A service technician came out and informed my mother that the unit had no refrigerant in the system. He further instructed her it would be another $500 to replace the lost refrigerant. My mother became skeptical when he wrote all of this out on her notepad after he requested some paper. An estimate for repairs and diagnostic statement was not on the company's letterhead. After my mother contacted me; I called the number and requested a call back. No one from the company ever returned my call. I will not mention the specific tech's name for privacy concerns. I redacted his name from the business card he left. The repair tech requested $562.47 with no parts or service work performed, which was promptly paid by my mother. Furthermore, the things he said were wrong with the system were fine according to the other company we hired. The air conditioning problem was a faulty evaporator coil. It had nothing to do with power capacitors as he suggested on the notepad. The work was performed today by another company and completed in a little over 3 hours. I took photos of the faulty evaporator coil, business card, service technician's diagnosis and ridiculous invoice he wrote on our memo pad.

He is a second generation HVAC Technician, and that knowledge shows. Emmanuel's father brought him and his brother into the business. I support family-owned businesses. As a general rule, I always get at least two bids when dealing with contractors: a/c, plumbers, tile, electrical, etc. for competitive pricing and to receive different points of views. Emmanuel offered a very competitive estimate, so I purchased a complete A/C and Heating system from him, which included the outdoor condenser, interior evaporator, and furnace. It was a great system. The installation was excellent and clean; about a 5 hour process. What an improvement! I saved hundred of dollars on my electric bill based on the energy efficient system. Fast forward three years later, I purchased a single-story home. The system was not cooling properly. Emmanuel diagnosed the system and discovered a ventilation issue. The return-air vent was not recycling / pulling out the hot air, so Emmanuel and his team, added two new return-air registers in the ceiling that were ducted back to the system in the attic. Voila! The system works better and is operating more efficiently. Side note: It's best to have more than one return-air register. The home I recently purchased had a single central return-air grille. The registers allow for proper air circulation and help to balance pressure from room-to-room, minimizing uneven room temperatures. Oh, and Emmanuel used a very cool thermal imaging camera to detect uneven temperatures thought the house. Need more insulation in attic. Would I recommend Comfort Squad to my family and friends? Longer review: Galen answered the call and was able to quote me on the phone for a couple of new coils and a 3T outdoor condenser but wanted to make sure so he's going to send someone to come out and get us a free estimate. He was the last one that came out and quoted us and I couldn't believe how low his quote was! Almost $1500 less for the exact same equipment, warranty and time frame as the others. He didn't do the extra stuff that wasn't needed like replacing the vent lines or adding dampeners, etc, but again, it wasn't needed. We needed air at an affordable cost. He came early and went thru and quoted us for a new evaporator and condenser. He's definitely old school so I was a little afraid when he spke about a handshake deal over the phone. He did also give it to us in writing as well when he came out so that made me feel better. I checked their ratings on FB, Yelp, and also their state license, since the other companies couldn't match the price, and all came out stellar. I also contacted some of his Facebook clients and they stood by their awesome reviews. He gave us some tips for self care to maintain and extend the longevity of our new AC. He definitely answered every call or text I made and his team manager Rocky was prompt and fast. I will definitely be recommending him and his company.

Bad business practice. I previously used this company when they were called Elite Comfort and gave…read morethem a great review. However, that's not the case with this new company, Air Tech. While the technician was professional, the estimate they gave was outrageous. The technician said I needed a new evaporator coil. If you look online, you'd be hard-pressed to find one for more than $1,000. He mentioned it would take two technicians and six hours to complete the job. Even if we assume the technicians charge $100 per hour (which is a stretch), that brings the labor cost to $1,200, and the total so far to $2,200. Let's add a 50% markup for the company, which brings the total to $3,300. That's still high, but they quoted me $4,980! Obviously, I shopped around and found a much more reasonable estimate--nearly 50% less from a reputable company. The bad business practice here is charging nearly $100 for the diagnostic, knowing the estimate was outrageous. You could literally build a business around giving inflated estimates with the sole intention of collecting diagnostic fees.

I was recommended Redmon Heating & Air Services by a neighbor of mine who happens to be a general contractor. He told me they were honest and provided high-quality work. The level of communication and the expectation that is set is great. You're kept up to date and if there's any changes or delays with your appointment, you're notified with an updated ETA. I had Randy come out last year to inspect an issue that I had with my AC unit. He inspected it and recommended a repair along with unclogging my primary drain line. What I appreciate about Randy is that if it can be repaired, he will repair it. He will not force you to buy a new unit or system like many other companies. My AC unit and furnace was on the older side, but he repaired it successfully and saved me money when I needed it. Fast-forward to over a year later, my furnace was having issues and not staying lit. I gave Randy a call and he was able to come out the same day to look at it. Randy inspected it, tested it with a new part he brought with him, and it still was not staying lit. He told me it was likely the circuit board that was failing given the age of the furnace and other factors. Factoring in the cost for a new circuit board and the age of my furnace, he told me it would be best to replace it. He was able to give me different options and explained each of them in detail. He answered all of my questions and did not make me feel rushed or pressured into anything. After offering me a deal I couldn't refuse, we finally came to an agreement on replacing the furnace and AC unit together so that it would be matching. Randy went above and beyond and got the units hot shotted over so that it could be replaced the next day as there was cold weather in the forecast and he didn't want me freezing. Fernando, Randy's right-hand man, showed-up right on time with his team and got to work with replacing everything. Fernando, Martin, and the rest of the gentlemen kept me informed with the whole process. They also offered to have me come up in the attic to see the replacements and if they were to my satisfaction. These guys worked hard and were able to get my brand new furnace and AC unit up and running within just a few hours. They provided me with all of my paperwork for the units and answered any questions that I had. Fernando also went above and beyond by going to the hardware store and purchasing a new return air filter grille and new filters for the new system. I didn't even mention this to him but he wanted to surprise us. He told me that he noticed my grille was older and that he could get filters that would fit my air return vent since it's an odd size. It's the small things like this that provide a great experience and set apart the best from the rest. I could tell by talking to Fernando that he takes his work seriously and enjoys what he does. Randy called me when the work was finished to ensure I was satisfied and asked me if I had any questions for him. This was a 5-star experience all around. Thank you Randy, Fernando, Martin, and everyone else who came out. I'll continue to use Redmon Heating & Air Services in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone who is needing HVAC service.

We believe these guys would be quite ok at selecting, installing, and maintaining conventional HVAC…read moresystems. But anyone interested in mini splits and VRF technology should read our story before choosing to work with Morgan Pro. We trusted them to 1) assess our home for the most energy-efficient HVAC system it could accommodate and 2) install it correctly. Morgan Pro failed to do either. Their $3K Manual J assessment of our 1500 sq. ft home determined it needed a 5-ton HVAC system. It took them over 30 visits to fully install a VRF system in our house and to get it functional--two inverters outside (they accidentally blew up the first one) and 6 mini splits through our home in all the ceilings. During that time, they also caused unnecessary damage: cutting extra joists, drawing on antique trim, and they compensated us for that. The HVAC system passed city inspection, but it never worked 100%. As Morgan Pro kept trying to fix it, we had to agree to things they had promised to avoid--wall thermostats everywhere, humidity and noise levels that were too high, and on and on. When water started pouring from our new ceilings in the middle of a Houston summer, it was clear to everyone that the system was simply wrong for our house. But instead of taking responsibility for their enormous failure, Morgan Pro blamed the two things we had paid them many thousands to professionally assess: our house, and the system! Their next move was to conduct a test on our home, claiming it now needed 8 tons of HVAC (!), not 5, and that we pay them a further $14K to get it up to 8 tons. Knowing it was utterly laughable that our 1500 sq. ft house was an 8-ton home, our only next step was a legal dispute to get them to give us a correctly-sized and functional system for the money they had already taken for us, with consequent delays to a remedy. Shocked and exhausted, we decided that delay was worse than simply severing ties with an inept business we could never trust again. Morgan Pro ended up waiving thousands we still owed them so they could crawl away from their own meaningless install guarantee, and we were relieved to see them go. We then removed the entire system (see photos) and installed a conventional one (4 tons!) which has worked perfectly from the start, costs much less to run, is much quieter, and is a great fit for the structure of our fully renovated historical home. Our new HVAC technician who extracted system has installed the same units many times before. He pointed out the clear mistakes he saw in Morgan Pro's installation, and said the technology was also just not suited to our house. Morgan Pro's supplier and factory rep (who they depended on almost exclusively) were also at fault and we are making formal reports to their respective professional boards and the manufacturer as well. All of them failed us abysmally, but none more than Morgan Pro: they failed to do right by our home and us, when that was their *only* job for which we paid many thousands in good faith while supporting their efforts in our home for months with remarkable patience and kindness. Everlasting shame on them. We have written this review so that other Houston customers can be well informed. We would hate for the same experience to happen to anyone else because we had remained silent about their record with us. One star is for their fantastic office staff and their young tech Ricky, who always worked as hard as he could to do his best, though he was way out of his depth on these units.
