A/c compressor wasn't coming on, called for service because my regular guy wasn't available. Tech came out later in the afternoon, cleaned unit and replaced run capacitor. Super simple job for most techs. Charged $325. Didn't itemize services on the bill. I'm the type who likes to see where my $$ goes so, I call the next day to ask for specifics. I was told service call was $89 after first told $79. Then told cleaning was $79, part was $56 and labor was $100. I was told there is no set hourly labor rate established and it depends on the work. So basically, I paid $179 to have this guy spray my unit with my garden hose. Seems excessive to me but, understanding how cut throat this business is, I'm not surprised. I would just say, buyer beware. Get specific pricing in writing up front. They would not be my first choice in the future. read more

After purchasing our new home in July of this year our HVAC system died, specifically starting with the AC. We were going to get the entire system serviced and looked at regardless after purchasing the home, but the situation became more extreme with it going out. After having multiple estimates and quotes, Airko was the most competitive in the middle of the market and thorough. Both our furnace and AC unit needed to be replaced. Throughout the process Mike guided us through the problems within the system and both immediate and deferred repairs and recommendations. Georgia ordered the parts, talked us through the status of both the order and the install, scheduled the delivery and installation, and tried to give us the best rates and discounts she could. Hector and Boris installed both the furnace and AC unit after 5 business days and finished the job within a day, and were responsive to questions we asked during the install and provided insights on what to watch out for, how to maintain the unit, and recommendations for future upgrades. Going through any unexpected large maintenance and replacement projects is difficult and convoluted to say the least but Georgia's responsiveness, Hector's technical ability, and Mike's management of the process and overall recommendations made us feel better about the overall service. The issue was the chimney liner, It was dirty and rusted, it needed to be replaced due to lack of service from the previous owner oh my house. I paid around $1,600.00 and now my heater does not shut down. The company is not only honest and fair, but also on-time and prepared to perform the job. The scheduling was easy and flexible. The employees were kind and explained the issues thoroughly, and provided a written invoice at the end of the service. I also received recommendations on caring for my furnace to avoid future potentially costly repairs. I'd love to give them ZERO stars, but it won't let me. I scheduled an appointment with them for Tuesday from 10-2. 2:30 on Tuesday, nobody has arrived so I call. The woman that answered the phone tells me I made the appointment for Wednesday. I told her no I didn't because I work on Wednesday, so she says, well we can come out on Thursday between 10-2, so I say fine. Thursday 2:30, I call because again, nobody shows up. Same woman says, he's running late but he will be there. He'll call you as soon as he's on his way. It's now Friday at 9:30 AM...... still waiting for that phone call and their tech to arrive. Whem we needed our AC unit disconnected Airko came out, in 20 minutes he had identified there was an existing leak in the line, disconnected and moved the unit. Airko's tech was wonderful. Couldn't be happier. read more

This business offers superb service and is one of the only surviving small businesses in the area that really cares about providing honest, straightforward attention to customer needs. Georgia (sp?) and Marco (sp?) really know how to go above and beyond; Marco was able to address my heating and ventilation issue quickly and he even offered up advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. I select 0 stars for this so-called establishment...If you thought about using this company's service DONT. This business is a joke. The owner, Marco came out on a Sunday and checked my central air and told me I needed a new furnace. Quoted me for the new unit initially $2800. Then went on to tell his whole life story and then stated "I can see you dont have a lot of money so I can install the new unit for $2000 labor included. Wow, what a deal right...Anyway, he then went on to say that if we could supply a $500 CASH deposit that day he would come out the next day to install the unit. We were told our appointment would be first thing Monday morning. Ok, so Monday morning arrives, no call or no service men arrive. Around 1:30 pm -I receive a call from a guy named Anthony who states he's from the company and that they were running behind on a previous job but that he would get to me at about 4pm. Irritated, I agreed to have him still come out. Well at about 4:30 no one had arrived at my home so I called Anthony back. He said that he had been working for 15 hours already but that he would still come to my house and temporarily get us air and then return the next morning which would have been Tuesday. At this point im furious and literally ask, how productive will u really be once you arrive at my house? Anyway, he said he was on the way to my house and we hung up. About 10 minutes later, I receive a call from the company's dispatch lady I guess (Georgia)..Not the brightest I must say. Anyway she says that the guys that were coming to my house were old and tired so she need to reschedule me for the next morning. At this point, I'm going to just cancel the service. They practically begged for another opportunity. So the next day, I get a call from Georgia saying they would be out at 1pm. Im literally so annoyed by this lady that's as dumb as a bag of rocks. So throughout the day, once again i'm getting these calls,that their coming they're just running behind. Finally at 6pm 2 older guys arrive at my house, no tools, no furnace. Literally looks at the thermostat and says I have to grab my tools. They got in their car and left. No one had realized that they had left. 5 minutes later, Georgia Dumb, calls and says, they're gonna have to send someone out tomorrow. The service guy called and said he was sick. Now im furious. I told her No, cancel the service and I want a refund. They tried not to give me a refund then wanted to keep 35% of it trying to refer to some clause in a non existent contract. I wasnt going for that so finally after many threats of exposing them as a scam I was told that on Thursday I could come in and pick up my $500 cash refund. Well I had to work, so my mom went and when she got there they gave her a check dated for the following day. I was pissed. I decided not to deposit the check in my account just because of all the previous funny business. Friday aftrernoon, I went to the bank listed on their company check First midwest bank and was told the check was not valid. The teller suggested I make the company give me cash. I Called the company and who else but dumb, 4th grade education Georgia answers. I tell her im on my way to that company for CASH because they gave me a fraudulent check. After several threats to come with the police and arguing back and forth with Georia Dumb. This so called company that has been in business for 60 years had NO MONEY IN THEIR ACCOUNT. THEY HAD TO WIRE TRANSFER MONEY TO THAT ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE ME WITH MY REFUND. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME, AND RISK OF BEING SCAMMED. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY SERVICES. The tech was a con artist...very sneaky and unprofessional taking advantage of the fact that I'm a senior citizen female living alone. This business was once a reliable company but no more. I had a furnace installed which they installed the day after I called but when I had problems with it they were suddenly very busy and after repeated fruitless calls I told them I would contact my credit card to hold the payment and only then did they send someone. They cancel or just don't show up for appointments on a regular basis and customer service is rude and unprofessional. If you do decide to do business with them always pay with a credit card as it gives you some leverage if they screw up and check your statement to make sure they don't double bill you. read more

This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I called them to install a newer style ignition on my older boiler. The old boiler worked fine but it had to be light by a match. Marco convinced me to have a new high efficiency boiler installed. It sounded like a good idea so I did. After that, during the winter the attic became full of moisture, the windows in the house were always wet. Then all the plaster started peeling off the chimney area walls and celling, kitchen and bathroom. I called the insurance company, they had never seen anything like this and attributed it to the flashing leaking around the chimney on the roof. In the spring I checked the flashing which was fine, but I redid it anyway. Same thing happened the next winter, only worse. All plaster around the chimney in the house on the walls and ceiling was now falling off. The attic was soaked. I did some research and called the boiler company Laars. They stated that this boiler had to be installed with a liner in the chimney. Even the diagram in the installation manual showed a liner. Fumes from the high efficiency burner are not able to exit the chimney fast enough so they go through the bricks in the chimney and into the house. A liner prevents that. This is what Laars told me. Ol' Marco and Co. neglected or were too stupid or probably just didn't care to mention that. It's all about the money you see. I had three kids in the house breathing in that exhaust. So I called them and told them what I had learned. They made every excuse possible, saying they were going to send a Laars rep out etc. All they did was send one of their techs to tell me it was going to cost 1500.00 for a liner. I have never talked with a more ignorant person than Georgia, she handles complaints while Marco hides under her skirt. "You expect us to pay for the damage of a furnace we installed 2 years ago!" she screamed. That was what I got for a guarantee, a ruined house for their scam. The damage to the house had begun occurring as soon as the furnace was turned on. They knew that but they were too ignorant and cheap to back up their work. Then I learned that other houses had experienced the same issue with high efficiency boilers installed by the Marco & Co scam outfit. After all the headaches, spending over 5000.00 for a new liner and damage repair, I did not receive a dime from these pathetic cons. All I got was "you expect us to pay for the damage of a furnace we installed 2 years ago!" and "I am going to call the police!" Which I welcomed but they never did. I contacted a lawyer who stated I had a good case, however the costs involved in taking them to court and winning would out weigh the cost of my damages. I am certain that Ol'Marco and his pit bull Georgia are well aware of that, that is why they are still in the business of providing terrible workmanship with no credibility just for you. This is the most unprofessional company on the planet. It took them two weeks to install my furnace. They originally told me it would be a one to two day job. It was install improperly and I have been trying to get them to fix it for 4 months now. They have rescheduled a half a dozen times and I am still waiting for them to fix the problem. I will be reporting them to the BBB. I would not hire them again to clean my cats litter. read more
