure what's wrong. It was pretty packed when I was there, so it's possible it was rushed. I paid 70$ for the pedi and overlay and according to my tech he gave me a discount due to it being a tad rushed, i still didnt expect the quality to be poor. I will try returning a day and time when they have less people and hopefully the quality will be better. read more

I waited over an hour for a terrible job done, they have a hard time comprehending the shape of nail you like so half of mine are square and the other half are rounded. They file them so they are extremely thin and frail now I have to go home and put an extra top coat on to protect them until I can get to my normal nail salon. I was honestly embarrassed to wear my toes out and ended up taking it off the same day. My manicure was a 8/10 except the "marble" looked more like rushed squiggles. Eddie, the owner, is hilarious and does a great job! Yen, his wife, is very sweet and also does wonderful. She can be a bit slow though. Each time I come for a visit, I'm there for several hours. Nancy is the only other nail specialist that I've seen work here besides them. She is nice but sloppy. I could have painted my toes better at home. I had to ask her three times to cut my toes before she did it and it looked like she had never used nail clippers before. My gel nails weren't painted evenly either and she left paint all over my nails. If I come back again, I will definitely make sure to ask for Eddie and his wife.
