This hike is my absolute favorite--not just because it's the perfect way to lure my "I-only-walk-to-the-fridge" friends into nature, but because it's essentially a full-blown survival simulator disguised as a "moderate" trail.
### 1. The Terrain
Calling this trail "moderate" is like calling a tornado "a refreshing breeze." After rain, the path transforms into a giant Slip 'N Slide apparently sponsored by Satan himself. One wrong step and you'll be auditioning for the Olympic luge team on your way into a ravine. At times, the trail markers feel less like navigation aids and more like memorials to the overconfident.
### 2. The Wildlife
The real stars of the show are the feral cats. These adorable little sociopaths treat the area like their own *Hunger Games* arena, turning baby piglets into gourmet appetizers. The anguished squeals of tiny doomed pork chops are enough to make you question whether Disney lied to us about how animals interact. Nature's message is clear: even the cutest creatures are capable of war crimes.
### 3. The Fellow Hikers
Then there are the oblivious joggers--human cruise missiles with no brakes and even less situational awareness. They'll charge straight at you as though they're being pursued by the murder-cats (and honestly, they might be). Fail to sidestep in time, and you'll become part of the ravine's scenic décor--a burial so picturesque even the vultures would RSVP.
Special mention goes to certain dog "parents" who insist on letting their "children" roam unleashed, especially along steep, muddy sections where one enthusiastic nudge or poorly timed zoomie could send someone tumbling into the abyss. On one memorable occasion, I encountered a pack of over twenty such individuals accompanied by roughly the same number of dogs, all happily letting their furry offspring run wild and out of sight. Apparently, chaos is considered a leash-free enrichment activity.
### Why go?
* For the adrenaline rush of near-fatal slips.
* For the horror-movie soundtrack of kittens versus piglets.
* For the excitement of playing real-life *Frogger* with trail runners.
* For the opportunity to test whether your health insurance really means what it says.
