Please tell me why this was my first time eating poke? My mom and I had an amazing experience here. The girl that was making our order was so patient with us while we kept changing our order and asking her for recommendations. I ordered a regular bowl with brown rice, raw salmon, and spicy salmon with loads of toppings and the creamy sesame sauce. I would buy this dressing in bulk if they sold it because it was so tasty! There's bountiful of toppings to choose from (which is hard for my indecisiveness) so I got mostly everything and it still came out great. My mom ordered a regular bowl with salad, chicken, and shrimp, and she also thoroughly enjoyed her meal. The price is also very reasonable compared to the amount of food that is given. After some long-awaited time, I have FINALLY been able to give this place a try. Located practically in a poke DESERT, this place is convenient not only for those looking to satisfy their poke fix but also if you're feenin' for some milk tea! I had given this place a visit on a weekday at around 8:30 and was immediately struck by it's unique wall mural when I walked in. There are tables for you to dine inside and outside and a station where you can grab your own utensils/napkins once you have finished building your bowl. The building process was quick and easy with a variety of sauces to choose from but unfortunately the service was not up-to-par. Employees were not welcoming at all and ask you once if you're ready and then practically ignore you if you're not. Maybe they were just not having a good day, idk but that was definitely not a pleasant first impression. Aside from the service, the poke bowl itself was just okay. Nothing in my bowl really had flavor aside from the sauce, and there were not a lot of fix-ins to choose from which was really unfortunate (THREE different types of onion to choose from, is that really necessary???). The items that I DID add to my bowl though were cut so poorly compared to other poke places i've been to and I almost didn't give this place a try because of it! The cucumbers were huge, I literally had to ask for them to include only two in my bowl (I don't know about you guys but I like POKE bowls not cucumber bowls) and the cilantro leaves were basically whole plants still, stem and everything! Overall, I'd only visit this place again if i'm in the area and too lazy to drive anywhere else for poke. Hadn't given their milk teas a try but MAYBE that would be their one redeeming quality. (P.S. One defining factor about this place that sets it aside from others though is that your first scoop of avocado is free. After that I believe every three scoops is $2(?). This is my favorite meal in all of town, sincerely. I've been coming here for a few years now and it's the best. It's fresh, healthy and you get good a good portion of food for the price you pay. The milk tea is amazing ( I always get the honeydew flavor)! There are so many options when it comes to add-ons. I've visited a few other poke places (both in Houston and outside of the Houston area) and none stand out the way Ahi Poke does. The customer service could be a little better but I brush that off because the owner is always so friendly and to me, that's the face of the company. Especially since so many different people seem to be working there every time I visit. I'm there for the food, not the customer service. I was so excited to have this place open in my area. I literally watched and waited for the open sign to go up...only to be disappointed. My husband and I had an afternoon with no kids and thought we'd try it. Essentially it's a build your own poke bowl. My main problem, which is a huge problem btw, is that their sole vegan option is raw, unseasoned tofu. I get the concept of the restaurant, I really do, but have any of you ever had raw, unseasoned tofu? Yeah. It's pretty bad. Why is it bad? Because tofu has no taste at all without seasoning and it needs to be seasoned to be enjoyable at all. Why would I want a tasteless, raw protein? Anyway, I didn't order anything. Food - Excellent. Perfect. There's a variety of proteins, sauce, and toppings to choose from! Much more than other places I've been to. The portion size is great for the price. They even have boba and dessert too! Service - Fast. There was a line of people behind me after I got in. Everyone got taken care of diligently. They had 3 people taking care of customers and boss man was running the register. Loved how efficient it was, considering it was the lunch rush. As for the workers, they need some attitude adjustment. I had 3 different people help me since it started getting busy in the middle of my order. When I came in I wasn't ready yet. The African American young lady gave me this look of annoyance and a huge sigh. There was nobody behind or in front of me at the time so I wasn't holding up anyone. Once she was done mixing my food, she took the mixing bowl and spatula and heavily slammed it into the container of dirty dishes. It was as if she was mad she had to do her job. Then when she was asking her boss a question, he didn't understand it. She proceeded to raise her voice in a condescending way. It was quite disrespectful. Came back home for the summer. Super excited to see that a Poke place opened up near me! The workers there are super nice and will make the poke anyway you want it (they even added extra avocado for me and it doesn't cost any extra!). Also, Ahi Poke is reasonably priced. For two scoops for protein, it's 10.95! The tuna and salmon that i got was super fresh and had just the right amount of marbled fat in it. All the ingredients were fresh too, nothing tasted sour and/or was wilted. I got their almond milk tea too and that was also super yummy. It paired well with my poke. read more

Think of this place as a much *nicer* version of subway model "pick and choose" style restaurants. Pick your rice, pick your protein and then add as much goodness and sauces as you want to your Poke bowl. All the fish is fresh....you can get cooked or fried items if you don't want to eat raw, and in fact if you don't want fish but like poke, you can order it with tofu. The side items to put in your bowl are vast. The squid salad, which is technically free to put on your order is great by itself. The toppings are endless, from spicy mayo & soy sauce to wasabi aioli. I'm not sure how many total combinations of items you can get, but you can at least have a different experience each time you come here.
