A service technician came out and informed my mother that the unit had no refrigerant in the system. He further instructed her it would be another $500 to replace the lost refrigerant. My mother became skeptical when he wrote all of this out on her notepad after he requested some paper. An estimate for repairs and diagnostic statement was not on the company's letterhead. After my mother contacted me; I called the number and requested a call back. No one from the company ever returned my call. I will not mention the specific tech's name for privacy concerns. I redacted his name from the business card he left. The repair tech requested $562.47 with no parts or service work performed, which was promptly paid by my mother. Furthermore, the things he said were wrong with the system were fine according to the other company we hired. The air conditioning problem was a faulty evaporator coil. It had nothing to do with power capacitors as he suggested on the notepad. The work was performed today by another company and completed in a little over 3 hours. I took photos of the faulty evaporator coil, business card, service technician's diagnosis and ridiculous invoice he wrote on our memo pad.

Parker evaluated the cause (slow leaking evaporator coil) but he wanted to be sure the rest of the system maintained integrity by performing a pressure leak test which he did a few days later. He charged the system back up, enough to get me to the pressure test. Confirming the problem, he passed me over to Hope who provided a solution and explained in detail what needed to be done, what it would cost, and how long it would take. This was on a Friday afternoon. She was able to coordinate the required new equipment, materials and schedule their construction team for the following Monday morning. Everything was in place that morning and needless to say, they knew what to do and how to do it. They jumped on it, and never stopped. No breaks, no lunch and were finished by 2:00 PM. This was a major project, having to demo and rebuild the supply plenum, remove and replace the coil section of the furnace, install a new drain pan and drains, etc. As fate would have it, my thermostat had failed and that caused a delay getting the system to start. Richard, another airWoodlands tech came out and discovered the problem quickly and provided me with a new thermostat. From Angela, to Parker, to Hope, to Cossa, and to Richard, I could not have asked for a better team from any one, anywhere. Customer service in general has failed in America, but this group is an exception. I will never have to search for an a/c contractor. Air Woodlands is the best. (A special call out to Parker. Highly recommend these guys for not just general maintenance on the AC unit but for their very…read moreknowlegeable on the systems and ways that unique layouts, or improper duct installation can affect the way the house cools. I had rooms that were some hot, some cooler, and overall the machine was just running too much making the electric bill go up. They were able to fix some of the leaking ducts, as well as service the unit in the attic and the outside section to make sure that the house would properly cool down. That on top of the UV light i had installed and some new filters throughout, my whole family is breathing better and staying comfortable. Pricing was very fair.
