    Breakfast w 5 friends, 4/15/24
    Rich B.

Recently stopped in w 5 friends for breakfast. Service was excellent. Coffee, etc constantly flowed to our table. I had a Florentine (feta and spinach) omelet; others had French toast, egg white omelet, western omelets, etc. First of all, the presentation of my omelet was Picasso-worthy (suitable for framing). However, first time I ever had spinach in or on an omelet where it wasn't at least wilted. Kind of weird, to me. My grits were excellent. For me, they were the hit of the show. Overall rating is 4, which was also the average for my 5 dining partners. Also, first time I've rated them less than 5. Reasonable, good service.

"Fly Translove Airways gets you there on time" (Jefferson Airplane) We were heading home when the hunger pangs forced us to consider stopping for breakfast. But where should we stop? Well, YELP made that decision easy to make once I saw the excellent reviews for Airway. Our server Nadiye was charming, helpful and very attentive while not intrusive. Our breakfast of two omelets and two coffees ran a very reasonable $28.02. Coffees were $2.95 and Nadiye was right there with unprompted refills. An American Cheese omelet was $9.25 and came with two pieces of toast and a side. Now, Airway does sides right, because they offer quite a few -how about Home Fries, Deep Fried Home Fries, Tots, Fresh Fruit, Grits, French Fries, sliced tomatoes, and for a buck more you can splurge on Curly Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, or Onion Rings. I went with a Veggie omelet ($10.95) with rye toast and the regular home fries. Now I have to tell ya the serving plates at Airway are huge, but amazingly our orders filled up just about every square inch of that plate. My veggie omelet was loaded with diced onions, peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes. But the thing that surprised me was how great the home fries were. They were cooked on the flat top (we didn't go for the deep-fried versions) and they were so tender and delicious. The portions were huge (so we took home half of each), the service was great, and the pricing was very fair. Great job, Airway!

Lovin me the local mom & pop--especially a truly FaBuLuOuS diner!! We happened upon this newer establishment purely by chance. There are not too many good choices this close in to Bradley airport. We expected mediocre, and we got FIRE. You don't need to be headed in or out of the airport to stop in for a really great breakfast (all day!) lunch or dinner! The choices are plentiful and in large portions. Best part?! Prices are mad low for the area! This is our second time, but def NOT our last. Check it out when flying or...whenever. Give me a shout out if you do, thanks for reading me, & happy healthy yelping!

We had breakfast for six and we were all happy with our food and the service. They were able to fit us in a booth plus there are tables for larger groups. The only thing that was tough was the sound. It got so loud and we felt we had to speak loud to be heard. I wish people could just talk a little softer when out at any restaurant. But the food is consistently good and I love this place.

An awesome place for dinner! We got takeout; it was a lot of food, but really good. Probably should have gotten a "mini dinner" next time.

"And there's fire on the mountain Lightening in the air…read moreGold in them hills and it's waiting for me there" (Marshall Tucker Band) Fire On the Mountain has one of the most unique menus I've ever encountered. Seriously, where else have you ever seen breakfast quesadillas, catfish and grits, cheesecake cornbread waffles, smoked brisket hash, deep fried pork ribs, catfish, mushroom, and alligator tacos, and a Puerto Rican Rice Bowl all happily living in the same menu's neighborhood? And then, the icing on the cake was our server - a charismatic and uber-friendly gent named Bromwell who lights up the room with his personality. He made my list of the five greatest servers I interacted with this year. The restaurant's location is as unusual as its menu. You'll find it occupying the front space at the Suffield Commons Senior Living Apartments! Yup, as you walk through the restaurant and out their back door, you actually enter a common space for the housing complex. The restaurant itself has two dining rooms with booths, tables, and chairs and a bar with dining room chairs. That eclectic menu is chock full of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices with Mexican and barbecue flairs. We were there for lunch and ordered two things. The first was an enormous Cheese Quesadilla ($9.35) with pork ($3.12) on a grilled flour tortilla served with sour cream and pico. It was a thing of beauty, cut into five thick wedges loaded with smoked pork. Our second item was a Caesar Salad (Half size for $6.23) with a side of smoked brisket ($9.36). I passed on the croutons and Caesar dressing in lieu of barbecue sauce as my dressing. I gotta tell you, the brisket was GREAT, a big serving of tender and juicy smoked beef cut into four slabs that must have totaled close to a half pound. We loved everything about Fire On the Mountain and agreed that we need to return for a proper breakfast when we are out that way or making a morning airport run. PRO TIP The restrooms are located in the housing complex's common space I described earlier/ Just exit the restaurant by the door in the rear dining room, and you're just about there.

Had myself some pancakes, scrambled eggs and potatoes and this hit the spot! Pancakes were huge filled with blueberries. Potatoes were crisp as I had asked. And when I order scrambled eggs with cheese this is exactly how I want them made, fluffy and mixed together. They have alligator on the menu and as temped as I was to order, I will save that for next time.

Mon to Sat they open at 5am. I was only 10 minutes away from 6 but I figured they look like a place I'd want to eat at anyway and fate brought me to this awesome establishment. Upon entering it's not too bright and not too dark especially for this hour. The place looks immaculately clean. It's your typical diner feel just a little more modernish with the color scheme inside. Two breakfast bars and the rest booths and tables. Round stools at the bar for seating. The waitress greeted me and I just sat at the breakfast bar. I got a a coffee to start, nice med - dark roast. Not burnt and tasted freshly made, good quality Java to wake you up. Better than Dunkin could offer lol. For my breakfast I decided on the Crazy Good Hash and a side of sausage (they offer links or patties, I love my patties so that's what I chose). First bite was just amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect .. I low key was just thinking it would be the stuff from a can like other diners use but no.. you will not get that here. It was legit fresh corned beef... griddled with hashed potatoes .. it was light and flavorful, crispy crust and soft interior. Not drowning in sodium like the can stuff. The corned beef really just melted in your mouth, so juicy and tender just like a properly cooked corned beef should taste. It was just amazing and I was completely blown away. Paired together with high quality eggs and perfectly toasted with butter toast, there was not one bite left. I couldn't stop eating it. I was almost sad with my last bite .. but I was about to explode anyway since it was a very generous portion. I'm just a glutton when it comes to good savory foods. The sausage patties were great too .. nice crispy and juicy, good flavor profile, not herby like some .. I don't like those but these were great. Please come give this place a try and go for the Crazy Good Hash and Eggs. You won't regret it.

Odd little place. Locals like it. Parking way in the back makes for an uphill walk to the place…read more You enter, but there is no one to greet you in the very empty restaurant. So you walk farther upward to the bar. Small dark. Limited seating. Cozy and quaint but somehow still awkward. Yelp shows pizza, Steak and other great food. However, I was informed they no longer do pizza. Okay. So, I ordered the steak with red wine. A few minutes later I was told they were out of steak. (6:30 on a Wed). Ok. Np again. The baked scrod sounded good and I flipped my red wine order to sauv blanc. A very good house salad immediately came out. Fresh and full of good lettuce. Not cheap iceberg as well as plum tomatoes and cucumber and red onion. Nice! But it went down from here. Tick tock. Tick tock. Time goes by. The barteneder spending time talking to her favorite guests seemed aggravated that I interrupted after 15 minutes and asked if my dinner was arriving anytime soon? Just as she went to check it finally came out. And was not worth the wait. A $6 piece of cod sitting on mashed potatoes and soggy spinach just saturated in butter. A fish soup almost. $25? Ah not. I was just about to try dessert and the guy next to me ordered another drink for he and his girlfriend. The bartender said no. "We have a three drink max rule." Rude. To the point. Ruined their experience right there and mine too since i already had a martini and a wine. So, I wasnt going to rish an espresso martini with dessert and add more cost to be cut off. Anyway, i decided to skip dessert and just go. I left wanting an underwhelmed.

Food: plating was perfect, presentation excellent and taste was very good as well. Cost: for the area I think it was good, about 30-40 per person and for the quality of food, is on point. Overall: I was impressed with the restaurant and food though a drawback for me was even though I can be considered a great family restaurant, seeing people in tank tops at the bar turned it more into a corner place with great food rather than the upscale restaurant I was expecting. I would go back for the food if in the area.

I sat at the counter and was greeted immediately. Their menu is loaded with all the typical, popular breakfast eats. I opted for their corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. Starting with coffee. The coffee was typical, very good. My eggs I ordered scrambled with cheese and they were made perfectly! I'm a stickler for not having eggs overcooked, I don't want to see, nor taste any brown on them and these came out just right. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the BEST I've had at a place like this. There wasn't as many onion as I would have preferred, but the flavor and texture was perfect! So Very Good!! And finally, the corned beef hash - They use the typical canned style, which I knew and I asked for it to be well-done with jalapeño. The chef did a perfect job with this part of my breakfast!! The decor is all 50's from the chairs, walls, food, etc. Here's their story: "September 11th 2001 changed my life forever. After 19 years as a flight attendant, I decided it was time for a change. Thanks to my dearest mentor and friend, my dreams have come true. Actually, this all dates back to the year of 1952. My friend had a wish, too! Naif Makol, Jr. loved to eat his burgers when he was only knee high to a grasshopper, at which time, he asked his daddy if he would buy him a hamburger store. "Bah" astonishingly honored his son's request, and the family was in Burger Business. We dedicate the vision behind our concept to an exceptional man, Naif George Makol, Sr., without whose foresight and extraordinary business sense this could have not been possible. Our country was a great place to live in back in the 1950's American families enjoyed simple pleasures like drive-in movies, cruise nights, and car hops. Much has changed today except the memories of a time gone by. Naif Jr. has never let those joyous memories fade so in saying that here we are today. Naif and I wanted to create a place representative of a time when families gathered together listening to Dion or little Richard on the radio or cruising into their favorite soda shop for burgers or dogs. Skooter's took on a life of its own once we collaborated about the open kitchen concept and sit-down counter service. We've created a warm, family atmosphere which we hope you will enjoy. Our goal as proprietors is to provide you quick in-and-out service in an upbeat, happy environment at an affordable price. We want to be your home away from home. With Jonathan Karas as a key part of our family and the central force of our operations, I'm sure you will enjoy what he has to bring to the table (pun intended). We hope you delight in the simplicity and of course the great tasting yummy food." For my drink, I'm having a black coffee. It's my first caffeinated drink in a long time (no decaf available). I'd have a milkshake, but they're extremely heavy. Ah! REAL coffee! For my soup, it's Sausage, Pepper and Onion. Rice too I see. It's very good! An unusual soup, I'm also trying the chili. This is good! I got the last of it! Peppers is an odd ingredient. I can't leave here without trying a hot dog (Frankfurter) with sauerkraut. This is good! I liked the buttered bun. No shortage of sauerkraut. For my entree, I'm having a Grilled Lemon Chicken sandwich. This is really good! Notice the square lettuce leaves. For dessert, I'm having a slice of blueberry pie. This is a HUGE piece of pie! It's nice and chilled. I haven't had this in decades! It's delicious! What a great meal here! Those onion rings are freshly battered and are huge! One of them was 4 inches across! Oh yeah! This is great!

Cute location, basic diner grub…read more Came here on a whim. Running out of breakfast spots so need to scour further out. This place came up a decent distance away, so I made the trek. Sole server was hospitable. Lots of items were unavailable when I tried to inquire about them. Drinks were self-serve, but they did deliver food. I opted for the stuffed French toast and tried their home fries to see how they prepped them. Food came out with a little wait. Took my pics and dug in. The French toast, they did try but it was not the best. Cream cheese was as advertised, sweetened and smeared lightly between lightly dipped bread pieces which were grilled on a griddle. Lots of blueberries and a few sliced strawberries. And some powered sugar for decoration. Taste-wise was okay, but was way too bready and not enough seasoning. If I were to advise on how to fix this, make a cream cheese filling with the cool whip and cream cheese, and make it a substantial layer of filling. Macerate the strawberries, and soak the bread a bit longer so the custard can seep in. The home fries were lightly seasoned, cooked through but lacking flavor. I like my home fries to have a bit of a sear to them with crispy browned bits. I also like them to be seasoned a little heavier, or else all you get is a bland potato. Pricing was about 18.50. So not bad for the dishes I ordered. Portion was right, just the quality was lacking. As a little local diner, it fits the bill just fine. You can get eggs and omelettes and the space is nice. Just know it's very basic and you'll be just fine.
