Had the opportunity to experience Hawaii with a few loved ones and I knew that I wanted them to see the beauty of Lulumahu Falls, while we visited. I booked a last minute hike with Oahu Hike, and had such a wonderful experience. We were picked up by Aiden, and got to cruise through the island with the windows down while he provided knowledge on the history of the island before our hike. Our group had different levels of experience and Aiden was attentive and patient so that everyone was guided along the trails safely. Can't think of a better way to spend a FULL DAY of hiking with our new friend/hiking guide... Spencer! My husband & I were in town visiting family near Pearl Harbor during the Thanksgiving holiday. I have visited HI in recent past and from first hand experience new that it's hard to get around the area if you don't know where you are going and the traffic is bad. After spending some time researching, I found Oahu Hike. I wanted to spend 1 full day hiking around the island, so I submitted a request. Spencer messaged me back promptly and I immediately became so excited! Spencer picked us up on time in front of our hotel and we all became besties. If you're looking for a boring nature tour..this is not business for you. When I first came to Oahu, I had seen endless videos and pictures of all these dreamy and rad outdoor places, I just didn't know how to find these places. I contacted Oahu Hike and was put in touch with the owner Spencer. I had told him about where I wanted to hike (Pali Notches/Olomana/Cool waterfalls) and he was very enthusiastic about bringing me to those places. I usually don't do many tours but this one seemed like it would be different..and that it was. Spencer picked me up from the Waikiki Hostel and brought my buddy and I to Manoa Falls. We did not follow the normal path. He took us through the jungle for about a 2 mile journey to a secluded waterfall with no traces of anyone. On the way there he told us about many different plant species, and even found us strawberry guava's and guava's to eat. He then asked if we liked to jump off rocks..my buddy and I were more than stoked. Our trip took us to Kapena falls, where we then jumped off the rock probably too many times for our own good. Spencer's positive attitude made the journey so much fun that to this day I keep in touch with him. This is my favorite excursion/activity i've done while visiting in Hawaii... ditch the tour bus, ditch the public group shuttle. Go with SPENCER! Group leader. He's friendly, awesome personality. We were picked up in a private van, water and donuts provided. Snacks through out the day. Go on this oahu hike and enjoy a private tour with just your traveling family/friends! We went to 2 waterfalls, maka puu beach. Not touristy at all, perfect activity for the day, even half day. All affordable and so fun! You are totally missing out if you do not choose this! I came out to Oahu last week for a vacation with my family. One thing on our to-do list was to explore the mountain tops and swim in the waterfalls. We were recommended by two friends to go out for the day with the team at Oahu Hike. The experience was incredible! Our guides were very personable, outgoing, and educational. They took us up some of their favorite hiking trails around the island and the views were amazing. Not only is it hard to find a lot of the trails in Oahu, it is easy to get lost on the way up. From the second we were embraced in his presence, he was so informative on the island. He took us to 2 spectacular waterfalls, showed us the most incredible views and made our trip so magically unique. Def the highlight of our entire trip! Whenever I go to Hawaii, we usually stay in Hana, and spend a lot of time exploring lost oasis's...I found these guys online and the hikes that they had posted seemed unreal, I reached out to them on the site and they recommended a few places that had hidden waterfalls where we could cliff dive. We waited until we returned home to be sure and we are. The full day hike with Aidan was the best part of our week in Hawaii. The four of us agree that he was naturally friendly, fun, and curious. And really fit. We saw so many beautiful places, vistas, and small details on trees that our memories are full of new stuff we never knew existed. Weird little retracting plants that pull back at your touch, new fruits picked in the wild, the sound of bamboo clacking against its neighbors in the wind. And fun with music themes when we suggested a rest from the "intermediate" hike that was right at my limit of ability. He was flexible and lent a hand, and fashioned a walking stick. What a great day, we all regretted when it ended. He was in no rush, we felt like we met a new friend, and have invited him to visit us in Maryland if he ever makes it here. First, I would like to say that after spending two weeks in Hawaii with my wife, diving with sharks, swimming with dolphins, going to a Luau, and more, the single best thing we did was hire Spencer from OahuHike to take us on a hike up to Mt. Olympus. Spencer helped is plan our trip and select the best hike for our ability and desires. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging. He boosted our confidence in our abilities and paced the hike perfectly to allow for us to rest when we needed it. Spencer even showed us where wild fruit was growing along the trail so we could have on-the-go snacks. It was also very helpful to have him carrying water and snacks for us to keep up our strength. If anybody has ever seen the show "Running Wild: With Bear Grylls", this felt like being on his show. We pushed ourselves beyond where we thought we could go without even realizing it and were rewarded with the most spectacular views which we will never forget. The next time we go to Hawaii we will be booking several more hikes with Spencer. I guarantee he will exceed your expectations. read more
