Well, I read other reviews about this place, but thought I would try it anyway. The woman behind the counter( definitely an owner) was a bit pushy. She didn't like me asking about the available fish. In fact, she was visibly unhappy when I ordered two scoops of the red tuna. Anyway, she put a full scoop a very hot "sauce" without me asking for it. Indeed, I like a little heat, but not firestorm inferno. I will never patronize this place again. Alienating a first time customer? Why? I'll definitely tell others about my horrible customer service experience. You will not survive with that kind of crappy service, and blemished product. So disappointed. read more

I came here on a Friday night for a poke bowl an hour before close and the place was still full of people dining in. There was only one other girl ahead of me and service was very fast. They have great hustle to make sure everyone dining in and ordering to go is served in a timely manner. I ordered the medium bowl with brown rice and both their spicy and regular salmon. It was delicous! The spicy salmon is coated in sriracha mayo and some of their other sauces but it wasn't all that spicy. They have a wide variety of sides and toppings, of which I got all because i love a packed poke bowl, and they have a bunch of different sauces. For sauces, i got the ahi special and the ponzu, which are more on the acidic side, and i also got the tammy sauce which has a bit of a kick to it. I should have asked for extra of the tammy sauce because i love spicy in my poke but i'll definitely try it next time. On top of their poke bowls, they also have ramen and bubble waffle ice creams, but i didn't get to try them this time. I'll be back to try the other parts of the menu for sure. read more

Sometimes is the food that gives you a good or bad experience, sometimes it's the service. The service was awful. And we were the only ones here. At the time of ordering, besides not explaining how it works or how many of sides and toppings you can order they charge you extra (they don't tell you how much) for certain items. Sauces are not available you you to use, nor are napkins and soy sauce. The scoops of the protein were very small and the lady was not even serving full scoops. Never coming back, this was our first and lats time. We were a party of 4 and all of us felt the same way. Decided to visit for the good reviews, this is an honest review of our experience today. The best poke place in town! I used to go to another type of poke restaurant in National City but Ahi Poke is the healthier version of it. I live in Spring Valley and I drive here almost everyday because i'm so addicted! PROs: 1. Fresh fish/veggies, and rice is always hot. 2. Great location - lots of parking! 3. Price point is good - not too expensive but not cheap either! 4. Friendly staff and owners 5. Always clean. CONs: 1. I didn't like their milk tea as it was too sweet for my taste - but it's okay because they are not a tea shop. No boba pearls but again, this is not a reason to not come back for poke! 2. You have to buy their bottled water - they don't provide any amount of drinking water in a cup for free. 3. They have a smaller eating area - one day, I came at a busy time and so they did not have enough tables and chairs. But at that time, one customer took two tables so it wasn't really their fault at the time. Overall, i love this place and i kept coming back almost everyday! read more

This poke spot is GREAT! The spicy tuna bowl with brown rice and sides is very filling and fresh. Have not tried their sushi burritos yet but I hear they're very good also, it is family owned and small and they're very friendly and welcoming. I come here at least once a week for a fresh fix. This place is great. There are many fish options and sides to create a massive bowl. The fish is fresh and the scoop sizes are large. The amount you get is tiny. 1 scoop was literally 5 pieces of fish. The quality was also not great. The different poke options sitting out looked almost congealed when they were scooped. I chose Ahi Poke for lunch and went there for the first time in my life. I walked in and I was the only client. As soon as I made three steps, someone yelled from the Kitchen... what you want? I said ... just one minute, please. I had then decided and asked for a large bowl. The lady was extremely rude with facial expressions and comments and felt bothered by every item I requested. Some she didn't even put in the bowl. They also are super stingy with quantity which at this point is quite irrelevant. It was the most horrible poke experience I've had. I haven't even tasted the food. I haven't made it further than back to my car and I just want to go back in there and throw the bowl in her face. I don't even care about the food at this point. In these tough times, these people do not need the business or else they would treat their clients differently. I haven't been to ahi poke since I've lived in Santee, until a couple weeks ago. I don't have any major complaints, but it is pretty expensive for the amount of food you get. The service was good, and the food was tasty. But again I paid a lot for a little bit of food. Overall good service, and yummy food. Just a little over priced in my opinion read more

Traveling through with my boyfriend and decided to try this poke spot. We got the large with 5 scoops of protein. Loved that they had unique items such as spicy mussels, and other sides. My partner especially liked the silver fish that they just added to their menu. The lovely couple behind the counter who I'm assuming are the owners were super helpful with describing everything and answering all of our questions. We got the ahi special sauce. This place is amazing. I've certainly been enjoying the influx of poke establishments in San Diego county, and many are top notch. But I cannot understate how thrilled I am to not only have a poke joint right here in Santee, but also that the quality of their food is so superb. I see some people balking at the price, but I find it to be very reasonable considering the quality and quantity received. Of course I would like more fish, but this is very comparable to other poke places around town. And they provide generous portions of all the other ingredients. Ahi Poke has quickly become one of our go-to take-out spots, and I'll recommend them to everyone interested in sushi meals. read more

I TRULY WISH I COULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS!!!! I called here Saturday night at 5:15PM to ask what time they closed. The lady on the phone answered and said 6:00PM but we take last call at 5:45PM. I was REALLY craving poke and I wanted to give this place a try since it's fairly close to me. I get off work at 6:00 normally but I left work EARLY just to make sure I get there before closing time/last call. It was raining so bad I finally park RIGHT IN FRONT at 5:43PM I am trying to open the door and the same woman who answered the phone wouldn't allow me to come in... there was a younger woman working there who I could see was trying to let me in but the older woman said no. I was extremely pissed off and frustrated. I left work 30 minutes early, drove so fast in the pouring rain, got here 2 whole minutes before last call, 17 minutes before closing and they refused to serve me. And the funny thing is all I wanted was a small pole bowl with 2 toppings... I'm a very simple person. I will NEVER come here again no matter how bad I will have a poke craving because any business especially small business who refuses customers in a time like this doesn't deserve anyone's money. First of all, just so excited there is a poke bowl place in Santee! I had a small bowl, everything was great-good selection of ingredients. They had more items than were even printed on their menu. I had albacore and spicy tuna over white rice with spicy mayo and a ton on veggies! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the kimchi. It had a good flavor but seemed to be predominantly composed of green onions. I love green onion, but it needed something else like cabbage or radish imho. I already told a friend and will definitely be back! I've been back twice since my initial visit and I'm still a fan. I tried the Honda sushi burrito. It was ok-pretty standard-satisfying but not extraordinary. This past Sunday I tried one of their special bowls-the Triple Tuna. It was amazing! All the flavors blended together just perfectly. I'm not sure if it was the sesame oil(I love sesame oil) or the crispy garlic, it just tasted delicious! I also tried the Thai tea and they said they could adjust it if it was too sweet or not sweet enough, but it was just fine. Each time I've gone though, I've been the only one there so I hope business is good. I do think they need to improve visibility with better signage and advertising. I wish them luck. The cashier lady used the same gloves taking my cash transaction and then put on a plastic glove on top of her dirty gloves to prepare my sushi burrito and then continued to remove her glove multiple times to grab the seaweed and sauce to finish preparing my burrito. The main girl behind the counter is a complete bitch and stayed on her phone behind the kitchen expecting us to greet her when we were ready to order. I proceeded to ask how much a Spam Masubi was so I could add it to my poke bowl order, and without eye contact she told me they only sell two at one time with no exception at all. This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and the place smelled like a dumpster. There are not many Poke places in Santee and I am lucky enough to work only 3 minutes away from Ahi Poke. Prices are fairly competitive to other joints, the fish is amazingly fresh and they make their own sesame oil! They typically have a chalk board sign advertising daily specials as well as 20% off their waffle ice cream with any poke bowl purchase. She rushes you along, and acts like you're wasting her time if you have questions, or pause to look at your options. So..for a good experience try and go when she's not there! Even faster than Tammy making your food, is being rung up, and asked if you want fork or chopsticks, and being told your total BEFORE you even finish putting your bowl together.. I got a salmon bowl with the ahi sauce, ponzu, and sesame oil and it tasted delicious! I wish my bowl was colder but due to the rice it warmed things up...but thats just a me thing.
