It first started out with a small tour along the coast to observe some sea life. We respectfully encountered multiple Hawaiian sea turtles. After that, we paddled over to view the fireworks. One of the best things I did during my Oahu trip! Long Overdue. This is our 3rd time paddle boarding with Nocturnal Adventures, and each time is always an excellent experience. Chad is such a cool and easy going guy, with a very positive attitude. He explains things very thoroughly, and as a 3rd time "rookie" paddle boarder, I was able to regain muscle memory. We were led to an area where sea turtles swam right by us, and bobbed their cute bald little heads. We asked for availability and he said we could come out on Sunday night. We are so happy that we did this. My cousin raved about an experience in the North Shore where he went paddle boarding at sunset and saw so many sea turtles. Unfortunately he could not remember the name of the tour or company, as it was several years ago. I am convinced his experience was with Nocturnal Adventures Hawaii. I won't lie - I was a bit apprehensive at first upon landing on the "budget friendly" website, but the reviews were nothing but stellar so I decided to take the risk. SO worth it! We did several excursions over the weekend including snorkeling and UTVs, yet this was by far the best and most magical experience. We saw several sea turtles and they swam right up under our boards! I wish I had photos to share, but I only have videos and can't figure out how to upload them on Yelp Chad was so awesome - so incredibly kind and also super funny :) We were staying in Waikiki and made the trek up for the sunset SUP and I highly recommend everyone to do the same. My family and I just returned from our Hawaii trip. When we were staying in Waikiki, my cousin recommended a Friday night paddle board experience with Chad and his company, Nocturnal Adventures Hawaii. I'm so glad we took my cousin's recommendation. My daughter and I had a blast! Even though we arrived at the meeting spot by the pier early, Chad was already there with the paddle boards ready to go. There were eight of us gathered for this adventure, which was a good number. Chad explained exactly how the paddle boards worked and how to use the paddles. If you wanted to stay seated on the paddle board, he explained how to do that. If you wanted to try standing up on it, he explained how to do that. The paddle boards we used were very stable and had LED lights underneath so you could see the water below you. You could even change the color of the lights if you wanted. While we were out in the water, Chad also provided so much info on things to do and places to eat on the island. It was like having a personal concierge out in the water! While we were out on the water we enjoyed the fun of paddling a good distance down the beach and back. We were thrilled to see several turtles with one swimming right underneath me and then coming up for air just a few feet away. When the time approached around 8pm, the fireworks went off! What an experience. We were out on our paddle boards, in the water, the LED lights lighting up the surrounding water in a variety of colors, and the fireworks bursting in the sky above us. Amazing! If you are planning on visiting Oahu and happen to be there on a Friday, please book Chad's Friday night fireworks tour. I cannot recommend this enough. My family spent almost a week on the island, and unanimously agreed this was their favorite experience (you're welcome for finding this experience, family!). Chad is supremely helpful when it comes to learning how to paddleboard. This was my first time on a paddle board, and with his direction and cues, I was able to stand up and sit down whenever I felt like it. Good balance and leg strength helps prevent you from falling in. He warns you at the beginning of the tour to essentially not take anything out on the water you're prepared to lose, and please heed this warning. Someone in my group brought their prescription sunglasses out, wiped out trying to stand up on the paddleboard, and now they forever live at the bottom of the ocean in Waikiki. Watching the sun go down over the horizon as you're paddling around feels like the highlight of the experience, but it isn't! After the sun goes down, the paddle board lights come on, and most likely you'll see sea turtles swimming around. If you're lucky, they'll swim directly under your board! A little bit into sundown, the Hilton resort on the beach starts their firework show and you have an incredible front row seat from your paddleboard. I will forever treasure this memory. On top of everything, Chad is also super agile on his board and takes incredible photos of you and your group so you don't have to worry about dropping your phone in to capture this beautiful moment. He also has plenty of island recommendations if you want to pick his brain for food or activities. The Friday Fireworks paddleboarding adventure is a must to try while in Hawai'i! The paddle boards had LED lights on the bottom, which made it so much cooler to see the clear waters. While paddleboarding, we saw sea turtles and watched a 10-15 minute firework show. I definitely believe you should experience this activity at least once while in Wakiki. There's lots of food in the area at a very walkable distance. My partner and I had never paddle boarded before, but Chad is a great instructor and made it very easy to follow. Second time booking with Nocturnal Adventures and, again, I'm happy to report that my group had a blast! The first time we booked with Chad was for the fireworks Friday night time paddle boarding in waikiki and that experience was so memorable that my gf and I decided to book the Haleiwa night paddle boarding on our second trip to Oahu. I can definitely say that the Haleiwa paddle boarding was just as spectacular as the Waikiki one. Of course, there were no fireworks in Haleiwa, however, the calm dark waters in the Anahulu river made for a peaceful and serene experience. We started the evening launching from the shore and spent some time getting used to standing up and paddle it, and once we were comfortable we made our way down into the river. The river sides were lush with trees and was a nice getaway from the busy city of waikiki. We saw giant sea turtles and Chad even took pictures for us on his go pro. Fantastic experience from start to finish! The 'Friday Fireworks Adventure' was full when I initially tried to book, so I reached out to Chad (business owner) who, true to his word, called me when there was a cancellation. I had totally forgotten about it, until i saw the 808 number appear on my phone. On the day of the 'adventure', even with a 1 hour cushion to try to find parking and get to the meeting point, we ended up being late. But Chad was kind enough to wait for us and never showed any sign of frustration or impatience towards us, even though the rest of the group was raring to go. The paddling itself was both fun and relaxing. The site of turtles coming up for air next to our boards was an added bonus and you really can't beat the view of the fireworks from where we were. My group wanted to do Fireworks Friday and this was by far the highlight of my trip and one of the best experiences I've had hands down! Chad was great at communicating with us and would keep us updated with the weather and send us updates throughout the day. I really enjoyed this because Hawaii's weather can always change. I also enjoyed how he gave us tips on where to park as Waikiki can be a pain if you are not staying downtown. We were lucky enough to find parking for free near the Hilton Lagoon :D We did come about 1 hour before! The location was super easy to find. When we arrived, we had some extra time so we got a couple drinks and food at the hotel near by! This was my first time paddleboarding but Chad helped everyone know the basics and how to manuever! I will say it was a bit intimidating paddleboarding in the dark since the waves are moving but after you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. I did get a bit motion sickness at first but as soon as I started to paddle more it went away! *I do recommed bringing a waterproof case lanyard, this way you can take pictures without worring that your phone is going to drop. They do have bags that you can attach to your paddleboard if you like. * We pretty much were able to roam anywhere we wanted and see the sealife under us. There were alot of turtles, fishes, sting rays, etc. Finally at the very end, we got to watch the fireworks that were shooting right off the lagoon. I have never been so close but it was an experience that I will never forget. Chad also went around and took pictures of all the groups and sent them to us in a google drive folder. My boyfriend and I booked the 6PM Firework Fridays paddle boarding outing at Waikiki Beach, and it was an unforgettable birthday experience. Though we headed out into the waters in the evening, the water wasn't too cold and paddling kept us warm. As first time paddleboarders, Chad and Duane made it very easy for us to understand how to push up & onto the boards to balance while standing. They also gave tips & tricks on how to paddle efficiently out into the waters and gave tons of food and hiking recommendations around the island while we navigated around the shallow waters and reef. One of our favorite highlights out in the waters was seeing the honus (turtles) that were humongous, super-friendly, and peacefully drifting below our boards. The 7:45PM fireworks hosted weekly by Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort were gorgeous and the perfect ending to our excursion. Overall, it was an unforgettable time. Our family paddle. This was my first time paddle boarding. Chad gave easy to understand instructions and asked if we had any questions or concerns prior to getting out on the water. Once we were out on the water, he was very attentive and aware of where everyone was and how they were doing. He was at our side quickly if anyone was struggling or fell in the water. I felt very safe with him. He was very knowledgeable of where to paddle to see the turtles. His lighted boards made it easy to see the turtles as it got dark. Chad was the most amazing tour guide. We saw so many turtles and we felt very comfortable on our boards. The boards were in excellent condition and the lights on the bottom made for an amazing night time experience. We 10/10 would recommend. Especially for the price. This was one of our cheapest excursions while on Oahu and it was by far our favorite one. Our only complaint is that we wish it lasted longer so we could enjoy more time on the water.
